Man, this hits perfectly. I've been feeling the same way about the change in style and sound. It feels like a completely different project. They're actually playing my city this weekend, and based on what I've seen from the setlists in other cities, I don't think I'm gonna go as it's mostly new stuff and a couple of the more popular tunes like The Chariot that I've seen a bunch of times. I can't quite put my finger on what element of the new sound isn't for me, but I think if it's anything it feels more like it's trying to end up on a Disney soundtrack than the jazzy roots with raw Latin flare it used to be. Lo siento cat empire, I still love y'all as people.

Is it ok to write a dislike? Even though I understand bands evolve, this one is reverse one. Just an opinion, maybe I grew up as well and can't find it challenging to listen to this pop version of TCE.

Of course you can. I find this version of TCE equally boring. Unchallenging might be a good way to put it. It's like everything that made TCE musically interesting left with the departing members. All that is left is the cheese, which they pumped up to 11. BOOM BOOM

I really enjoy the new music but I miss Harry James Angus who gave the music the real spark and creativity. Everything is too simple and without much invention.

I hate to sound so negative, but please, do yourselves a favour and rename the band. I've loved the Cat Empire for decades now. I own all of the original albums and love them so dearly. But the new album sounds like a different band. With the new line-up, this is essentially a new project. It sounds like all the current members are fine musicians, and although the new album doesn't grab me in the same way as those of yesteryear, I'm sure your sound will evolve over time with all the new input. I'd be much more interested in following a truly new project. No one wanted Cat Empire to end, least not me. But let's face it, when you lost most of your original lineup, the Cat Empire came to an end. The end of an era. It's time to move on and accept it. No point in flogging a dead horse. I'm sure the fans would be happy to follow any new project led by Felix, or by any of the original members for that matter. Embrace the new lineup and give them the credit they deserve by giving the band its own identity, instead of living in the shadows of what was.

Same here, it's just not the same vibe or energy, different, and that's ok, but I loved the cat empire too and well, just not the same, and I really sorry but i did not really connect with this new sound

Why should the remaining four members, who have been in the band for many years, have to change the name of the band just because others have left? That has never happened, in the history of popular music. You may not like the new material, and that's fair enough, but that's no reason to suggest they should change their name.

Isn't there only 2 remaining members? With some of the stronger song writing elements now gone aka Harry. Who are the other two original members?

@@wolfmanjacksun Kieran and Ross (aka the Empire Horns) have been in the band for over 20 years. So I think we can consider them long standing band members! Maybe not original members, but then neither was Harry (I believe the band was started by Ollie, Felix and Ryan Monro, so two out of three founder members remain).
