Looking back in time... Cat5 was fun just riding around. Now cat5 is people with A/B fitness and no handles. Wild
@8584zender
@8584zender 7 месяцев назад
Right? Cat5 used to be "I ride quite a bit and want to see if I like racing" Now Cat5 is "I've been on TrainerRoad for 6 years, got my FTP to 4.5W/kg, bought my $15K rig plus separate race wheels, second trainer to use just for warming up before the start, joined a team, got a couple of skinsuits and want to lap the field." 😁
@Unwavering137
@Unwavering137 7 месяцев назад
@@8584zenderI assume you saw Chris Horner's video today about the fact that no one needs a $15K skinsuit, aero socks, and a $15K bike to be fast i.e, it's fitness and training that makes you fast, not zoot suits and fancy toys that may give you only incrementally small differences.

Cool course! Killer sprint, especially from the hoods! Classic CAT5.

If Matt can climb as well as the rest of the field and outsprint them too, it was really his race too lose, there was only so much the competition could have done.

Ya 1600 watts means he is a big huge time sandbagger n the officials should make him move up for years but u seem to think this is a good thing nooooo it kills cycling he just sits in n sandbags shame on this video n you showing it 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

@colokurt1 7 месяцев назад
Check is road-results. He just started 2 seasons ago and has since upgraded. He started racing Cat 3/4 and Cat 3 two races after that Brinkerhoff race. He's not sandbagging.

Dude has quads for days, no wonder he can lay down the power. Sheesh. Big muscles + endurance are a beautiful thing. Thats definitely a "gotta know your competition" race when you got a guy capable of that kind of push.

We call the sport killers he is a huge sandbagger that should have been forced to move up to 4 or 3 but this is the new thing to do but one day license n race big races like we don't know who they are
@mmfong297

Dang that dude belongs in an indoor track..good stamina for his physique. I have done races with these former body building dudes.. what we usually do is attack on the climbs to get rid of them so they don't stand a chance on a final sprint

A little quad envy going on there Jeff? I wish I had legs like that though.
@xVertOx
@xVertOx 7 месяцев назад
I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff could still outsprint this dude. With big legs often comes big weight, therefore w/kg can stay the same compared to smaller dudes.
@Joshua-dx7zn

Thing about sprinters is they can maintain that high power (8 to 900w's) for a long time after the initial spike. Wish I could!

@obikedog
@obikedog 7 месяцев назад
So 19W/kg means more to me - but yeah - that's crazy [scary!] power - especially in a cat 5 racer who might not have skills to match! Also, definitely agree on general principle, using the wind would have been smart for CBR. However, in a cat4/5, I would not expect a level of preparation (or bandwidth!) outside just racing their bikes where participants can identify riders; their strengths and weaknesses.
