Rest In Peace Ric Ocasek. Thank you for the music and the magic. We've compiled our favorite Cars and Ric videos and tunes. Watch them all here bit.ly/2ke4XcC
My dad is 54 and he is stuck in the 80's. He keeps telling me how great it was and how music and the world was so much fun/better then and how people are too sensitive nowadays. We always make fun of him for being too old school but to be honest, he might be right.
I am 54 , your dad is a wise man and knows his stuff. Videos really came into their own in the 80S, there was Live Aid and was a remarkable decade for music.
This came out the summer before senior year. My girlfriend and I used to hang out in her parents' living room with MTV playing for hours. This was one of our favorite songs. I would sing it to her while we danced slowly. We went our separate ways once school started but remained friends throughout the years and miles. She passed away in 2021. What a huge loss. She really was human sunshine. I'm sure glad we had the summer of 84. It was easily one of the best times of my life. Rest easy, Angelica. You were magic to anyone who knew you.
The ozempic tune is coming from this song. The heirs better get royalties from this pharmaceutical company, if not, heirs needs to sue. Rip Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr. Extremely blessed to have been a teenager in the 80s. BEST DECADES EVER 1970S & 1980S
"The Cars" have been my favorite American Rock Band. When they disbanded, I continued to listen to them..I am 49 years old now and still consider them one of the best!!!
I guess one is going to hit you if you don't react the first time. I kind of took Money's passing with no problem, but this was the weird one, this was the teen ager again song. Money's was just smooth existence, but this is the pitstop in my youth and wondering what was going on.
I felt the world quit spinning for a split second when I heard of his passing! This band truly changed my thoughts of music he was so creative in his videos and his stage presence was dreamy in all aspects of the word.
I'm about to turn 50 in 2022 and I'm still stuck in the mindframe of the 80s. The 80s with heavy metal and good ol rock n roll was awesome. The people were real personality-wise, and it was just freakin' the time of our lives.
@@mikixP You don't know me asshole! I was watching the Cars videos as a kid back in 1984. How about honoring and celebrating a great music man instead of judging who or who isn't a real fan jackass!
Brady Blackburn i know buddy, we've lost many of the Greats, Eddie,Ric,Tom Petty....this is my 80s tween yrs duringthe MTV era... The Cars and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers had THE BEST Videos,in my opinion
James Reading good luck the hall of fame is a sad joke they don't listen to the music fans just the up tight suites and tie wearing non music lovers :-(
It was announced this morning that The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, Bon Jovi, the late Nina Simone and the late "Sister" Rosetta Tharpe have been inducted into 2018 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
Got to Totally Agree!! Singers Like Ric ocasek, Huey Lewis, And Tom Petty were the True Revolutionary’s Behind This Real and Wonderful Music. 40 years later and i still Smile from Ear to Ear Enjoying these Bands Like it Were Yesterday
since the announcement of his sudden death, i have listened to this song over and over again. thank you for everything, ric. may his soul rest in peace.
This is my first band i ever heard of from my friends. Loved them since. The Eagles are another insane band. Heard both bands when i was 7 to 10 years old and fell in love with them. 53 now and still crazy bout the 80s!
There is magic in your eyes and good vibrations in your ears too. It is hard to believe that this song is 40 years old. Rock' N' Roll and pop live on forever. It never fades away just like Disco music did in 1980.
RIP Ric. I can't believe the 1980's are dying. Michael Jackson, Prince, George Michael, Tom Petty, Eddie Money, Benjamin Orr & Ric Ocasek....all gone. Sad.
Mark Hollis from Talk Talk was also a big blow to me. "It's My Life" and "Life's What You Make It" are classics. Heart breaks every time a songwriter of deep personal renown leaves us.
Summer, it turns me upside down.. Summer, summer summer.. It's like a merry-go round. It's always summer where I live. Peace, Love and Aloha from Waikiki..
The 80’s god I miss it! I remember getting my first kiss to this song from my high school sweetheart. Still together many years later I’m so blessed for that man of mine. It’s like magic each time we kiss. Love y’all and bless everyone ❤️👼.
I remember listening to this while sick in bed hours before the super bowl this year. We're in the 2020's, yet somehow I can relive the 80's in my mind! Crazy how nostalgia works 🙏🏻
I had this cassette "Heartbeat city" in 86 and wore it out. God we were so fortunate to be teenagers in the mid 80's. Will never be another decade like it.
80s was fun, stadium concerts, drive in movies, i had buffalo bills season tickets right through 4 superbowl loses, it is true bills fans are crazy. I will say this bills fans are loyal, 17 years no playoffs @ still sellout every game
I absolutely agree...I was 16 years old when I saw the Cars at Pine Knob here in Michigan in the summer of 84...was the perfect mix of innocence and mellow reflection...the perfect time to be a teenager
+Chris Greulich Its a little word called " Envy " ...usually get that from punks that didn't grow up during that time or generations after the 80s (90s & 00s).
RIP the two members of The Cars Ric Ocasek (March 23, 1944 - September 15, 2019), aged 75 Benjamin Orr (September 8, 1947 - October 3, 2000), aged 53 You both will be remembered as legends.
@@marycarroll9915 it figures, something that Ric Ocasek would do. It was said that Ric had an underlying envy for Benjamin Orr’s good looks and natural Rock Star presence on stage. I wonder if Ric was bullied as a child for being nerd like. Seems like a narcissist to an empath relationship.
