Emily Carr wasn't just representing Victoria or Canada she was an artist of the Pacific Northwest and thus belongs to BC, Washington and Oregon more than she is a Canadian. She documented the first nations that lived along the Cascade region, not bound by borders or state laws. People in Washington have more in common with her than all of Canada.
