I *backed* the campaign - by paying literally the smallest amount possible so that I could ask questions and make comments. The trend of deleting critical comments was present there as well. They posted a link to images which upon examination of the EXIF data, revealed that they could not have been taken with the camera (they were terrible images anyway, so why bother?). It took a long time and a lot of pressure to eventaully have them put at the bottom of the campaign that the lenses were manual focus only. I wouldn't care, but from the looks of it, the vastly superior Pentax Q is smaller and cameras like the Lumix GM-1 or Olympus PEN E-PL series aren't much larger.

They have changed the mount to c-mount which I think reveals more about how far along they are with the design (not far enough) and they have opened up late pledges so that you can still give them money to maybe receive a camera. I pledged the absolute minimum amount, so I won't get all updates as I'm just a 'believer' in the project. I do wondfer at what the uality will eventually be like with this camera. I suspect that there will be a lot of very disappointed people - or maybe like the cybertruck - disappointed people that still say it is the best camera that they have ever owned.

Lol, I watched Kai's video on the Y35 and the ending is wonderful! As for the MiMi, its an uphill batt- actually they're up against the wall. In the vlogging space, people will just get a action camera like the Insta360, DJI or GoPro, all featuring image stabilization. In the tiny interchangeable mirrorless camera world, the Micro Four Thirds system is well established with huge selection of lenses and small bodies, if you want something wayy smaller, Pentax Q, Samsung NX Mini and Nikon 1 system in the used market have that field covered.
I was soooo stoked for this when this initially launched, but the sus signs were shining bright by the end of the campaign. It was such a cool idea with the swappable cartridges. Oh well. Great vid dude.

A very common tactic of Creators of KS, they / their friend / investors pay to make it to pledge goal to make it more legit, and then back out when more backers joining
It is always disturbing that a once great name gets sold off to hokey companies which attempt to milk the heck out of it. Yashica (my first '35 was a Lynx 1000 back in the 60s), 'Bell and Howell' is now crappy flashlights, Elgin watches... the list goes on. Not illegal, but really sad.
Yashica should have kept the Nicca RF models (last ones YE and YF, when Yashica bought the company) for a few more years. The last models were excellent poor man's Leica's.
When people stop buying the old garbage you have to -creatively- deceptively market new garbage to separate fools from their money. _Mission accomplished_ !
My heart bleeds and my soul hurts. The legend didn't deserve that. They finally killed her. The second campaign in particular is a cheeky thing . I'm puzzled as to how people would give up money for something like that. The sensor is so tiny, whereas the one on the Q10 is huge.
Yashica got rid of their actual camera department a long while ago. Thinking that they would bring back any decent camera is just wishful thinking at this point unless they bring a company such as MINT onboard who are actually capable of creating near 1:1 clones of analog/vintage camera systems and enhancement to those in the same high quality fashion as the originals.
The battery "challenge" isn't all that bad. I've actually stuffed a li-ion cell (from a single use vape) inside with a voltage regulator. E35 with a Type C charging port and focus assist lamp, how bow dah?
It's a shame because I loooooooooove my Yashica Electro-- and of course, the existence of the Y35 doesn't nullify the existence of my Electro. But in an era where film is experiencing such a resurgence, when Pentax is planning to release more film cameras... It's just a shame that a brand like Yashica is too busy putting out doo doo poo poo products to release something of actual value. Thanks for watching!!
It's crazy to see what companies will do to keep their name relevant for the fanbase. Hoping Pentax will do better than Yashica at least they aren't running kickstarters and stealing from people lol
It is not something the original brand is doing, it is a different company that owns the rights to the name that is doing this. Much like the Bell & Howell name is pretty much slapped on a lot of crap nowadays.
The film photography crowd is full of very uninformed people spreading misinformation. I like film and enjoy the process, but I am so tired by the community being so gullible, stubborn, and illogical.
