Opiates taken in increasing doses over a long period of time can distort the addict’s perception of reality. The addict goes along, making (what he thinks are) brilliant life decisions that inevitably end up making his and others’ lives miserable! In his mind he probably thought, “I can get out of this jam and make $$$ on top of it!” He’s been brought back to the grim reality of what he’s done…and as he sobers up he probably can’t believe that he actually made chose to do that!

Jarrod Newman: some opiate addicts act that way, but many don't. It's possible to take large doses & be fully functional where friends/fam cant notice a difference. Especially if you use everyday or 24/7. Then noone has a baseline for your personally. It depends on the person & the pill but some people don't get all dopey like heroin makes you. Some people get large bursts of energy, talk a lot, seem to suddenly be able to get lots done. While some like this can take larger doses and get slow & sleepy. So while you may have had experiences with addicts you need to expand your knowledge on opiate usage if you're going to go on shows & speak like you have all the facts. Addicts can be in horrible shape but as long as they have all the pills they could want & more importantly all the pills their body needs to stay "normal" they can hide it like you wouldn't belive.

At least the ones I've talked too. They always say what you need to hear at the time and if it doesn't work out they have the same answer used on every single client that paid thousands only to find that the lawyer really didn't do anything for you. They will always tell you that they can not promise an outcome and that sometimes it just doesn't work out. But all along they have been billing you and telling you it's a slam dunk. That the law is clear and they can't see the result being anything but a win.

I hate my own position in life but I'd still trade my life for theirs, despite the addiction. Many addicts have a will to survive and presevere an ongoing life BURIED with the 24/7 multifaceted tightrope, "any day the other shoe is gonna ongoing use, that is SO strong... also people need to start understanding that JUST LIKE with racial or cultural or economic stereotypes and bias, addicts vary just like anyone else. To add on to that, many people who are addicts have a learned strength and perseverance that comes along as a result of the struggle. Therefore, typical day to day challenges of mentally "well" people are easier to overcome by people like addicts, recovering addicts.. anyone else who struggles and fights.. they have a resolve built on the pain and then overcoming of the issues as a result of the former.

I immediately thought the murders were in retaliation for Mallory's death from the boat crash; totally shocked when he was arrested. I do think he was responsible for the housekeeper's fall & his son(s) were involved in the young man's death...it's all just crazy 😳

As many others have pointed out, that guest lawyer expressed his profound ignorance of opioid addiction. He's too dim to know what he doesn't know. Makes you wonder what else he's "certain" about . . . and, most certainly wrong.

i can tell by the DAs description of those on Opiods who appear in court, that once again law enforcement is citing Herion users in with the whole lot. Stupor? I think not from experience. and can we please make the distinction between oxyconTIN ond oxycoDONE. there is a huge difference. maybe i'm the exeption to the rule but after 15 + yrs of oxycodone use i have had no - none physical OR mental dependance. i will say thay after all that time it just simply quit working.

He must have had some heavy duty life insurance policy on both wife and son. That doesn't do a thing to mitigate his reprehensible crimes. Drugs destroy families. It can happen to anyone who dares to "chase a dragon. The dragon chases back and when he gets you, he not only gets you, he gets the entire family.
