The Celtics Just Won The Finals And Became The Most Hated Team In The NBA

The Celtics have become hated in the NBA.
Slowly but surely, the Celtics have become the most hated team in the NBA playoffs.
A few years ago, everyone was excited for what the Celtics would do with their 20 million draft picks, even if no one messed with the fans… (*some Celtics fan racism edit)*
And now this year even with 64 wins in the season, everyone was unimpressed.
I guess it’s because Jaylen Brown has 4 months to win 5 championships.
The Celtics have always been ahead of the timeline. In 2018, making the conference finals with a rookie Tatum, hurt Kyrie, a super young Jaylen Brown wasn’t supposed to happen. And back then, the feeling was one of excitement.
But that big promise still hasn’t been fulfilled. *And it’s turned into something else, as you’re about to see.*
And he forgets that he’s 6’ 8”. Ok this bit is actually frustrating, just finish, stop with this rip thru, broooo--
Maybe it’s the Kobe imitation and corniness.
So now in their 6th year, another conference finals, their 2nd finals, but it’s exhausting to be behind them because we’ve now associated disappointment with this core Celtics squad. Even after their best regular season by far, I say for them the same thing I say for Harden and Embiid, let’s wait till the playoffs**.** Yet, there’s something that’s clouding judgement.
Even on RU-vid, for the past two years, Jxmyhighroller, based on the numbers in the regular season, picked the Celtics to win it all.
And this year, Jxmy said it, I can’t pick them again and decided to say that’s it’s not possible to predict with only numbers. To that, I agree, but the Celtics made him lose so much faith, that he just couldn’t stick with his entire mantra.
Remember the term voter fatigue, the phenomenon where media members who vote on the annual NBA awards eventually tire of voting for repeat candidates.
And through these past few years, we’ve heard that Tatum and Brown might not want to play with each other, they might leave in 2021, but here we are 3 years later, with both of them here for at least another year.
But the ahead of the process timeline has warped our perspective. *So instead I’d like to show you something to bring it back down to earth.*
Here’s a chart of the youngest Finals MVPs in history. Magic is the youngest at 20, Tim and Kawhi started early at 22, but when you get to 26, 27, you start seeing names like LeBron, Shaq, Jordan, and Bird, all of who would go on to win 3 or more titles after their first.
But does consistent success early on in a career and not winning a chip mean that we don’t appreciate that they are still on the timeline with the greats of the game?
For as much of a polarizing player Tatum is, he’s only 26. Jaylen Brown is only 27. That’s the same age of Giannis and Jokic winning their first. I’m not saying that these guys are on the same level, I’m saying that it can take time to learn to win at the biggest stage consistently, that technically we should be excited that these finals are gonna give us a new Finals MVP. But there’s another issue that gets people so angry about the Celtics.
People are tired of the Celtics squandering their championship window since that doesn’t come as often, but also frustrated by this year’s sequence of events.
Maybe it’s that the Celtics don’t deserve to win like this. And I’ll agree with the fact that the Celtics had some insane luck, that it’s a luxury when your supposed best offensive player Jayson Tatum can put up 21.8 points per game on under 42% and still easily win a series.
Simply because the have so much draft capital that they tricked the Nets out of, that everyone has been waiting for that blockbuster move. But they got Jrue Holiday, an NBA champion, they got Porzingis, a consistent 20 and 7 a night.
So now if they outplay the Mavericks, they will have gotten over the hump, they will have sealed the deal. And then you have to respect them. You can hate how inconsistent they are, but they would have proved that they can win.

The problem with modern fans is they have no patience for player development. Unlike the old NBA, today's rookies needs to be soaked to the structure of the team. How many young guys today won it all in their first 4 years? Even Giannis was a victim of the media hype and scutinization. After Giannis fell short after winning back to back MVPs, media lost hope on him until he and the Bucks upset the Nets and Suns in 2021. Since 2011, only Kawhi won under 25 and that's because he's playing with a great Spurs team with HOFers. And here are the age and years in the league of the players who won it all in this time span by the time they won it all for the first time in their careers Dirk = 33 years old / 13 years Lebron = 28 years old / 9 years Kawhi = 23 years old / 3 years Curry = 27 years old / 6 years Durant = 29 years old / 9 years Davis = 27 years old / 8 years Giannis = 27 years old / 8 years Jokic = 28 years old / 8 years By average, Tatum is just right on the track based on the age and years average. And lots of 19 year old guys needs alot of maturing before winning it all. Its not like the old NBA days where you can draft a ready-made superstars who can impact the wins on your team in an instant because of their extensive college backgrounds and experiences.

I don't hate the celtics. Its just that, their road to the finals had little to no resistance thanks to the injuries of the opposing team's players. Whereas the mavs had to go up against powerhouses and won. Every matchup, everyone thought they'd lose... But they defied the odds and managed to beat every single team, so it makes me want to root for them. And now that the Celtics are about to sweep the team that nobody thought would make it this far, people are starting to lose interest.

@@6MinutesLothar i'm not crying about the injuries. i'm just saying that the celtics beating these teams with little to no resistance is kinda boring to watch. so it makes people want to root for the mavs because of how competitive their previous matches were. to be fair it's better than seeing refs rig matches by handing out fouls to keep the game close. but it's so boring that there's no point in watching the games anymore when the game is this one-sided. It's gotten to the point that the media are covering other topics like LeBron James and the WNBA rather than the NBA finals.

First of all that's called seeding. If you were the best team in the regular season you have the easiest road to the finals. That's just how it is. Second of all Mavs were not the underdog many people like them to be. They had the best offensive back court all year. And the best defense in the league for the last 20 games of the regular season after that trades for Gafford and Washington. And lastly the ECF against Indy were a hell of a series. There was this one blowoutish win in Game 2. But apart from that Indy gave us our money's worth. Despite their best player got injured in the series. Could have easily gone to 6 games. I don't think the Celtics are suffering from "Shiny new object" because the Heat are praised for "constantly being in the fight". The problem is that the Celtics keep losing to "people they shouldn't lose to." So it comes off as constant choking rather than "Being bested" and a "about time" feeling if they do win. And like Luka not getting MVP votes is not just "He's constantly there" but "He's constantly there but never shows anything in the playoffs" It was the same with Giannis and Jokic, everyone kept saying "If he wins a championship" or "If he does well in the playoffs" then the next year they'd get more votes. It's all about 'ranking'. If you're called "The best in the game" for years, but can't win, then everyone is thinking "Well he ain't really the best". Where as if you're just 'normal' or 'good' but constantly close to winning everyone is thinking "Well they might be one of the best." TL;DR: The problem is that Celtics are falling short of EXPECTATIONS consistently, and that leaves more of an impression than their actual results.

@@WillLI05 the only one that is correct is 2023. Every other one you're wrong. For years the Celtics were the youngest team in the league never mind the playoffs. 2018 was Tatum's first year, kyrie and gordon were out. The 2018 cavs had a good roster, you're being willfully stupid about a young injured Cs team making it to the ECF where no one expected them to go. 2020 Celtics beat the big 3 nets, then the 2 seed raptors and lost to a heat team that finished the year 4 wins behind them. Not that big of a difference, son. 2021 nets were heavy title favorites from the start of the year, so even if we play by your vegas odds rules, you're wrong there. How about that for nuanced arguments, son?
@WillLI05
@WillLI05 16 дней назад
@@huckleberry12 Yeah I figured you would come back with that. See here is the problem you did exactly what I said. In hind sight you can say all of that. But that is 100% irrelevant to the point. Because the point is about EXPECTATIONS. Not about the reality of their strength. Again you can do things like looking at actual vegas odds for a lot of these. 2018 The odds did swing in the cavs favor, but it wasn't even 300, people didn't trust that team, but because lebron was on it they were in the top. 2020? The odds makers said the odds of the heat winning 4-2 (The actual result) was +500. Celtics were also favored -150 "to win". At that point the celtics were +375 for the title and miami was +550. So yeah, the Celtics were EXPECTED to win. It's not about "how big a difference" it is. You wanna talk nuance? Actually get your opponent's argument right first 'son'.

I've been also rooting for celtics since 2022 Actually it's so easy to predict the nba champion I predicted last year that either Boston or Denver will win championship, but I rooted for boston because I like JT and JB But I'm not shocked that Denver won it And this year, I predicted the same thing but when Jokic got the MVP I already knew that Boston will win it all It's just the hype for Luka and Mavs in social media is insane, so I thought maybe Dallas will make history but after game 3 I can comfortably say hell nah So how it's easy to predict the champion? After regular season you can already predict who's gonna be the champion So here's how I predict: 1.Since 1995, there is no teams below 3rd seed in each conference wins NBA championship It's always #1-#3 seed, so you're gonna pick teams from there It doesn't matter if KD, LeBron, Steph, Giannis or any superstar's team is below 3rd seed, they won't gonna win 2. Nobody talks about it but right now the regular season MVP award is now cursed, 2015 steph curry is the last regular season MVP who win the finals in the same year So whoever got the MVP, you're not gonna win in the finals this year son, so when jokic got his third MVP, I already knew the Nuggets are OUT 3. So the #1-#3 seeds from each conference, that's 6 teams. So I'm gonna arrange them by chances that I think could win in the finals I based it in my hunch on who I think has the best chance Then I'm gonna pick the best team from each conference as a winner This year it was: East: Celtics, Bucks, Knicks West: Nuggets, Wolves, Thunder Winner: Celtics or Nuggets Last year for me it was: East: Celtics, Bucks, Sixers West: Nuggets, Kings, Grizzlies Winner: Nuggets or Celtics 2022 for me was East: Celtics, Heat, Bucks West: Warriors, Suns, Grizzlies Winner: Celtics or Warriors I only pick from top 3 seed from each conference then I wouldn't expect a lower seed to have an upset but when the finals came in, I always believe in history and I'm confident that history is always right No matter how good the lower seed is, they'll never gonna win against a higher seed Except if the matchup is against #1-#3 seeds of course and it's kinda difficult if that is the matchup in the finals But number 1 seed almost always wins in the nba finals The only time 1st seed lose to a lower seed is 2001, 2002, and 2019 finals in this millenium And when 2nd and 3rd seed face each other, in recent memory it's always the 3rd seed that wins, and this is when people call it "upset" That's how I predict NBA champions. not based on bias, or hype, or stats I always stick to history
@jyuuichiro1131
@jyuuichiro1131 16 дней назад
So for the lower seeds: Only 1995(#6) Rockets and 1969(#4) Celtics are the only lower seeded teams that won NBA finals So if you're teams is below third seed, it's almost 0% chance for your team to win, you're gonna go to the finals sure but all your hopes and dreams will be crushed because history will not be on your side and you'll gonna need miracle and destiny on your side if you want to win it all

I'm a Celtics hater, and they have one of the best teams I've seen in a long time. When they're all healthy, they remind me a little bit of the '17 Warriors with KD. I hope they won't be able to run this team back, because it's boring to watch them dominate teams with this stacked roster. I don't think the Mavs will win, but I still hope they do because I love a good underdog victory.

the reason I despise the Celtics is because of the media and league pushing for an american star in Tatum. The celtics had no business even playing the 2022 finals is it wasn’t for the refs carrying them with the huge free throw difference over the Heat. I’ve been over the Celtics ever since the league dragged them past the Heat in 2022 just to drop an L vs the Warriors to nobody’s surprise. Here they are annoyingly again, now with Tingus Pingus and faced only injured teams. I’m going for Luka
@Gurenn83
@Gurenn83 16 дней назад
Oh boy. You will end up crying coz this Celtics roster is so damn good that they can make it back to the Finals next year. Also, Luka's triple doubles just proves how meaningless they are if you cannot even win a game. Defense wins championships and that is something Luka is not great at (just offense).
