I tend to shoot Aperture priority with manual iso but I guess that’s just a habit I have from shooting on an old Nikon where I had to go manual iso

I shoot 99% of time in Aperture priority, with Sony with ISO Auto - but sometimes it bumps it too high so I adjust manually, but one creative thing I'll try for sure is exposing for highlights - the setting you told in the video. Also, I find wide focus mode with eye/face AF very good, I shoot only this way. Until now, at least.

I just preset it depending on my surrounding. Usually it’s so much light outside that I don’t need to use anything more than 200-400 iso. Even if it underexposes just a tad bit it’s usually easily fixable

@@enqine2321 Hey! No one responded so I hope you kinda figured this out. But if not, they not have their place. But what he’s taking about is for your quick shot setup. Aperture will almost always affect your image because of depth of field. For shutter speed you’ll only have an effect if it’s low enough to blur motion (yours from shaking the camera or the subjects) l. For most photos, especially if you’re trying to catch a photo quickly, you want no motion blur. Also if you do want motion blur for artistic reasons, you’re going to be having to plan and compose the photo more anyways.

On older cameras with a slower shutter rate/fps single shot can help you train and catch the exact moment of action you want; if you have a good trigger finger! I always find on my canon 70d that I end up missing the exact point of action and getting shots, either side of it - where I started shooting prior to the moment and then trusted the camera to capture right moment.. especially when using live view because youre shooting blind after you open the shutter

You could use an ND if you wanted a shallower DOF, or just use a smaller aperture and a high shutter speed.

With canon. I usually keep the white balance in sunny because auto white balance usually keeps making my photos more warm and orange

There should be an option in the menu settings to set the minimum shutter speed. First menu tab 5

I love Av but sometimes the auto iso gets all over the place , pretty annoying if you have to shoot quick not realizing the setting are now f*cked up 😝. I think i will keep shooting Av but in pretty good situation only . I think Manual is the way to go if you have a camera that is easy to use , set & if you're not in rush obviously

Didn't know about the shutter speed limit you cant se on the camera when in Aperture mode, but although I activated it on 250, if I'm pointing to a darker spot, it still goes under 250. What did I missed guys ?

Did you set a max ISO limit too? First, check if it’s on auto. If it is, maybe your camera is trying not to surpass either your max iso or shutter speed, but the exposure can’t get right without breaking one of those “rules.” Maybe it’s just valuing the iso over the shutter speed? I know it’s 11 months later so if you found a fix, I’d love if you’d leave a reply for people in the future!

Doesn't really matter if you shooting in manual white balance especially when it comes to Sony color reproduction. You can shoot in kelvin 3200-10000K and the color still wont match what you see unless you create profile with things such as xrite passport where you really calibrate your camera to the hues of the scene. This manual white balance is same as trying calibrate your monitor using your eyes instead of calibration device... Once you in Raw it really doesn't matter unless you create color profile used later in captureOne, LR, cameraRaw, etc 😉

Focusing by half pressing the shutter button is a brilliant engineering invention that I would not pass onto. Besides being quicker than back button focusing, it also allows you to operate the camera one handedly much easier and more secure. Also it is much easier to shoot at the ground level by using your thumb to click the shutter button. Imo it is much better to set the back button to lock the focus... which you will barely use if you learn to keep the focusing point on your subject instead of recomposing. Recomposing is a skill from the past when we used to have only that many focusing points and all cluttered at the center...

@@daandy952 if you dont like Canon or Nikon, you can go for Sony A7 3... or if you have the budget for A1 or A7 S serie but the latest one... i am Canon shooter so don't know much about sony since i don't do any research about them. What i am saying is just based on some reviews i have seen. But Sony lenses and damn expensive...unless you wan to pair your camera with Canon lens, so required adapter etc. And with adapter, you wont ve getting the full output from both combo. But it is everyone. taste

The A7 2 seems to have the weakest battery in the serie people use to say... if you don't mind getting few extra batteries, you can go for it... Sony cameras have one of the best ISO control. You will be killing it for night photos...
