I always liked the fan theory that immorton Joe, the bullet farmer and the people eater represent famine, pestilence and war from the horsemen of the apocalypse, with max representing Death.
@@PRESIDENT_LEMON my own personal head-cannon includes this. Also, I'm absolutely convinced that max is in some way connected to the wasteland spiritually through the dreaming/dreamtime, this explains how he remains young after decades in the wasteland and a number of other timeline inconsistencies. He is essentially a part of the wasteland.
Except that Pestilence isn't a horseman of the apocalypse in Revelation. The Four Horsemen there are listed as Conquest, War, Famine, Death, which fit way better for the three: Bullet Farmer as Conquest, Immortan Joe as War, and People Eater as Famine.
My favourite part is that he changes guns every scene he's in, first he has a couple of revolvers, then a Mac or an Uzi, then a pair of what looks like maybe MP5s or Ak 74s, then a pair of Kalashnikovs. amazing guy.
What I always found interesting, is that Immortan Joe is made to look like a god, Buller Farmer is made to look like a war general, but People Eater wears a business suit from a bygone era, representing corrupt big business, but still has that nose piece. It almost seems to serve a practical purpose, as if to protect his nose or set it in place.
The People Eater wears that nose piece because he has a disease that rotted his nose and made it fall off. The same disease likely also caused his swollen foot that you see a few times in the movie. If his name is literal, then he probably got sick from practicing cannibalism.
@@matthewfinger2381 I think it's supposed to be gout in his leg. He's definitely eating well. He can't be eating humans all the time tbf, or he'd already have the shakes and be a babbling mess from having contracted Kuru.
I liked his ending the most. Off cam, all the bluster and roar suddenly dissapearing. A reaper of men who finally came face to face with death itself, only to realize that he is but another man to be reaped.
I just realized that if Max and Co. could hear the Bullet Farmer's several rounds of bullets being fired, wouldn't basically everyone also hear the gunfire as well? People Eater: "And he's shooting blindly into the fog again isn't he?" Immortan Joe: "Fuck why did I trust him..."
I think they could probably hear that he was just firing threatening shots/to try and intimidate Furiosa's group. Then they knew things went down/wrong when he started firing rapidly AF
It's flat terrain so that helps, but if the war rig and Joe's war party are more than 4-5 miles apart (most gunfire reports drop off after 2 miles) then you probably wouldn't hear much from the farther end, especially not the handgun calibers. The AKMs, SKS, and the G3 that one of the guards has? Maybe. Really just depends on the distance.
2nd mad max had a low budget, they reused hockey equipment and sex outfits for post apocalyptic during the time. Now it's a little more modern but a call back.
I always joke that I'm the People Eater from Mad Max. In every game I play I am the guy who keeps supply inventory up to date making sure we never run out of ammo or anything really. And everyone else are the ones who consume it all.
Maybe is was overhyped for him? That’s why I don’t particularly like it. I had several friends rave about it saying it would revolutionize cinema and was basically the best thing since sliced bread. I went in expecting that and was greatly disappointed.
"Sing brothers. Sing! SIIING!" Truly fitting in a world where basic things are venerated as sacred. Water, bullets, car engines, plants, pretty women. I want to see the sermon for toilet paper.
I've only noticed just now that The Doof is the only character in this sequence who is shown in his true colours and not with the blue filter that overpowers everything else I wonder why they did that?
@@aired-downdisconnected4125 I don't think you read my comment right, but also it wasn't night, this scene was shot in the daytime and a blue filter put over it so we, the audience, could see what's going on better - So not making The Doof blue was a purposeful omission by the editing team
@@AFlyingCoconut Also the interior of the cars had the correct colors, again the point is your right they did use blue filter for day-for-night shots, but the editors also took the time to make sure parts that would have lights, like the car interiors and the doof's stage and flame guitar, had the [proper colors like they were illuminated with regular light sources.
In his defense, they did kinda shoot his eye out. Lol. Not like he expected to go blind trying to help his buddy Joe rescue his princess. Sometimes it's good to synpathise with the villain but always be aware that they can be scumbags.
I forget that the bullet farmer says "one angry shot" but eventually does a literal naked gun joke towards their way. SING BROTHER KOCH! SING!! SINGGGGGGGG!!!
Interesting that the main force must've turned back after the Bullet Farmer died and Joe must've given up that he wasn't going get rest of his wives back, since in the scene where Joe is humming some song, they're fairly close to the canyon where the dirt bike gang was.
Yup! Shortform for The Immortal Man, so not far off anyway. He got the title back in his prime when he first conquered the Citadel, being the only man from the raiding party to survive and managing to take it from within.
i love how they address the crazy waste of gasoline and resources in this scene. the chase for the wives was a major event - you dont see that sort of action in the wasteland every day.
Fun fact. According to the Director of Photography, Immortan Joe, the People Eater, and the Bullet Farmer were all originally brothers. This idea was scrapped as production went along, but you still see the DNA of that plot thread in this scene, namely how the two of them openly criticize Immortan Joe without fear of retribution. Bullet Farmer of course outright ignores Joe’s orders.
@@iansmith8944 IIRC the game that came out for Mad Max played with the idea that they had a little economy built on oppression and general human suffering going, so big ups on them maintaining civilization as we mostly know it, I guess.
@does jesus love hitler ? yes obviously... How does that make him stupid though? He's personifying his weapons, which are of extreme importance to the people of that time and place, him especially since his whole personality and being revolves around firearms and other such weaponry. So how does him using the brand of the guns make him stupid??
Probably thinking a bit that "All the son's you've produced Joe, are either mentally or physically twisted. We've wasted a lot of resources on what's likely a lost cause."
When you're the man in charge of running what is essentially an unlimited supply of bullets, you better not think about ammo conservation for even a second!
For some reason, he was one of my favourite characters when I first watched the movie Edit: Rewatched the movie recently and ya, he still is one of my favourites
@@davispeterson1876 You actually want to cover up more like the arabs. Only humid environments do you dress down. In hot dry areas you cover up with light clothing but it covers you entirely.
@@MasterGhostf I mean we could be dealing with a Tatooine situation where it's actually fairly humid but it's also so hot that the water can't ever condense without technological assistance.
You can enter gastown in the PS4 Mad Max videogame. Even if the interior of the "town" is pretty limited, the whole area of the map is a mess of tar and wreckages, really a sight to behold. The game is good if you like Mad Max, but pretty repetitive and impossible to complete 100% because of some glitches (but you are fine with the main story and events).
@@satellachannel6423 thanks man, I didn't know that, IL give it a look and see, just out of curiosity, I absolutely love Mad Max, the road warrior is my fave, but fury road is a modern masterpiece, thanks for the info man 👍 x
Bullet Farmer: SING BROTHERS *SING, SIIIIIIIIING* *Meanwhile a few miles away* The People Eater: how long did you ACTUALLY expect his promise of "one angry shot" to last? Imortan Joe: Another word out of you and deficits will be the least of your concerns
the max that we see in this movie is the feral kid from the road warrior grown up cos he has the music thingy and he is able to take out all of the bullet farmers with out braking a sweat and he dose not talk much.
One of the best action movies of all time. The amount of effort the whole team went through to make this movie is insane and is why it will always be one of my favorite movies.
This scene is brilliant. I love how Joe is presented as a god to the slaves but to the other tribe leaders they talk back to him as an equal. Much like how world leaders present themselves in one way to the public, but behind closed doors act very differently.
