Recently I've been slightly renovating a save with the packs I have to use as my new default. The Caliente was next on my list because I decided the reason Johnny zest is disowned from the landgraabs is because (in addition to his comedy career) he had a tryst with Nina Caliente out of wedlock and Nina disowned the baby, so now Johnny is a single father. I've seen others use this story before so I turned his trailer house into a 2 bedroom, with decorating priority going to the baby's room 🥺 I didn't do much with the Caliente house except for hiding the bassinet behind a divider in Nina's room

The room they gave don is bad enough to make you almost feel sorry for him and this is coming from someone who orchestrated a giant slap conga to happen to him at his almost wedding in sims 2

I feel like if EA put a table half under a pergola like that we would make fun of them...

I actually grew up in a house that had interior windows! It was an old house that had an extension built onto the kitchen, so I thought don having that tiny room was just him getting a room as an afterthought since it’s what he deserves

I love this build but I downloaded it and immediately rotated the pergola and moved the gate to be even in the middle of the wall. Table perfectly under the pergola, grill off to the side, plant at the end. Lots of room for lounge chairs. It looks so much better, the pergola now fits perfectly.

I think its intentional for most houses to have that unfinished or incomplete look so that players can modify them to their taste if they do decide to play the goth's or caliente's character

LOVE this builds, reminds me a lot of the homes that I see in Southern California. Great work with the exterior, I would have placed the outdoor eating space under the pergola due to the extreme heat - no one wants to bake while they are eating anything.

Their house looks very similar to the caliente house in the sims 2, so I can kinda see where EA was trying to go with it also, I live in the southwest in a stucco shingled house that looks very similar, and it has TWO chimneys 😤

Don’s bedroom is totally why I made the Calientes vampires one playthrough and Don their blood bag! 😂 Unfortunately Oasis Spring is very sunny and Don was freed because they one by one offed themselves in the sun when I wasn’t paying attention.

So when I first started Sims 4 after decades away from the franchise, I didn't remember any of the lore or many of the townies. So my first Sim goes looking for love and ends up with Don Lothario. Once they were married, I found his Serial Romantic aspiration, so I played to it. That was how I learned that Sims who are mad at each other won't share a bed, lol. In the end, Dina who had twins and another child from Don, came into our house and autonomously proposed to Don while he was still married to my Sim. He left her with SIX children to look after. I still have a bit of a grudge against the Calientes. 🤣

I just renovated this place last week, but now I wanna redo it in a different way. Except the pool/hot tub. I'm quite happy with what I did for those. Maybe I'll still come up with something cooler. Studying first, gaming later.

i remember when i decided to play like with a young adult/uni student who moved to a new city/town and lives in a foster(???) family (i’m sorry eng isn’t my first language). so i randomly chose a family and it was caliente family haha and i definitely upgraded their house while living there it was so nice!

Errr so you put in a chimney for interest and realism and then put the fire on the other side of the house against an interior wall?? and you put in a pergola (designed for shade) and move everything out from underneath it??? You give out about the lack of space in the back after "shrinking" everything in the house as a deliberate choice and praising it, as well as never once apparently considering to "move the fence" and bring it out so that the kitchen extension can look into its own garden? You go to the bother of looking up the sims likes and dislikes then ignore them in favor of your own?? (not consistently though but I think thats the theme of this build) but most of all you make an honest admission that your not familiar with buildings in the Hispanics/Desert style and want to give the calientes them "iconic" home they deserve and never once consider maybe idk ... looking up some reference images??!? I suspect that if you had the struggle with the windows wouldn't have been quite so painful. On that note I couldn't quite tell with the video angles but did you leave that downstairs bathroom with no window whatsoever?? I don't mean to come of as being snarky for the sake of it but your a fantastic and experienced builder and this video/build shows none of that; it feels like a dial in token effort and I just don't understand why you feel the need to do that?

I like it but poor Don 🤭! I never cared about the ladies but I love Donny boy. He even ended up my legacy Gen 5 spouse after I made him an immortal spellcaster.

Idk if this even counts a "reno" but when i tried to build a new house for the Calientes I immediately moved them to a bigger lot. I wanted to put in a home gym bc of Don's backstory and a pool and the Calientes NEED a hot tub of course

I think the sims 4 made a weird choice to put the calientes in such a traditional house. When I think of this family I think of Miami, neon lights, plastic bubble chairs and chrome fixtures. The original house sims 4 and this current house by simsie makes it seems as if they come from moral backgrounds, and we know that the Caliente’s have no morals.

I think I've played that household maybe twice in the 5 years I've played Sims 4 but that's mostly because I always play with Sims I create rather than premade Sims. The house looks a lot better now.
