The Car and the Ramp

In this video we use the Scientific Method to develop an experiment to solve the following problem. As a ramp's height is increased, what will happen to the speed of a car traveling down the ramp?. Using a data table to record our times we run each change in height through three trials to get an average time. We use this time along with the distance of travel to calculate the speed of the car. Once our speed is calculated we develop graphs to see visually what the differences are to form our conclusion to support or disprove our hypothesis.

when you increase the height it allows it to accelerate more because its dropping from a greater distance , and it could also depend on the weight of the object to see how fast it would go ~ Diamond 8-8

I think that the speed on the inclined plane cannot be equal to that on horizontal . So it should be measured the time taken for travelling the distance of inclined plane and the distance of horizontal separately.

Which surface does the car roll faster and roll slower?

We were not necessarily testing surface friction but height. I have done sliding friction with different surfaces and as you would imagine a rough surface slows the speed or momentum. Rolling objects such as a cart would not have much effect.

Have you ever attempted to place a coin on the car and see what happens when the car hits a barrier? I've attempted in our classroom, and only a handful of students can get a similar results. Curious to find someone who has done this.

when ever he added a book the little car went faster and it got more speed bc the ramp went higher and higer. When the ramp went higher the time got lower and everytime they were done with their three trials they rounded uo the three trials and got the average time.

Aside from that the guy is clearly pushing it (hence the massive time differences), some may also think that a lower gradient would suggest greater distances travelled (vertical drop equals no lateral movement) and conclude that may equate to a greater speed at the end of the desk. Or maybe they're just gambling because they don't trust their instincts. GKorFK.
