hehe, that's one way of looking at it. They also did that with Tambourine man by only singing one verse! My favourite Byrds Dylan cover by a long way is 'my back pages'. They do all the verses on that one!
I remember Mcguinn Clark Hillman just not the year. No cleaner sound have my ears heard from three guitars...it may have been youth but it was magical....somehow I remember roller skates on stage.... lol
It's on the first Sanctuary compilation, released on vinyl and CD in 2000, and there's three more, Sanctuary II - IV, full of rare/alternate /unreleased Byrds songs from about 1965 - 1970. These are beautiful vinyl reissues from Sundazed. The first three have the best songs.
Hey thanks for the Country Gentlemen recommendation - I agree that it is awesome! I didn't know of them... even at 63, the old dog can learn a new trick. :)
Took your advice... completely different with questionable lyric changes. Joni is brilliant and the arrangement is exquisite but the Byrds remain rock's unquestioned Dylan interpreters with Jimi Hendrix an extraordinary exception.
