"Like a Rose" is an original of 90's boyband A1. Very popular in the Philippines because we love Karaoke/videoke machines. They just made a twist or new flavor. Similar with Rap mixed with Female RnB.

Hey Ma! Didn't know who the hell A1 was since I grew up in the US. BUT when i saw her duet with him (Christmas song - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8PlaFBgRdwk.html) she made it so much better!! This song is one of my favorites now.
A1 was a British boy band back in the late '90s and this song Like A Rose was one of their hit song especially here in Asia. But with Morissette's collaboration, this song becomes much better. By the way Morissette and Ben Adams the vocalist of this group has a Christmas song duet last year and that is their original song. Mrs. Bearded has sharp ears. I didn't like the first stanza, too, because the sound was off. But it was brought back to course pronto. I think it was from lack of practice time. I sense Morissette checking the lyrics at least once. And yes, IMHO, she can blend into a chorus, or even a chorale while keeping her 'signature moves'. In fact, her voice blends with the group quite well. I'm sure they can make good music together!
