The longstanding dress code in the Capitol has made headlines this week after Speaker Paul D. Ryan reminded members in June to “wear proper business attire.” Roll Call Senior editor David Hawkings and CQ appropriations reporter Kellie Mejdrich have the facts on the dress code for women and men on the House side of the Capitol.

Professionals, whether men or women, should dress professionally in the workplace. Hopefully, changes in cams scanning the House will impact that. I do not believe that sleeveless tops, T-shirts, or gym attire are appropriate for any gender. We should see more of our representatives at work, but less of their bodies such as armpits and cleavage.
