That is insaaane 🔥 It baffles me to realize what an absurdly huge trick book Mullen had. Which is great cause it means we can expect this series of yours to go on for a good while 😊
@heel Aye nice to learn something new everyday! 👌 Didn't say he invented it though, just saying it was in Mullen's trick book, as in: the maneuvers he was capable of doing.
@heel this actually isn't a butterflip at all. It's a disaster reigentes (not sure the spelling). The butterflip goes to a truck stand (pogo) But either way they're both in Rodney's wheelhouse
Ok now, awesome trick, but that's not called a butterflip. Butterflips are railflips to 50-50 (truckstand) done from the Cooper stance, just watch Beau's video(s) on them. What you are doing starts with a "casper disaster" and transition to that flip which I don't know the name of. The casper disaster is called like that because it's like doing a fakie casper 180 but messing up and getting stuck in a railstand with one foot hanging on the griptape because.. well, you were going for a casper. Hope this was helpful, now we need some hardcore freestyler who knows how toe-side railflips from a heel-side railstand are called and we're golden.
This isn't a butterflip. A butterflip is a flip from rail to truckstand. So you start in rail, the board does a 3/4 heelflip, and you catch it in a truckstand. I don't even know if this has an actual name, but it's basically a Reintges flip variation. Also, when going to rail hang your right foot over the edge of the board more. This will let you catch in rail in the correct position without having to almost jump and reposition your foot. Your toes should be on the wheel as it's coming up, about when the board hits 45 degrees.
Yeah, it's easier to hook the board with the middle of the side of the right shoe's sole to go into rail position. That's how Rodney does it, from the looks of it.
Never thought about that little board keep motion with the back foot for that trick, but anyway I think Rodney always started the trick from a full railstand spin (board and wheels on the ground), where you already go to "sideways" board-wheel position, like 45 degrees, without that little railstand spin Rodney does. Other than that - very nice! P.S. Rodney also did that one in 3D Extravaganza part of Almost Round Three just fyi.
That's not Butterflip! Look up Keith Butterfield, rightful owner and creator of the Butterflip! Do your research and know exactly who tricks come from, before talking about them!
Exceeeept that the Casper position was never achieved in this trick. You're right though, the butterflip IS a stationary trick, but so was the Casper until sodney went "hm I bet I could grind that" 🤣that is to say, I think it's more similar to a butterflip than a Casper
All your videos in the past 12 months have been amazing. Covid really pushed the quality boundary of your channel. But this one, I just about liked a little bit more than the others, even tho you only showed this one trick. Tuen mol Büecher läse, gopfristutz nomol :)
I met Keith Butterfield , who invented the butterflip. That's not the classic butterflip , which Is a stationary freestyle trick catching the board in 50/50
Butterflip is something completely different, dude. Butterflip is a half Reintges flip to truck. It was invented by Keith Butterfield - hence the name. .
There’s just 2 tricks called the butter flip, Keith also came up with his after Rodney Mullen did it so, I would say this is more a butter flip, kieth just named a trick after himself they came up with this one before he did
The Reintges flip is different though. It has more of a hangten vibe to it. And what Jonny is doing here is definitely 75% of a Butterflip, but instead of landing in 50-50, he just lands it on the deck. I don't think there's a name for that variation. It's basically a Butterflip to no-50-50...
GOD ALMIGHTY Loves you all give your life to JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY Before it’s to late and live for GOD ALMIGHTY NOT FOR THE WORLD. GOD ALMIGHTY bless you my friends
Awesome Video as usual, but this is not a butterflip. You can find a good How To Do Butterflips from the inventor himself, Keith Butterfield, when you search for it here on RU-vid.
I really love the fact that you show how much work it takes to be able to do these tricks. It's discouraging to see people do it effortlessly without seeing the work they put in to get to that point. Great job! Keep it up!
I was reading through Rodney’s autobiography and it had a picture of him doing this with text at the bottom calling this a “half-cab butterflip”. I apologize we were getting stuck on names more than the trick itself.
Jonny I love you but here is Keith Butterfield the inventor of the butter flip doing his name sake: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HdFuQaBnAGo.html very different. Gotta hat tip to the inventor who competed against RM in the 80s. RM's move is butter flip inspired or a variation but good to go to the source.
