Hearing her sing in Greek, with a Greek medieval music in the background makes me so happy. The devs have done a great job here.

The presence of the auloi (greco-roman reed flutes) in the dark ages ost, which you don't get in other ages, really pushes home the point that eastern rome/Byzantium evolved from it's Western counterpart

Nicely observed.

Precision : It's not "roman", it's plain ancient greek, pushing forwards the greek side of the empire

@@Chfoulu The roman version is the tibia/tibiae and it's basically the same instrument. In truth this kind of double flute originated long before the classical period in the middle east and egypt, some of the finds are made out of metal (usually bronze/copper or a similar alloy).

I think the aulos sounds later on aswell, that, or I'm mistaking it for another reed instrument in regards to your observation, I don't know, this instrument is used in both cultures so I don't think it's ment to evoke Rome necessarily but the antiquity in general, kinda like in the 60's people still listened to jazz, which is much older. I think it's suposed to make you feel like you're in that misunderstood period between antiquity and the medieval period :D

In the heart of every Greek beats the rhythm of the Great Byzantine Empire. In those hard and glorious times when the Greeks were building their God-given Kingdom on earth, every stone, every tile, every fresco was laid with faith, love and hope. It was a time when Byzantium was not just a geographical place, but a symbol of light, enlightenment and spiritual rebirth. The Byzantine Empire is not only monumental cathedrals where the echoes of prayers drift to the heavens, not only golden vaults and mosaics shimmering with all shades of blue and gold. It is the soul, the heart, the faith. Faith not only in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, not only in Jesus Christ who came to earth to bring redemption, not only in the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of us all. Greeks also believe in Byzantium. And this faith has not faded even centuries later. Faith in Byzantium is the highest chord of the Orthodox soul. It is not just a historical legacy or an ancient culture. It is part of the DNA of every Greek. The memory of Byzantium is a sacred spark that continues to burn in the hearts of many, reminding us that Byzantium is not dead. It lives in each of us, in every prayer, in every verse, in every gaze directed toward heaven. Mother Byzantium, shrouded in the magic of time, calls to her children. She reminds us that history is not just a series of events, it is our heritage, our blood, our soul. The Greeks have not forgotten the times when Byzantium was the pearl of the world, when its walls reflected greatness and wisdom, when its streets were filled with song and prayer. Let the outside world change, let empires rise and fall, but in the hearts of the Greeks Byzantium will live forever. They are ready to fight, ready to sacrifice, ready to give their lives for the revival of this great empire, because Byzantium is not just a part of history. It is a part of their soul, the source of their faith and an eternal reminder that the Greeks are a chosen people, a great people, a people who carry the light of Orthodoxy through the ages.

The first part she seems to sing keywords about the theme of that age I guess, because she sings words like: 1. Good morning 2. Shadow 3. The trees Things like that which I guess they try to build the mood of that age, with what you are doing with your villagers gathering wood, food etc.

@@Fyrapan90 ohhhh i loved it! thank you, and do you know the word she sings at 4:02 ? i lover her chants.

@Fyrapan90 10 месяцев назад
@@drkduranrz She sings "The trees" at exactly 4:02 then goes on: "shadow, then some humming with a few times repeating it. So it's really simple stuff but it sounds beautiful :) She gives me sometimes Troy the movie vibes.

@@Fyrapan90 She says "σήμερον άλλη ημέρα" ("today [it is] another day"), not "καλημέρα". But otherwise yes, it's just disconnected words to set the mood.

But, where is the Orthodox chants??
@OsmanlijaTR
@OsmanlijaTR 5 месяцев назад
I understand why you would think they would have it. I completely agree that it would sound nice having orthodox chants. I think the main issue here is them trying not to include religious chants because it would maybe offend someone. And if they were to bring in orthodox chants for the byzantines, they would also need to put islamic, catholic, buddhist and tengriist chants as well.
@markuspierce7151
@markuspierce7151 4 месяца назад
@@OsmanlijaTR It shouldn’t have to offend anyone, putting in a chant or hymn wouldn’t hurt anyone, I think it’s less of that and more of they wanna focus on culture rather than religion with the soundtracks
