Man. I feel like Greg doesn't get enough credit for how good he is. The way he and Elliott played off each other during that jam session was unbelievable. Best part. Elliott is fantastic. You can see the harmony they still had even then.
It is too bad that Ocasik ended the band after the 1987 tour. Especially when they never got to play with Orr again before he died. Elliot Easton is shredding...….what a shame.
Greg y Elliot en sintonía, se nota la falta de Ben. Rick en otro mundo no canta ni toca igual era una estatua cantando,Elliot salvó el dia con sus solos de guitarra, es genial. David no pierde su ritmo grande de la batería. Amo a the cars.
Anyone who really cares about The Cars will find out easily that Ric did end the band therefore destroying 4 other people's careers. But he didn't care because he knew he'd be doing fine with his own management and publishing company for years and years. Please start searching websites, radio interviews, online interviews and rock magazines. You will find out a lot about what happened in 1987. The best mag to check out is Goldmine August 1997. It's a very long article 8 or 10 pages interviewing every member of the band. I can't list everything here but you will be shocked at what some of the comments were. Also Paulina is on RU-vid with some great interviews about how her husband was selfish and overbearing. Incredibly she said that he married her mostly for her beauty and in the year's after when it started to fade he started treating her "like pieces of furniture not really communicating." That's why she filed for divorce 2 years before he died and then as many know he cut her out of his Will after she had put all her millions from modeling into the marriage there was no prenup. Poor Ben he loved touring and playing live that was his life and it was just ended by Ric not wanting to tour any more. But Ric made more money than the others because of his song writing publishing revenue. The only way for the other guys to make any real money was by touring so that was very selfish. As you'll read in the Goldmine magazine article things were not going well for the last tour. They knew the D2D album was not good .Ric had taken over the whole thing and production of the album without consulting the other band members. Ben is quoted as saying that they always collaborated on every other album. They were not happy at all. Ric canceled many tour dates really making it worse. I wish they had just taken a breather or even discussed maybe quitting but not immediately as it was quite a shock to all of the band members. The other band members are quoted as saying that even though there were problems and they were angry with each other they never thought that it would be the end of the band. Some people say that by 1987 the music had changed and that's why The Cars were not popular anymore instead of saying the truth at the last album was not good. But I don't believe that because they had just come off a triple platinum Heartbeat City and their appearance at Live Aid . There is no way they would have dropped to where nobody liked them that fast!
