That's what i like about Runeterra, each place is different having their own themes & feel. It reflects our world well like how different the Ancient Greek World is compared to the Asian feel or Aztec.
It's worth mentioning that this cinematic is set in the future compared to Arcane, because Arcane is an origin story. With that aside, yes it's the same universe
@@miklauzknaus yeah but when you think that in piltover there are empresses aswell which even are under the gods you will see the relationship kinda cuz leona ( the sun empress) in this cinematic is one which the empresses of piltover are worshipping it makes perfect sense
@@miklauzknaus demacua uses a lot of magic that they are ignorant to. for example garens sword is imbued with magical power. a lot of the nobility also hide their magical powers (like lux)
Okay so you've got three main scenes here. You've got the Freljord, snow & ice place, which features the characters Sejuani(blonde woman on the boar), Olaf, dude with the horned helmet & the two axes, and the Volibear. Sejuani is the leader of the Winter's Claw tribe/clan, Olaf is her enforcer, and the Volibear is a demigod who hates humans & wants to make the Freljord great again. Then you've got Shurima, which is basically Egypt, where Kai'Sa & Taliyah are exploring some ruins and are attacked by the void monster Rek'Sai. Kai'Sa is the one in the skin-tight suit who fires the purple missiles and Taliyah is the earth bender. The Void is horrible monsters from beyond time and space; Kai'Sa is the way she is because she was mutated by the void as a child & uses her powers to fight against it. Then there's Mount Targon, which is essentially Mount Olympus where mortals are imbued/possessed by the powers of the gods to become Aspects. Pantheon is the spartan looking guy who has the powers of the Aspect of War, but retains his human mind & fights for humanity's freedom from the gods. Leona, the woman with the sword & shield, is the Aspect of the Sun & defender of Mount Targon who probably isn't happy with Pantheon's aggressive atheism. No idea what the meteor shower is about, though. Then the framing device I guess is Ornn, the big furry dude forging the sword. He's another demi-god of the Freljord & brother to the Volibear, but more protective of humanity.
That wasn't VOlibear himself, that was the Ursine, Followers who give themselves to the Volibear. In fact Sejuani may be approaching him for his favor, but she has to prove herself by fighting.
As the guy above me said, the Ursine warriors here are just Shamans who worship the Volibear. The Volibear is a primal God. If he were there in person, Sej and her tribe would have stood no chance. He does appear, though. He's the giant bear in the clouds that the shaman draws power from. If you pay attention, he's watching from the clouds for the entire fight, but he wasn't there in person.
So basically this follows three main storylines + Ornn's small scenes. Ornns Scenes: Ornn is the god of forgecraft. He does NOT make weapons. Hell, he made a fork once for his own use, disliked it for some unknown reason, and threw it away. It was found later on and was regarded a god tier trident weapon. It was a simple item he forged and it had that much power. But here, he purposefully made a sword. Which means a great danger is going to happen in league lore soon, that even ornn would break his no-weapon forging rule over. That sword is also believed to be Infinity Edge. One of the highest attack stat items you can buy ingame. Storyline 1: Sejuana and her crew. She is taking the fight to Volibear. The bear-people she is fighting arent voli himself, but the Ursine. People transformed by Volibears power permanently and a chosen few can channel his lightning. Shes with Olaf as you saw. Storyline 2: Kai'Sa and Taliyah. These two are investigating an old town that seems destroyed. Seeing as the children of Rek'Sai are there, the void most likely devoured the townspeople. They fight the little void spawn and then their broodmother, Rek'Sai. Kai'Sa worked very hard to escape the void, so for her to jump back in so deep at the end is suprising. Storyline 3: Pantheon fighting the Solari. Pantheon is trying to fight back against the Aspects. Why? Well I'm not sure other than his specific hate for them. The massive blast that hits him as he fought Leona is a star shot off by Aurelion Sol. Who is enslaved by Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight. Unfortunately Aurelion Sol is the most powerful champion in all the lore. So i dont know how Pantheon expects to win, nor do i know what hes fighting for here. He stands no chance against Aurelion though. Why did riot post this? Because the future events this year will complete these stories. A Void based event will happen, and something with Sej and Pantheon will occur in lore as well.
It's same universe. The people in this video though are from different locations. They might eventually be brought into Arcane, but my guess is that season 1 is about piltover and Zaun, season 2 will dive more in Noxus and other areas. Having said that, not every cinematic is cannon to league world/ or cinematics because league has many universes. Different in-game skins are often not cannon to the main story.
Ehm now, there is a void rift in Zaun, deep under the mining dolmas, which Malphite is slowly destroying. So even some campaigns stopped there so that the sleeping void borns wouldn't wake up. ;)
When i was watching Arcane i had those thoughts, what if any other character from Leage showed up in the Zaun xD I mean, every character in Arcane is regular human, some are boosted with the shimmer and some are equiped with epic weapons, but they are still relatively weak, there are literal gods and demi-gods out there xD If Panteon decided to help Vi and Cait he would crash whole Zaun criminal underworld in one afternoon ;p Not even mention someone like Ornn, who is primal god and can literally uplift whole moutain range.
League has many Areas or Zones as you would call them, Arcane Takes place on the zone of Piltover and Zaun, which is like a seperate country of its own entirely, Piltover and Zaun are normally in trade with Noxus (which is another country in a different zone which is constantly starting all kinds of sht with other zones, Namely Ionia, Demacia and the Freljord) Then there is Ionia the land of the furries and the weebos Theres Noxus which consists of most of the badasses and manly dudes and ladies Theres Demacia, they hate mages and everything about them, having a sort of a civil war atm, Theres Targon, the people there are weird and there are a lot of aspects/gods etc. Theres the Freljord, shits frozen to hell, and barbarian clans live there, Theres Bilgewater, which is pirate lands for the one piece fans, Theres Shadow Isles, Ghost People land, creepy dudes here, Theres Shurima, Big Desert, but also lots of powerful dudes here. so yeah i think thats the entire thing....their worlds called runeterra instead of earth and these are the zones it has, they're all pretty big land wise so the stories are rather vast.
My answer's kinda late, but to summarize, LoL has many universes but the main story of all champs focuses in Runeterra, where you find what you saw in Arcane and many others (shurima, Ionia, etc).
As great as Arcane is, it is technically not connected to the main LoL lore. It is to LoL what the MCU is to Marvel Comics: Same car but with a different paint job and a few new decals added on for the hell of it.
Arcane takes place in just one of the 10 reagions of runeterra. Also piltover and zaun is the less "fastastic" region. There is no magic there. If you want to know a little more about all te regions you should react to the legends of runeterra cinematics.
You can understand a bit more about the desert chicks story: the image without face in the mountain is called "The Faceless Goddess" and is a symbol of hope for shurimans, desert's people, the people of the earth bender chick named Taliyah. She have to throw her into the hole to help her friend Kai'Sa but to her, is like a newyorker demolishing the Statue of Liberty or a parisian demolishing the Eiffel Tower with his own hands. She is throwing the mountain with her hearth breaking.
The League Universe is alot bigger ... Arcane takes place in Piltover/Zaun meanwhile in the video we got : Ornn forging a weapon ... Ornn is the forge god .. sitting under his mountain alone ... he hasnt forged a weapon in eons and stood aside from all Freljordian infights between clans.. but for him forging now a weapon seems to be like a declaration of war from a god Sejuani is a warmother (she leads the Winters Claw) clan and is fighting the Ursine ( Volibears followers, Volibear is the demigod of thunder and a brother to Ornn, Volibear and Ornn dont like each other) Atreus ( the spartan guy) was once Pantheons vessel , Pantheon being the Aspect of War in Mount Targon(Aspects are similar to gods) until a fight with Aatrox occured , Aatrox managed to kill Pantheon but not the vessel itself , so Atreus(as a mortal) still retains some of the Aspects power and seeks to return back to Mount Targon but is denied by the Solari Tribe and their Aspect Leona (the armored girl with shield and flaming sword) And at last we have Kaisa and Talyah searching for something in the Shuriman Desert where they get ambushed by the Xer'sai (void creatures similar to landsharks ) and their Queen at the end Reksai ( also a playable champion ingame)
Yup, Arcane is on LoL universe but like...10 years before, the same characters as Caitlyn, Vi, Jinx, Jayce are like in they 18-19 years old. I would recommend you to react to LoL skins splash arts
It's the same universe. These three places are called: 1. Freljord: the icy land with sejuani and Olaf battling the ursine tribe. 2. Shurima: Desert with Taliyah and kai'sa battling Rek'sai 3. Mount Targon: The mountain of gods as one can ascend to godhood here. Battle between Pantheon and Leona.
yep, its in the same universe, arcane is just in 1 out of many countries in the league of legends universe, for arcane it's piltover and zaun. And for this cinematic its in Freljord (icy country), Shurima (desert) , and Targon (Mountainous)... random but i also wonder what will happen to arcane once they introduce other countries, its like guns and machines versus beast, Gods, and even celestial beings
this and arcane are in the same world. however arcane takes place In piltover/zaun and this takes place in 3 different places. the 2 girls fighting the monsters (xer'sai and their queen rek said) are currently in icathia (don't know the if spelling is correct) in the empire of shurima. and woman with the boar and the buff as hell berserker are from the frozen continent of freljord and the bearded legen and the sun girl are from targon, a place where humans are given aspects and become gods.
With the world of runeterra, you have to keep in mind, that league of legends has 140+ champions, each with their own, more or less rich, history and all of them come from not just the same universe, but mostly also from the same planet. There is good reason why there are entire channels dedicated to explaining the lore, it is just that complex. Arcane only features the steampunky region of piltover and zaun so far, but there are a lot of other themes in that world. Tried and true medieval fantasy, both light and dark; survival amidst endless snow or the grinding sands of time; ancient civilizations being uncovered and reawakening, while more modern inventions are made elsewhere; attunement to nature's balance and trust in technology; classically spooky regions and legitimate cosmic horrors; even gods and religions have a place in this universe. It is utterly mindboggling what sort of a universe they have managed to create, when next to none of it ever really comes into play in league itself.
They are trying to make Arcane canon with the league story but the problem is as u can see in this cinematic all other region are too powerful so when you put Zaun and Piltover "Arcane" into the mix they won't hold a candle to any of these character.
Characters in order of appearance: - Ornn, 1:27, the unit who is forging - Sejuani, 1:40, the one riding her animal - Taliyah, 1:51, the one who picks up the rag, - Kai'sa, 1:53, the one who is behind Taliyah - Pantheon, 2:05, shield and spear guy - Olaf, 2:13, viking guy in the cold scene, arms the size of my torso - Leona, 3:30, the one with the shield and sword who attacks Pantheon - Rek'Sai, 4:50, she is the creature that crawls out of the huge pit Some think that the giant light shot that took out Pantheon, 3:55, might be a character called Zoe, one of her abilities looks very similar. Some think Aurelion too.
Aurelion would make a lot more sense though. His and Zoes stars look very similar and we already have established background for those two. Would also fit with the other big dangers (Voli/Void etc) + meteor shower is one of the created cards from Asol in LoR. Atreus diving towards the galaxyclouds is also really asol like.
@@moonmon2872 Kind of depends on if he is still controlled by Targon via the Crown or not. Not sure if Leonas dodge was planned or not. If it is him it would mean he either broke his chains and now attacks Targon or the Aspects are using him as a weapon.
the people in the comments haven't seen any of the writers comments about Arcane. League's main universe and Arcane are not the same, Arcane is based on the main universe, but is not the main universe. This is why the character stories on the League Universe website don't connect very well with Arcane.
