My dad always said "The cat came back, the cat came back, thought he was a goner but the cat came back". He told me it was a song & I should look it up. He passed away Sunday. Today I listen with a smile and a tear. Thanks for posting. ❤
Wow....this takes me back to 1944-45 when I was still in Grade School....Lee Moore & Juanita and little Roger made a personal appearance at Clearbrook (Stonewall) High School near Winchester, VA. Lee Moore was on WSVA Harrisonburg as daily program... I love this song. Thanks for the memories.... Tom Ashton
Ooo thanx mucho, my daddy used to sit me on a kitchen chair & use the fiddle or guitar and would sing to me for hours...this was one of his favorites.. I was his best audience :) ty for the memories...

TV's only went to like channel 14 around that time. lol. long time back... lol. you were a star that burned out to soon. I'll join you before not to long. peace.
During the early 1950s I used to listen to Lee Moore and Juanita on, I believe, WWVA; the Coffee Drink'in Nighthawk was then, and remains today, a real favorite of long standing. I was real disappointed when the dear lady one evening was not on the program, never returned to the microphone; never knew why. Many thanks to the uploader!
Pranksterism has been known to create dissention and unhappiness; perhaps that as much as anything else led to the divorces? Thank you for the kindness of a response. Much appreciated. Be well.
My broken hearted daughter's cat came back after a week. My husbands cat had been gone for 4 years and came back and died on the 5th day. My 14 year old cat recently passed away so my 💔 is broken.
I just introduced this song to my 50 year old son by another artist.( the song, not my boy!) He responded by sending me this version after I had told him about Lee Morre. I remember hearing it often in my teens while in Selma Ala. with USAF. I can remember at least once hearing Lee start it with "had an ole Thomas cat". I was always uplifted by this song. I thought Lee wrote it. Guess a lot of people wrote it.
Sitting here working on our Watkins Products Business and thinking about this song as I read today's announcement about the Cat Ferry running again this year between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Maine.
I can remember listening to this in '56 on the AM(that's all we had back then)radio on the way to Alaska. It was apparently quite popular...like in run it into the ground popular. Still love it though no matter the artist's rendition.
Hi again Jim, People are enjoying these new clips. Do you have the video of Joyful Noise the following year (I think) where they were outdoors (probably at the Lee Town Park) and they did a good version of Goober Peas? Thanks! Bob
Great! I will look out for them. I see Rob Siegers about once a year, and he plays with them on occasion today. He says they occasionally get back together.
I have a cat that keeps coming back - I love her now but I have to try to reunite her with her owners - but she keeps coming back, not even for food! She seems to like Black Sabbath. But it's not my cat! I must take her to the vets...
