Yes I was very upset about changing CC ,that’s part of what made her exceptional, and once in a generational player she’s exciting to watch it. Keeps you on the edge of your seat.
In her 25th year of coaching (she started in 2000), Christie Sides has bounced around from team to team. This is her TENTH team. So, she lasted on average of 2-1/2 years on one team before changing to another team. This is not a good record, it's a RED FLAG!
Sides is a poor coach. She has been outed. CC has helped bring it all to light. The sooner she is fired the better. However the GM and the owner of the Fever are not too bright either. If they were they would never have hired an incompetent like Sides.
Sides is a Prime Example, showing the difference between "20 years of Experience", and "The Same Year Repeated 20 Times". Sides is the Latter. It's difficult to do a job for 20 or however many years you pick, and Learn Absolutely Nothing But Bad habits from all those years. That Type Of Sheer and Blatant incompetence, Takes Hard Work
Sides still needs to be fired. Sides has Clark bring ball down past half court line. Pass ball the one to of the three (Wheeler. Mitchell, Boston or Smith) and they run last year's offense between them, and Cailtin gets to watch one of them throw up some sort of shot. This is all Sides. And remember Boston smiled to Carter, Kelsey Laughed with Carter and Sides said she didn't see anything when Carter blindsided Caitlin.

Her incompetency has been on full display every game. The team is a hot mess and almost every personnel decision makes things worse. And 13 games into the season and no one but Samuelson seems to know how to set a screen? Now to top it all off, you simply do not give up and bench your 4 of your 5 starting squad for the rest of the game 3 minutes into the 3rd quarter. The message you send to your players is "I give up!". And then you publicly berate your players for lack of effort? It's not hard to see that she has lost this team. Make no mistake, the Fever are a bad team, but Sides coaching is making a bad team even worse. Unfortunately, Linn Dunn is supporting her on social media as also a work in progress. Keep in mind that Linn Dunn is the one who decided, from coaches to players, this was the personnel she would put on the floor with Caitlin Clark. Her ass is on the line too. My guess is that the Fever franchise will make no meaningful changes until revenue projections begin to significantly fail. At that time you may see a wholesale house cleaning. Until then it's going to continue to be painful thing to watch.
When you are a Coach you have to take some responsibility .Clark is a fast Player other players can't Keep up they are slow . She should swap out some ball Hogs .
She is definitely da problem. The offense is the problem she doesn’t understand her personal that she pick 🧐 I would like to see the players that she cut. I don’t think the team is that bad she has them playing in the wrong position. Again, way too many ball and slip screen no reason for Boston to come out past the free-throw line 15 feet and the last time I checked, CC does not need a ball or a slip screen to get a shot off. If they throw the ball down to Boston on the low block, it will open everybody else up and slow the game down too many jumpshot by people who should not be shooting jumpshot leading to fast break layups it’s not rocket science people
Yes, well said. And, with what you say, this team should, by now, have a functioning inside-the-paint offense with Clark driving, seeing, passing, shooting, PLUS Boston, Smith, & Fagbenle using their high skills (which each of them has). This could be exceptional. But Sides is incompetent to visualize & coach it.
Sides needs to go asap! 13 wins last season and this season they aren't even on par to win that many games! They also need to sign a couple quality players to maximize the talent of Clark, to set better screens so she can at least get an open look at the basket! What they are doing now isn't working at all and Sides has no idea how to coach!
When he was at Kentucky, Rick Pitino would get angry with his players if they took a long two and would always tell them to take a step back and go for the 3 instead. For some odd reason, Christy Sides thinks otherwise. Okay. But between the two, who is the better coach?
Fever Was a terrible place for Clark. The coach makes one mistake after another doesn’t take enough accountability. GM is fine with sides inexperience as a head coach and the players on the fever are not clicking together. Low effort low excitement a lot of losing and dare I say selfishness. I’m to the point where I would have cleared house started from scratch already. Find players that are happy to fight for each other or trade Clark to a team that has leadership and a good culture or overall family feel.
Problem is they gotta 2-3 younger players on the bench who might do that. Sides don't play them. Might be why they caught up a little in garbage time, she finally played the supporting cast she should be playing. Expect her to go back to the vets, though.

@@ChicksDigScarsPodcast Because Dunn just likes her. Just like Wheeler & Wallace are on the team b/c they played with Sides at Atlanta & so they are Sides favorite players. Sides even talked Dunn into paying Wheeler the highest salary of any player in the league at the time (Wheeler is currently the 7th highest paid player). Both Sides & Dunn need to go. I think these players could be pretty good if they had a good coach & GM that would add a few key pieces to help them. They need to use some of the millions CC is making them in ticket & jersey sales to pay for a good coach & GM.
I think Sides has done a terrible job. The problem is, can you find someone of quality to take her place. The Wnba coach's pay can't be much. The wnba is a mess. Poor quality players not near as good as they think they are. Horrible officiating, just horrible. The next to worse team in the league. Players that don't match in their playing styles. A team screwed up by the coach. Not real appealing situation for a new coach of quality.

I've sent several emails to Linn Dunn and one to the ownership of the Pacers and Fever. I wasn't surprised that I didn't get a response, but I'm not sure anybody at the team administrative level is listening to any of us fans! SIDES MUST GO! Now. I'm almost ready to go back to ignoring the WNBA, but I'm also sick of the media trying to constantly create some sort of rivalry or controversy that does not exist. Clark didn't make the Olympic Team and was okay with it, but it's the media that keeps throwing fuel on the flames! Media, please stop this. It's doing nothing but creating more problems for Clark who is trying to remain professional.

My mind is boggled because they knew they were getting CC on the team for a while now but it seems like they were not prepared for her at all. There is no leader on this team and since they did want to take CC as the nr 1 pick I imagine they wanted to build the team around her…. But like?!
again, the recent loss to the Sun was not her fault...the Sun were on a revenge game after suffering their first loss and they were determined to score a hundred points and not lose another game, period. Sides has been around the game all her life, could see this and wisely yanked her starters to rest for Thursday's game against the Atlanta Dream...for a possible win. And she got to see what the bench could do: i have yet to see five Fever bench players play for a whole quarter to show the coach what talents she has to work with...and she learned she has a pretty good bench, didn't she? and her starters are rested for tomorrow's game, aren't they? 'nuff said...
The loss to the Sun was expected, but by her own public statements she benched all but Boston because of "lack of effort" that she could not coach, not because she was resting them for the next game. Sorry, but the message here is "I give up"...and that is a message only a lousy coach would convey.

This is All on Purpose, not incompetence. A real coach would Address the officiating! Next cut Wheeler. Trade Mitchell, Caitlin would have a better chance of seeing a corpse in a morgue move than getting the ball back once she has passed it to Mitchell. Put Hull and Taylor in to defend somebody, no more uncontested shots. When Fagbenle is back have her and Smith in with Caitlin your point guard. Now actually run plays, screens and picks to let Caitlin shoot or pass. Boston can sub to give bigs a break. The rest use to sub as needed. Overall though you have to have the players playing as a team understanding schemes and roles. Caitlin is the Star run as much of the plays thru her. The other players will get their shots by effectively carrying out a game plan.
I wish but I don't think they can. Boston is a very slow, plodding, half-court player. Caitlin is most effective in pushing the pace and getting out in the open court in transition, both for her own shot and for getting teammates open layups. Boston is incapable of being a running the floor big.
Lynn's only choice is to support Sides. Who will take over in the middle of the season? The assistants are worthless. They don't have any time to start over and put in a new scheme. Keep Sides happy until the end of the season, then make a decision. It's the only real choice.
I disagree respectfully. This season is unique, Olympics shuts down league for about a month. That month is more than enough for a new competent coach to get team ready.
@@awruble9047 Agree. They only get 2 wks to practice before the season starts so the Olympic break will be longer than they have at the beginning of the year. And use all that money CC is bringing in ticket & jersey sales & actually pay for a decent coach. But I think Dunn & Sides need to go. Dunn has made some very questionable decision too
I respectfully disagree. Rot worsens. Better to get rid of the rot now. By changing to a competent coach, they could start installing an offense, which would already byemore than Sides knows how to do. Plus the Olympic break time would help a new coach and players to really practice.
Why don't the WNBA try to get some of these retired NBA players as coaches. Hell, they'd probably do it for kick and giggles not to mention the hype of the game. Can you see Larry Bird, or Charles Barkley as a coach in the NBA. Talk about filling the arenas. Ha Ha !
She is obviously a terrible coach.,Watching the game you can see she is lost and confused the way she moves 6-8 feet back and forth in a crouched position. They are on the way to 10-30, maybe 13-27 at best. With new coach maybe they can log 15-25, perhaps 17-23. But they have awful players. Bad team. The smart move fire her at Olympic break. It will give the new coach 3-4 weeks to figure what she-he has and what kind of offensive and defensive changes to make.
Lack of experience isn’t her issue it’s her basic leadership skills -don’t discipline your team in public and take accountability. as she wants ever said that she could’ve done a better job coach glitter from Iowa would’ve said it she would definitely have more intelligence to throw her under the bus
I don't think coach sides is the problem. I think it's ppl control how she coaches. The one game she had CC as a shooting guard. Then they put her back to running the point. That's not going to work, she doesn't have true ball handle skills for a point. That's why she's getting picked so much. CC, does not play good defense and she gives up when they are down.
SIDES is in it to make CAITLIN fail in the WNBA. Anybody that knows basketball can see who amongst her teammates can play the kind of game that she is used to and can be Unstoppable! And it"s not Aaliyah Boston who is the slowest center and cannot shoot, nor Mitchell nor Wheeler who only knows to Drive everytime they get the ball!
Sides is incompetent, with attitude and takes no responsibility for the way her team plays. Her offense is the same offense she ran last year which put them near the bottom of the table. Why did they even draft CC? They (Sides) have no idea how to use her. She needs to be fired. Immediately.
The picks that most of Clark's teammates set aren't solid picks at all. They don't make contact with Clark's defenders, roll early, or fake a pick and don't set one at all causing a 2nd defender to double Clark. It's an abysmal offense. 😂
Sides has no strategy, her plays are JV 1/2 the time, no creativity or even duplication of what has worked in some of their games. Bad match ups. Mitchell & Wheeler are selfish! Mitchell is undisciplined! Wheeler & Mitchell can’t convert. Sides never takes responsibility/ accountability! Sides will not let Clark do her thing she actually coaches against it! Sides has no idea how to coach Clark! It’s horrible!
Bingo. Sides has not installed a pro-style offense. We are seeing individual plays like in high school, plus some attempts at pick and roll. But nothing using the high talents of Boston-Smith-Fagbenle for a powerful offense in the paint with the masterful Clark driving and dishing to them. Nothing. Zero.
It is seldom a positive thing to fire the coach 1/3 of the way through a season. A newer coach may look bad the first year or two, but we don't know when she will get a period of rapid improvement. Hopefully she will develop a rotation of players that is consistent and each player will understand their role and the coach will maximize their individual assets. Work toward normality rather than increase the chaos would be my adivice.

Sides’ coaching ability is horrible. For example, In the Chicago game, why was the defensive specialist (CELESTE TAYLOR) they just drafted sitting on the bench the entire game!?! Why did they draft her? She can’t do any worst than Hull and damn sure would play better defense on Carter then Mitchell smh Celeste may even rise to the occasion and surprise everyone. I agree with everything you said about Christy Sides. I am watching the WNBA ONLY because of Caitlin. I am not a super fan of Caitlin's though. I am mostly curious about how she will do in the WNBA league. She annoys me a lot. I spend a ton of time yelling at the TV during her games. I see some of the same things going on with Caitlin that I saw during her college games. Her defense sucks. She turns her back on the ball. She doesn't get her hands up. She has no intuition about playing defense. Frankly, I see her as being lazy and a little entitled on defense. Granted Christy sucks and Caitlin's team does not support her but DANG help yourself out and learn to play defense. Caitlin is usually the first one to hurry back to defend the court after a shot but why? She does not defend anyone. She comes up with a rebound once in a while if she is in the right spot at the right time but for goodness sake, follow your shot! That being said, if Christie is trying to help Caitlin with this stuff I can see why she would be frustrated too. I think The Fever needs a different coach but Caitlin needs to listen too. At this point, without a coaching change, who is Caitlin going to trust? It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.
No defender has had to change course yet to either go under or go over a screen. They (Indiana) intentionally move out of the way to allow the defender a path to the ball. Who taught them to set a pick like that? You can watch Steph Curry run patterns all day long, or watch Chris Jackson (Mahmoud Abdul Rauf) curl around screens to get off a shot. If the screen avoids contact with the defender, no shot!
Sides doesn't take responsibility for the team play and is quick to point fingers at the players. Most coaches during an interview after a loss talks about how the coaching staff needs to do better preparing the team. Sides has no court awareness on challenges or protecting players. Sides is close to losing the locker room. Not using CC to her full abilities is a disgrace in coaching.
Ok, gonna start with a simple math lesson than tie everything I say together. This is an aSide(s), see what I did there, 🤣, anyway, CC’s turnovers. Some are on her some on her teammates not cutting, setting proper screens as you alluded to, no cutters, stagnant movement in general. Ok. Here is the thing. CC is a quick pace, quick bucket passer looking to score on said passes, not just swing the ball around uselessly. Here is where the math comes in, Iowa, all I have to make this point. We will use Michigan. Takes 20 seconds say on average to get it over half court set up, move the ball around, take a shot. Rebound or even out of bounds, after a basket, CC gets the ball immediately starts running, Lakers showtime style, zips the ball to rim running Hannah Stuelke, layup, total time elapsed, six seconds. Obviously doesn’t go down this way every time, but every opportunity and this is why it is so important beyond the easy buckets concept. IOWA GETS MORE POSSESSIONS THAN THEIR OPPONENT. Why does any one think they were the highest scoring team in the country? So, missed shots, AND bad turnovers get absorbed into the increased number of shots Iowa got, giving CC time and space to probe for passes, and take heat checks. This year, with all of the TOV’s she still has a decent assist to turnover ratio, and YES she needs to improve so don’t get it twisted just understand it better. Ok b4 we get to the MOST idiotic comments I have probably heard by a coach but no worries because as alluded to here, she continues to confirm her low functioning mind. This was in the beginning, pre-season game, first one. She said, as a broadcast, free scouting report to the entire league, that CC was so winded in the first quarter, that Sides said she felt like she almost needed help her to the bench. A comment like that, said by an experienced coach in jest no biggie, but oh no, serious business here, straight face. Then the .5 seconds to make a decision, meaning swing the ball quickly, as a generational playmaker, don’t probe, or dribble and probe, or decide to keep it and create a play, or launch one from 🚀, no, no, split second, swing it, then 3 games later after the scouting report everyone is sitting on those passes looking to steal one, good grief. And dead tie for THE stupidest thing I have ever heard, is the long two comment. A smart coach would’ve stood up immediately, waved to the reporters, left, and handed in their resignation in utter embarrassment. 🤣 Then the Monster forwarding comment to everyone in the world. Now I see how these things work now we are going out of are way to blame the coach you guys say that you have this great white hope the best players ever why can't she get it done don't know this for sure but can it have something to do with all of the turnovers that Caitlin Clark is making game after game . This team has had 2 1st overall picks in the Last 2 years… The best Coach in the League isn’t fixing this Team… The Supporting cast isn’t there… There is no chemistry between the two first round draft picks… They play different games… Firing a coach is Short sided… This Team is years away from being a Contender…
A good head coach can create chemistry by having an evaluation plan and rotating lineups until something clicks. If nothing clicks, they need to have a plan to trade or cut players that don’t or won’t mesh. Good head coaches also design an offense that gives their shooters looks from the spots they are most effective. Is Sides doing any of this? Could be she doesn’t know how.

The Vegas Coach has that Team playing .500 Basketball 🏀 As far as the Fever, The Team isn’t good enough… The GM and Coaches are at Fault for sure… So what happens now? New Coach, New System and Weeks to come together… Make some Trades? Expanding the league next year plus a new TV might help bring in some better talent…

All the problems with the team go back to the coach. They have 2 #1 draft picks & 2 #2 draft picks. 3 of those they have gotten in the past 3 yrs. There is actually some good talent on the team, but I think Sides is just constantly screwing them over & demoralizing them. If the whole team sucks, its the coach, not the players. They also need to get rid of Dunn. She has made bad decisions too, like making Wheeler the highest paid player in the league at the time.
