My husband was buried here in March of 2001. Unfortunately I now live in Central Victoria and am unable to visit. R.I.P. Louis Joseph Stephens.

My great great Uncle, Sir John See, first Premier of NSW 1903 is buried in this cemetery. He made his fortune as a Cedar Timber merchant and ship owner.

I love cemeteries … I find them telling the history… I visited a lot of cemeteries around Australia… but oldest one fascinating me…

‘Tis a beautifully kept and Historical Family records.

It truly is a walk through Australian history. Going to school in Gosford I learned about Henry Kendall and his great poem The Bellbirds. He wrote the poem in that area after hearing the beautiful chimes of the birds around the sandstone area of Godford. Kendall's cottage is located in West Gosford The info given on Victor Trumper is not that well known. He could easily be regarded as one of the foundation fathers of Rugby League in Sydney from 1908. Victor excelled in at least three sports also being a first grade baseball player with the Paddington Club. His schoolboy mate was Monty (M.A.) Noble who also played baseball with Victor and as great cricketers they are always remembered by having spectator stands named after them at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

My Great Grandparents on my Father side are resting in Waverly. My Great Grandfather in 1915 . And then in 1954 his wife joined him in 1954 . Sadly the Angel lost it's head 💔. I need to revist. With much thanks to all. 💕

Evelyn James (nee Marsden), nurse and stewardess aboard the RMS Titanic, is buried at Waverley. Evelyn survived the sinking in lifeboat 16; having been persuaded to get aboard by Mr J. Bruce Ismay, managing director of the White Star Line. Evelyn rowed until her hands were raw. Following her death, Evelyn's heartbroken husband, Dr William Abel James died just eight days later and they are at rest together.

Good to see a cemetery cared for and its occupants respected. Unlike Karrakatta - currently undergoing ‘renewal’ and graves being desecrated to make room for more in between. My pioneer ancestors are not being respected.

I used to walk through the cemetery after woke fifty years ago to visit a friend , I was around 16 😊 beautiful cemetery , I wonder if I attracted anything there, every now and then I have ‘unusual’ experiences 🙂

We should build affordable apartments over this land. Of course, we have to move on at some point. But it is prime real estate. We can recreate it digitally for those who cling to some foolish notion of the afterlife. Build a website for them or something. But it is such a wasted indulgence to have a blank space like this.
