It’s 2021, drum corps is back in action, and the Cadets received a standing ovation before they finished the show cause people love accompanied fronts!
What a concept!! Create a show that gets a standing ovation before the show is over! Hope they and others do this in the coming years when judges return! Play to the thousands of people in the seats and not a few who are critiquing you!
@@Mrtellitlikeitis it was honestly probably one of the best moves they could have made. A great show with great designers and staff (Darcie Aungst, Ron Lambert, etc.). A greatest hits style that wasn't incredibly complex since there's no worry for scores, and excellently well executed playing/spinning. A perfect way to show drum corps fans/members that Cadets are back
Ive been told, by people that tell me they are better human beings than me, that if you prefer these style of uniforms that it just means you're a bad person
Holy Name Cadets started out back in 1934 chose these original style cadet uniforms. Later on the corp's name was changed to the Garfield Cadets (due to a sponsorship change) but the corp still wore the same uniform . Eventually the corp moved out Garfield & became known as ..The Cadets & home base was out of Bergen field NJ. At some point, the Cadets again decided to move home base to Allentown Pa still sporting the same cadet style uniform. For over 8 decades this same uniform style was worn by the thousands who participated & passed through this organization. Between Cadets, Cavaliers and Phantom this season showed that Everything Old is New Again. I saw this show in Quincy and that crowd went bonkers at the end. Gave me goosebumps and had me wishing I purchased tickets for Lawrence so I could see that show again. Thankfully I do have a Flomarching account and was able to see this show as many times as it was covered. 193 days til DCI makes its Big 50 showings
I think every corps (except Blue Devils) have suffered from fan friendly performances, particularly Madison. But, you have to be clean as well for placement purposes. The shows have really been hurting, but things have changed quite a bit over the last two decades since I have marched. I was playing in the key of G the last time I marched in 1995!!!! 🎶🎺
There is alot of hate for Cadets after the whole Hopkins situation but there are thousands of people who loved the Cadets and this show was them getting the corps they loved so much back.
Why does the crowd like this so much? Because it's DRUM CORPS. I hope at least a handful of groups remember this for 22 and use legit music, no soap operas, and let the music tell the stories. Don't care if it scores 12th or 1st, the fans pay for this whole show so the show designers would do well to remember that. Do fans really care what number the green polo squad give them? No! @@Taz_Woofer I disagree a bit. I think its talent level in the horns and guard. The top 3 are playing balls out stuff and it's very clean. But the reality is kids go to certain groups expecting to get a medal so you're going to get the best of the best in BD, Crown, Bloo etc. BAC was an awesome sleeper last year. This will be a fun year.
@@brown55061 In which I agree but it’s the same way with everything tho. People are gonna go where they feel they’ll succeed at the thing is, is that corps like BD who. Not to knock on them don’t really have that good of a battery arrangement sit back and win every year because they’re considered one of the fan favorites. I’m not knocking on cadets at all I think it’s great they still have traditional unis and still keep to the same concept but so much has changed about Drum corps that in order to compete you gotta make an even better product then the next group meaning that if you have a band like bluecoats that likes to dress up like a skittles ad and make their show artistic you gotta attempt to compete with that. I honestly tho do figure that some of these corps also like to make their shows more interesting because we somewhat faded away from traditional field shows it’s almost people are telling stories with these shows now. Hence why we have voice overs and stuff. But all of that has been around for ages even when we didn’t have voice overs we still had people on the field with microphones. (Not to mention some of these corps have a higher budget now)
I was kind of hoping they would drop in a Z-pull at the end, but I guess the log cabin or general store or rundown warehouse or whatever was in the way.
They did the Z-Pull when they played "Rocky Point" in the middle of their show. Completely lost it when I had a feeling that it would happen right there (basically called it). I was at this East Coast Classic that Thursday Night.
