L'appel du large; Matelotage Traditionnels et aArts Marines; The call of the Open Sea; Traditional Seamanship and Marine Arts. Of all the books that I own, this one contains some of the most beautiful pictures and excellent examples of rope work.
Although I do not speak French, this is my go to book for inspiration when wanting to create a decorative project in rope.
This I believe is a very expensive book, so do look out for it on eBay etc.

Looks like a wonderful book,could I pick your brains on cordage? I'm having trouble finding decent small stuff.There is a place down here called Bogey Knights but they only go down to 8mm,could you give me some pointers on where to get 3/4/5mm hard lay cordage? The Internet is really hit or miss Cheers

I'm doesn't being able to read or even understand a single word of French either. But you are absolutely right, these pictures are so beautiful and inspiring that it's worth to buy the book just for the pictures. Thank you for presenting it here.
