The Catcher in the rye, by J. D. Salinger, chapter 19, Narrated by Isaac Birchall
Holden thinks about Luce while sitting in the Wicker Bar in the Seton Hotel. Luce is older than Holden by 3 years and is currently a student at Columbia University. At the Whooton School, Luce used to tell all of the other boys about sex. Though he is “Fruity” and a “Phony,” Holden says that he finds Luce amusing. When Luce arrives, he is cold to Holden, and Holden keeps asking him questions about sex. Luce refuses to go back to his school discussions and suggests that Holden needs to see a Psychoanalyst. After continued pestering from Holden, Luce leaves.
