Here's the complete broadcast of the CBS Tuesday Night Movies presentation of the 1978 film "Coach" (starring Cathy Lee Crosby, Michael Biehn and Keenan Wynn) via WBBM Channel 2.
This film - reportedly the first made by Crown International Pictures to have a network TV showing - is about an Olympic track star (played by Ms. Crosby) being hired to coach a high school basketball team, no-one knowing that star is a woman, and when they find out they try to force her out. It is of no relation to the 1989-97 ABC Network series of the same title that starred Craig T. Nelson, Jerry Van Dyke and Shelley Fabares.
A little bonus will follow at the end of this flick.

She also prostituted herself so she could help the student get a good college placement. I know 1979 was a very different time but I do wonder how many grandmas and grandpas sat down to watch the movie of the week and got this...

Great commercials, makes me wonder why Suzuki stopped selling motorcycles in the U.S. And the Lysol Deodorizing Cleaner spot, was nostalgicly funny! The 'housewife' standing in a 'studio' kitchen that has yet to see a peck of dirt, telling us how she owes it all to Lysol Deodorizing Cleaner was so funny.

The show "Mr. Dugan" was one of the few shows, in the history of television, that was advertised but canceled by for it aired a single episode. Norman Lear had toyed with an idea of creating a new sitcom about a freshman congressperson. Initially this idea was used for the last few episodes of "Maude" before Bea Arthur decided end her show. Afterwards, a couple of pilots were made with congressperson being an Black former football player representing Philadelphia. The role was first played by John Amos (a few years after he was killed off "Good Times" he left over creative differences with Lear and would be replaced by Cleavon Little. Now, for the reason why the show never saw the light of day. CBS and Lear had high hope for the show as they had both TV Guide ads and TV promos circulating in anticipation of March 11, 1979 debut. However, CBS decided to air the show in front of the Congressional Black Caucus, That is when things went downhill. The problem with the show was that they made Cleavon's character a buffoon, instead of a smart cookie like Black Bart in "Blazing Saddles. CBS had no choice but to pull the series from air. Later in 1979, Lear reworked the idea again with Bill Macy in the show "Hanging In". That show only lasted a few weeks. How I would like to have seen an episode of "Mr. Dugan", just to see how bad it really was. Then again, with cancel culture, it's probably a good idea it has not seen the light of day. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Dugan

Do you happen to have complete episodes of the midnight special from NBC? I've always wanted to see an episode complete, starting with the ending Johnny Carson, Midnight Special and finishing with tomorrow... I think. Even if you have to mute some audio, it would be a pleasure to watch! Thanks!

An interesting and steamy exploitation flick undermined by an amateurish production and an emphasis on the wrong story elements. And no real ending Terrible but memorable at the same time. Thanks for making it available!

One person who taped off the air around this time had the VCR on when the "Death Wish" promo came on, on another night - and afterwards, with the CBS 'Eye-D', Pat Connell intoning, "Channel 2, New York" - reference to WCBS-TV.
