You remind me of my sweet old Grandaddy before he passed away 30 years ago. We children would gather round and listen to his stories even if we had heard them several times before. We all miss him so much. Thank you for bringing back those sweet memories of working in the garden, Maw-maw canning summer vegetables, dinner on the ground at church , whipperwhills in summertime and the Bob white call that I haven't had the privilege to hear in years !!! Bless you !!! ❤️
I sure appreciate you keeping the tales going and you telling them your own way. I’m a few ridges away over here in Erwin, we gotta keep our heritage alive.
That was so awesome really made my day...reminds me when i was homeless how people made fun of me now that im doing good in life the same people resent me now... :)
I grew up in Los Angeles, but the last 8 years have been living in Kentucky and West Virginia. I have fallen in love with the Appalachians and its culture.
@@orvillehicksstoryteller4159 Thank you for that. There aren’t many old-timers like that lift anymore that share their stories like that. I look forward to watching them.

Ah humm I'm caught by surprise to have come across the story teller and appreciative that I did. You see , I was raised by my grandmother in old catholic school/church way 🙏 (I Yai Yai♡ tee-hee ) I like the parable connection . It was pleasant and refreshing to have it been one of the 1st things I clicked on as I woke up today. Thank you Ms.Crow! Now, the storyteller, how genuine & natural can it get I ask 4 real? Thank you Sir! Because I was raised by granny and the old school way, many many of time I remember on hot summer nights she would wash off her little front porch off with some bleach cause of mosquitos 🦟 abd whatever else creepy crawlers because her sister lived across the street and would come over while her husband gone for the night shift to work, and it was then where I would hear great stories. With my true grit granny Inez and my great aunt Annie, on a cool fresh porch, soda-pop and a snack. Not fair tho Orville made me cry. But I thank you from the bottom of my heart 🥲
I liked the story, but I have to admit I spent the whole time expecting a punch line at the end. Would have enjoyed it more if I had known there wasn't one coming.
A lost art and I for one am glad that electronic media has saved some room for old stories like these with big morals. Thank you Orville and son. Blessings to all under your sky from a fan in Montana.
