I also think this hold merit because we see the Lady being obsessed with how she looks and her age. It makes more sense that you lose this power as you get older, and she is trying to prevent it!
A compelling theory. I feel that it falls a little flat when you look at his motivation for turning the children into gnomes. In my opinion, the gnomes have their minds stripped and become servants. Look at how they act like ants on the Maw. I feel that the butler was possibly "stealing" magic and the first gnome was a mishap from inexperience. There is a recurring theme of hive mind like systems. The Maw has the Lady at the top with the patrons and gnomes, the school has the porcelain children serving the teacher. It would stand to reason that the nest felt it better to keep him bound so as to bolster their own power and have the butlers, albeit small, hive assimilated into their own.
I'm so glad your'e covering this game, as I honestly think it adds a whole lot more to the world and lore than LN2 did. As for the butler, I find it interesting how much telekinetic power he still has despite being cuffed. This really makes me curious how magic is identified or categorised in this world, since the lady uses both her hands for nomification or the thin man with his teleportation. It makes one wonder what abilities they would still have if they were in similar restraints.
2 things i came up with from your theory: 1-the craftman could possibly have some powers maybe like the teacher can extend his arms or legs but then the parents broke his bones to disable him. 2-based on your theory, it’s also possible that the butler wasnt working for them but was enslaved by them. Something like a man turning kids into nomes and the parents saw his Telekinesis power that could be helpful for their child and so locked his arms to prevent him from harming the child. Bonus: it’s possible the lock mean they release him sometime to turn some kids into nomes whenever they want. Thats why it has a lock instead of just tying his hands. Edit: it doesn’t necessary mean the butler couldn’t control his power. It possible the parents just wanted to be in control of that power like decide who to be nomed.
The theory seems pretty interesting to me. I'm quite surprised there are still people talking about Very Littoe Nightmares. It's nice that the game still gets some attention. :]
I like this theory! Tbh i thought that the pretender locked Butler's hand cause she always looks angry. Then nomes or a kid took the key because I remember seeing a room with a golden key in it. I thought that the nomes hid the key so the other kids wouldn't be turned but that was my theory!
Interesting theory about the hanging man i saw on someones channel (i forgot lol, you may have seen it too) The theory is that the lady has 2 children. In her room we can see 2 portraits of children - ones on the wall and one's on the floor half covered by a cloth. The girl (who's portrait is hung up) is wearing a dress we see similar to the dress we find in the DLC in the depths, suggesting that the Granny is the lady's daughter who either banished her into the depths because she didn't want a successor (which doesn't make that much sense because why is the portrait up if she doesnt love her) or she put her there for her protection, since the maws not a nice place. There's another portrait we see during the guest chase with the lady and a child, presumably her daughter which we just mentioned, but theres an empty space on the right side of the portrait suggesting maybe someone was painted over? So if we go back to the painting we found on the floor half covered it could be her son. Now why would the lady not like her son?? Well in the pale city there's a home with a portrait of the lady which couldve been her son who ran to the pale city and left the maw because the signal tower started corrupting people and then the Lady got mad at him for leaving. Fast forward, the signal tower starts being goofy, maybe her son runs back to the maw but sees what it and his mother has become, and since we've seen the signal tower cause people to off themselves maybe he did the same, becoming the hanging man. i love this theory, even if there's gaps in it (whos the father? what about the portrait with the pretender and teacher?) but it's so interesting and id love to hear ur thoughts!
I always had the theory that the 3 games are based of the sins of humanity and the locations are the physical embodiment of the sins so the nest being envy because the pretender has the dolls and wanted to control them like the kids that are captured, the maw being gluttony and the TV tower being wrath with mono/thin man seeking out six in revenge
You know, Just a random thought.... I think the eyeball entities need children for a reason. I think the lady was a child like mono is. It seems like they need a human child to transform into a monster that they use to aquire control and sustainance. She always looked too normal for a nowhere resident to me.
This is a really fun thought but I'm almost 100% sure shes dead. If somehow she was the lady, shed have had to change hair color, personalities, and grow into an adult in under a year as six is the same age in every game shes in. However it could be a very fun idea to think that she was SUPPOSED to be the next lady, she was the heir to the throne in a way
