Got the standard Caledonia, it is leagues better in terms of comfort and ride quality. Fitted 28mm on it and it’s like a dream. It is also surprisingly stiff and fast. Don’t be surprised if you make new PRs on an endurance bike.

Ive been riding the Caledonia for about 18 months (it still has the cutout on the seat tube like the 5). I love it. I've raced it and it's great. I slapped Rene Herse Bon Jon Pass (35mm) that measure at 37.5 and they worked while clearance to the seat tube was closer than I would prefer. I've swapped out the seat post, bars, stem and wheels. The bike is a dream.
So far, just watch the intro…I switched from a Tarmac SL6 to a Roubaix and “I’m “ faster and more comfortable on a Roubaix and the bike is beautiful! I was in love with Caledônia, however I changed my mind when I saw it in person.
I've had the Caledonia-5 for 2.5 years. It is a pretty bike. It is aero, racy and corners well. It is stiff. Stiff. Not the most compliant bike out there.
Like we said, the tire definitly have a huge impact on the ride. the 30c tires at low pressure make the Caledonia feel really smooth. The Soloist will of course fit 30s, but if you do you'll raise the BB and start to change how the bike feels setting up into a corner. The Caledonia has a noticeably better ability to ride rough stuff fast. The extra trail in the fork and the extra wheelbase make it really pound through chunky sections of pavement while the Soloist/R5/S5 geo can get bucked off line a bit in the big bumps.
Just got a very good deal on the Caledonia 5 frame in oasis. I‘m looking forward to build and ride it. Just a bit unsure about the recall concerning the stem faceplate, currently the recall is limited to North America.
I can get a 2022 with Ultegra Di2 in Oasis for $3800, with no damage except a major scuff to the left shifter. This brand doesn't seem to be the best value, so is it worth it or should I go with a new year-end discounted bike that will be in the same ballpark or less, e.g. Specialized Roubaix Comp, Trek Domane SL 6 Gen 4, Cannondale Synapse Carbon 2 RLE, Giant Defy Advance 2 or Canyon Endurance CF 7 All-Road?
This bike was really easy to assemble ru-vid.comUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
My LBS suggested this yesterday after telling them I was looking at a used 2022 Trek Domane SL7 for $5300. I'm assuming this is a carbon frame? The Cervelo website doesn't state that unless I'm missing something.
Yup - the entire Cervelo line is currently carbon fiber. Cervelo also only creates 1 layup for each model in their line too, meaning that the highest and lowest level of bike using a specific frame will have the same features and ride quality. Put a deposit on a Caledonia U DI2 Oasis (will go nicely with my Zipp 303s). Sad to see that Cervelo doesn't even include a hint on the size chart... They say to go to our LBS to ask for recommendations. Went there, they asked me what I was usually riding (Felt F5X 53, Propel Advanced Pro 1 54, Giant TCR 54), then they told me a 54 should fit. SHOULD ???
I’ve been eyeing the Caledonia-5 for some time now. How does it feel compared to the cervelo R3 (handling? Acceleration? Ability to hold speed? Power transfer? Descending? Compared to other endurance bikes with shorter wheelbases (Roubaix, Synapse, Road machine) does it feel less ‘lively’/agile/fast/fun? Thanks for the video.
Hi there, if you haven't decided on your bike yet, I came from an r3 and size 54 to a Caledonia size 51. I find the ride very similar. It handles like a race bike.
Relatively easy to assemble ru-vid.comUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA (note that is does not come with tools, so please have a set of hex/Allen keys and Phillips screwdriver handy). The bike weighs 27 lbs fully assembled, which is not bad.A couple quirks about the bike:- left brake lever operates the front brake (something to get used to if controlling the front brake with your right hand is what you usually do)- Shimano thumb shifters for the gears are positioned close to the center. This is a bit of a nuisance because changing gears involved taking your weight from one hand to change gears, a hassle if you are regularly changing gears. However, gear shifters positioned at the drop bars are very expensive compared to thumb shifters, so I can understand, given the price of the bikeBike is otherwise of good quality. Gears change fairly smoothly and fit/assembly is of good quality. A totally competent product for the price.

What about the weight. That info is nowhere to be found… When you look for an long ride bike in the mountains, weight is important. The fact that Cervélo doesn’t even mention it on its website makes me believe the Caledonia etap axs rival is over 8.5 kg.
Thousands of $ for a cheap mainland China made cookie cutter frameset where the manufacturer can't even make a to spec BB hole, which is why Cervelo recently increased their own designated PF bottom bracket standard tolerance from 0.5mm's to 0.8mm's. New suckers born every minute. LOL
