I was in Switzerland about 2 years ago and found the nice little shop where the owner did carvings and other "craft" work for sale and he had pfeil carving chisels for sale ... Unfortunately i only had hand luggage with me and if i bought anything i would have been stopped at the airport .. would have been a nice souvenir!!!

Are those "Two cherries" same as in Kirschen? Logo looks the same. I have one bent gouge and one straight gouge chisels from Kirschen, about ~25euros each but dang they are amazing. Edit: I've used them ALOT and no need to sharpen them (yet), I just strop them for a bit per ~20-30min working

Schaaf is the brand I like. Once you get them sharp,they'll stay sharp. The kit sells about 119.00. I use all but three usally.

So, which V tool do you recommend? There’s a bunch of sizes and sweeps from 1 to 12 mm and #12 to #17.

Been using Schaff for years great set of chisels for a much lower price. Rarely need to sharpen them

I'm more interested in the tool roll. I have what I have but trying to store them somewhat compactly and relatively safely is an issue for me.

I have been able to amass a nice chisel collection over the years. I have right at about 100 pfeil and a mixture of 2 Cherries and Sheffield. Totaling around 200 chisels. I probably use 5-10 on a regular basis. I was lucky enough toget the majority of the pfeil (60ish) from an older gentleman who was retiring from the hoby. I got the set plus a Tormek sharpening machine and a bunch of wood for 800€.

I have a Schaaf chisel kit my grandfather gifted me and they are awesome along with my Wickersteels. I probably will now treat myself to some two cherries framing chisels cause pfiel as much as I would love to have those I dont wanna spend my entire paycheck on them lol.

So buying single carving chisels as you need them is the way forward. Let's show the companies the V-chisel sign, and say "skew you guys" to build up sets of carving chisels we'll actually use. ;-)

ive just started using carving tools with some linoleum and i’ve already sliced open my thumb.. those things are no joke 😅 i wish i had that many, i only have 4 and its hard to get the detail i want such limited sizes!

In text, if someone is using all capital letters that means they are very angry and screaming at you. It is usually only used by a karen who is screaming at someone to get their way. That is why I was extremely confused by the question. I had a hard time reading it as I felt that I was having to defend myself from an attack.

I learned about YELLING IN ALL CAPS back in the day when I was still paying to use CompuServe on dial up. I was one of those who typed poorly and used all caps.

I've been to the Pfeil factory! It's a 10 minute drive from my mum's house. It's not pronounced 'Feil', the 'P' isn't silent. Say it as you're saying it now, but add the 'P' at the beginning and it'll be correct.

Harbor freight does not sell carving chisels.. they have a set that their list is carving chisels but they're actually scrapers..

@@WoodByWrightHowToI have a HB set that looks and works like carving chisels. They sharpen nicely and if you strop often, stay sharp. Even though I was gifted a Schaaf set, I still find the HF set useful sometimes.
