The Carrack really is iconic of Star Citizen in its current state: "Just imagine how [each and every highlighted feature] _could_ be, one day, eventually, maybe..."

A new age will come, and the Carrack will rise again, HOLD!

Every time I am on my Carrack, I'm just reminded of the fact I have no friends to crew it with.

I mean, all of it's functionality isn't even there yet, so it can't be dead, it's never been alive. The Med Bed still heals more than the rover bed, so it still has a purpose. The Polaris is a corvette torpedo boat, the Carrack is designed to explore and find undiscovered wormholes. If this game ends up being what it should, there should be competition between all manufacturers for similar role ships, so there will (and should) be a lot of redundancy.

I still have my Carrack. It survived the Galaxy, Polaris, and even the Odessy. I'll never get rid of it. Even if it dies... my Carrack is Home. C8R and Nursa make mine a full-blown mobile medical hospital to be deployed where ever.

Although you were merely a small part of the ccu chain, good Carrack, for the five minutes I had you, it was golden. I will always carry your name reservation with me.

Just make the side doors open CIG. Actually if they make it so ships will not blow up any more then Haulers will use nothing but the Carrack because you can not get the cargo out of it.

Meanwhile, my 890 still has a pool and remains useful.

It does feel like the carrack has just been... forgotten about. There are rooms that are meant to do stuff and they simply don't. I hope whenever exploration is properly introduced along with jump points then it will find its light again. But for now it is a shadow of its past self. The fact it cant store any cargo now in 3.23 is nothing short of criminal.

Nope ... I will hold the line . The Carrack has a bright future and has a tier 2 medbed and 2 tier 3's when it gets the gold standard pass.

The carrack was the first big ship I purchased with new cash, with that said I call it the make believe ship. It just needs a rework, alot of wasted space. I don't really see the point of having two bridges in a ship of that size. It also needs a second ground entrance

One things for sure, the future biggies owe a mountain of thanks to the lessons learned from the Carrack, 890, Reclaimer, all designed before gameplay loops. They were needed to showcase CiGs skill, help fuel the dream and fund the future. CiG will return to honor the legacy ships.... i mean the Retali.... opps, well the Freelancer update...... errrrrr ...... but LOOK at how shiny the new ones are!!!

Thats why we need AI blades and NPC crew. Some people dont wanna realize it, but nearly noone wants to sit 99% of its time idle to watch someone playing. Also they have the wrong priorities and get nothing done.

I have a Carrack that I have not used in years, I have currently converted into another "wunder ship" that does not exists that is the Oddisey. So many dreams not made true......however I still have hopes that in the long future, when we do have 200 solar systems and working NPC, such kind of ships will become useful and relevant.

Nah, the Carrack isn't dead. She's hybernating until gameplay is added to the ship. ;-) That ship is my home, a small base on its own right. There are only two contenders to that role in my fleet: the Ironclad Assault, which is a good base for deep space operations, but kinda lacks the "home" thing. The other one is the Polaris that ALSO can act as a deep space operation base and comes with roughly the same features plus much, much, much more firepower. It even feels like home. However, it's running cost will be prohibitive, so I doubt I'll pull 'er from hangar that often unless a military task is at hand and the firepower is needed for a organization wide event. In other words: it's up the player what ship "is dead" and what is not. In case of my Carrack: she's waiting for her day to shine.

The endless times I fell through the Carrack into the void, while quantum travelling, and the subsequent hours wait for it's reclaim at the console in a remote station where I respawned...

We will see you again when it comes to find new jump points. Maybe in my grandchildren's lifetime.

I have the Carrack as a loaner for my galaxy. My only qualms? Limited firepower and a limit to ground vehicle carrying capacity. It does act as a good assault ship for raids. But even then eventually the Perseus and Polaris will be able to fill the assault ship role far greater. The Perseus with its giant guns, and the Polaris being a good all rounder.

I think the Carrack is far from dead. When they do it's rework, because they have no choice but to with physicalized cargo. Once exploration is actually a thing and drones are added in the game the Carrack will be great again. But yes, CIG does a great job ruining ships for years at a time thanks to the lack of working game features. Excellent video, as always.

The Carrack is supposed to be a heavily armored military explorer transport. Hopefully they will double down on the heavily armored part to make the Carrack still shine. I would love it to be the pirate proof cargo ship option.

My dear friend, the shortcomings of our beloved Carrack fill me & thousands across the verse with gloom & desolation at what she could have been. Yet I see a glimmer of hope amongst the horizon; our shelter of refuge, our love, our.. home - she is but a child. A youngling in this unforgiving system we reside in. Us likeminded individuals shall not surrender, but instead unite, to stand by our Carracks side - day & night - providing nurture and foster in the chapel of our arms, to support our infant child as she cultivates & flourishes into the beautiful wonder she one day will be. Then, we rest, not now, as only in future can she take care of us - through rain, storm & squaller. We'll look back and be glad we never gave up hope on our troubled child. Thank you. 🤠

Oh, the melodrama. The amount of people I've seen jumping the gun on ship designs is fairly hilarious.

People forget the carrack is entirely for scanning and creating maps. It just happens to have a lot of utility to it

They were very clear that they will not rework the first generation ships, they will just make a version 2 and scrap generation 1. We see it (frist one) was the Hornet and it work REALY greatly $$$ ...just SAD... Un GROS manque de respect pour la communeauté... !

As a scammer psychic I see a gold pass coming in Carrack future, 1 component changes to capital, Drones that work, Lighting rework, Maybe a small size bump to top section/hanger, Armory moved closer to front section but not close enough. Modules that are also bugged, a ramp that is still bugged & flips the ship. ~ Plz look forward to it™

Since exploration game play isn't in-game yet, the only real use for the Carrack has been cargo... and now, unless something is planned for 3.23.2 that we don't know about yet, the ship won't even be viable for that. The ship becomes effectively no different than a concept.

I don't use the Carrack much, it's too big for most of the missions I do. It's probably the biggest ship I'll ever fly, all the capital ships that people get hyped for don't interest me much nor do I plan on having a need for one. I'll likely spend more time using a Pisces to shuttle between ports than I would use the Carrack, but it'll always be a cool ship to me.

The carracka medbay is a full hospital while the ambulqnce only revives and does simple fixes.

As an owner of a loaner Carrack, I must exclaim. I still want to live on this ship the most!

LOL! This was funny, but I mean, the Carrack is one of the ships that's gone longest without an update. Once it gets a gold pass, I'm sure it'll be quite useful again. The cargo pods will open, the back will have an elevator that extends to the ground, and it's supposed to get drones of some kind? I still use mine for all kinds of shenanigans. Personally, I think it needs a slight buff in terms of firepower because as it is, it's a very juice easy target.

The carrack will be dramatically better at traveling around than most ships unless you have a hull C or whatever dedicated to long distances wich is dramaticaly less useful and practical to exploration.

The Carrack's early concept images is what got me into Star Citizen. My first let-down was the design turning into some sort of orca looking thing then the ship outright being unusable . . . I too will have to say goodbye. Its in need of a serious redesign, I'm positive no one will complain.

Of course its inadequate to the Polaris, that's a warship, the Carrack is a pathfinder. Two totally different beasts. I wanted the Galaxy anyways, at least its bridge isn't up front.

I think what many have commented and what this fellow spaceman failed to realize is that the carrack is missing many of its components and core gameplay aspects as an exploration ship. Once exploration and data gathering for discovering new planets and systems comes into play and being able to sell said data for profits. It will be viable once again. For now, it’s a good daily driver, a show off ship and even a decent hauler

The Carrack is the same as it ever was. An exploration ship with the ability to respawn made for a small group of friends. It still has modularity, drones, and exploration on the horizon. Losing the uniqueness of respawning was always going to happen once other ships with T2 and T1 beds came out of concept.

Don't count the Carrack out just yet. I got it. It has some problems at the moment but once modules come along and it gets a gold pass, it will shine again!

She was my first real buy into the game. The Shores of Tripoli was my pride and joy. Now I have melted it for a Galaxy. So long old gal.

So this just reads as 'I gave the devs all this money for a ship they never botheredto finish'. I'd be bringing up some very different words than just waxing nostalgic

As a military explorer, it always felt undergunned and overpriced. I've got one, I stilll think its a cool ship, but the 'modular cargo containers' and anemic armament just don't fit with a long-range military expedition / exploration ship. It needs to grow slightly , it needs heavier armament and it needs more cargo. Heck, I've always thought expedition ships and large mobile bases like the Kraken should have point defense and surface to air specific armament to help fortify its position when planetside - something to actually make it deserving of the role as the premier military exploration/expedition vessel.

Are we going to get a loaner for the Carrack in 3.23.2 since using it for cargo will be impossible given the pods have no side doors or lifts/elevators for manual cargo loading and unloading - and the lift/elevator from pod floor to balcony becomes inaccessible when parts of the pod have cargo?

I still love my carrack, and I'm still going to keep mine. After 3.23 it will need a update though.

I'm still have hope for the upgrades to be installed. I hate there are no pilot controlled weapons, all these other big ships have them. Still love the Carrack though.

I liked the more slender look of the concept pics. But nevertheless it´s a fine ship. Maybe one day there will be a rework... Anyone had a glimpse of the Pyro Tech Demo? I guess the Carrack will be very useful in hostile environments and with it´s retractable Cockpit Armor (Keyword: Sunflares) could go where no ship has gone before...

It's really simple folks, if you wanna see the game finished just stop playing, stop buying ships, stop even updating the launcher. CIG has the resources to finish the game, they have for years. But why would they? You keep throwing money at them; they are gonna keep the pipe-dream alive. Chris Roberts doesn't want publishers involved because he doesn't want to be on a budget or a time constraint. He wants you to sink all your hard earned money into his pipe-dream with no promise or guarantee any of it will ever come to fruition. JUST STOP!!! in 2-3 years they will announce it all working and ready for launch. MARK MY WORDS!

10 years ago it cried freedom, now it's looking ready to melt. Maybe in another 10 it will live up to the needed promise of 100 systems. 400i and some change is looking a better deal for the brief.

Brilliant satire DL! but this could soon become reality, as CIG now introducing Sunsetting ships, all though they state, that sunseted ships will still be supported, i have issues when it comes to trusting CIG, especially now when marketing and greed is running the show. They could so easily make the freaking cargo doors open, to allow cargo gameplay. I made a mistake myself buying a concept ship.....the Zeus CL, and I am afraid of what the outcome and release will be like. Keep them coming DL! Cheers!
