The second shear bolt holes are usually there for back up, when the original holes get worn out from shearing too many times, the more ware the quicker they shear.

Chet, you are what the definition in Mirriam Webster dictionary should define as a "GO GETTER". You have so much passion for farming that it's almost unreal, but yet you show it in every episode. LOL, the scenery in the morning was beautiful harvest sun rise, only thing is, most of the time those views only come at sunset, so it was just backwards from the norm. Just a thought here, instead of having flags at your tile outlets that have to be moved every plant/harvest season, why not utilize "air tags"? Seems like those would do away with flags and headaches.
@redrose41000
@redrose41000 11 месяцев назад

Chet and team, really enjoy you bringing us along and showing just how productive a great working team can be in getting even the most frustrating of tasks done with patience. Mother nature is a driving force in helping you farm as well as preventing you from farming. Love the positivity and hard work energy. You were up before the sun where many other people your age were still sleeping. "The early bird catches the worm" is what separates the doers of this nation IMO.

A radio report this morning talked about how the carbon tax is costing Canadian farmers extra money for grain drying. Some "average" farmers are spending an extra $150,000 because our prime minister wants to show the world how much he can cut emissions. One wonders where his head is. . . . be nice.

Thanks for another great video Chet. It was interesting. Thanks for showing us the difference in the corn from that area where fertilizer did not get applied properly. Quite a bit of a production yield difference for sure. That was interesting Chet. Thanks. Trying to beat the rain. Always the way it is towards the end. And then you had a breakdown. Believe you said it was a shear bolt. Had to shut auger off under full load so that is probably what broke the shear bolt. My guess anyway. You and Eric got it fixed and going again. Yea!!!!! Where did Dougo put all that corn. Believe you said all the spare bin space was full. He figured out something to do with it. Oh boy. About it I guess. Thanks for everything Chet. You all take care and be safe. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.

"8.8 mm metric bolt " Its not what the markings on the bolt mean, it the material grade of the bolt= strengt and yeld point. In the case of a 8.8 grade bolt the first figure signifies that the Tensile Strength is at least 800MPa. The second figure signifies that the fastener will begin to yield at 80% of the Ultimate Tensile Strength, i.e. at least 640MPa.
