Karen and I were both born in 1950. When the Carpenters became popular it was very un-trendy to like them. But when I started enjoying music for its own sake, I came to the realisation that Karen's voice was probably the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. Her loss is a tragedy, but her gift to us will live for ever.

It was Karen Carpenter seeing that video that set the wheels of diets and anorexia into motion.
@ashleyvestal9030
@ashleyvestal9030 3 года назад
@@pastelskies8466 yes - I didn't know that but I assumed. I was diagnosed in 1986 with anorexia at the age of 16. It was just after my mother (a former beauty queen obsessed with being thin) had me watch a cheerleading video of myself where I realized how "fat" I was. She said a lot. This preceded 2 decades of hospitalizations, etc. I fortunately had an amazing endocrinologist (Dr. Jerome S. Fischer) in San Antonio, TX who took me under his wing and I got better for the most part. I believe many people probably commented on this video to Karen at the time.

Reminds me of Dana Johnson St Louis Missouri.. then some 16 years later after I lived in Memphis for about 7 years I met her again who would think like to see you again Dana hope everything's going good for you. Keep on keeping on girl you're still as beautiful in my mind as you was in my eyesight back then miss you woman J Koch... Lincoln School...

My mom says this song reminds her of me. Geesh when your mom says that how humbled can you get? Karen’s voice and pure talent are unmatched.

Europe here. Every time I see her in the videos and hear her sing, I want to beam myself back 50 years, fly over to the USA and drive to her and ask, "Can I help you in any way? You are beautiful and good just the way you are."

I don't know if this is the exact concert, but there was someone from the crew, or just a person that was known, anyway that person mentioned that she looked fat in that outfit. And that's supposedly when she got really self conscious about her looks. I heard that in a Bio about the carpenters. I'm sure it won't be to hard to find if searched. but if that was the case, that is so sad. Very sad either way....True talent lost.

Noboby can sing like Kaen Carpenter , she is ethereal , original , her singing was unique , her voice a contra alto whit a powerful sound in low notes and a precise beautiful sound in higher notes , her performance had a real feeling , she had a nostalgic Angel s singing . i really love Karen Carpenter , Awesome real Artist

🤔I've heard a few other renditions of this song that she sang over the years, but in this verson she shows more maturity and really pours out her ❤! Wow, she really brings back memories of a kinder gentler Era in the 70s for me. 😭 Hope you love it as much as me😉🥰🤩

The reason she became anorexia is because she read the newspaper and they described her as “chubby” and from that moment she was hurt and she began her diet and her family and friends were cheering her but then as soon as she continue her body change was on jeopardy 😢😢😢
