There is no possible way to express exactly what this band means to me. Script of the Bridge got me through college. The musicianship, Mark's voice, the haunting lyrics. These songs are truly the soundtracks of peoples' lives. Such an amazing band. Thank you, KEXP.
If life was fair Mark would be the lead singer of a world famous band that I could never afford to get tickets to see. Fortunately for me life isn't fair so I've managed to see him & his fantastic band perform live a few times 😎
This existence is the devils playground, Mark was not prepared to play the devils game, simple as that, he is happy, he didn't need the illusion of fame ,and the excess wealth it would have brought.
If I could go back, I would be in the UK in the early 80s & 90s, especially Manchester. So much top music; must be why these melodies & guitar riffs make me cry.🖤
I always wondered this myself. I saw them once in Chicago and the guitarist was being a dick to security and I realized oh, maybe some of them are cunts that nobody wanted to work with?
second skin has always been literally my favorite chameleons tune, but i think on the beach sounds even better in this video. i'd love to hear them do intrigue in tangiers. the way that tune kicks in makes my heart skip beats.
It's a small shame their keyboardist isn't touring, as the second guitarist is attempting to keep the keyboard melody line and it kills the intricate interplay of the guitars. Yeah it's live, but the keyboard melody is better as a underscore not a oft too repeated melody phrase.
Injustement méconnu, The Chameleons ont créé un son unique et extraordinaire. Mark Burgess est touchant avec sa voix erraillée; question instruments, tous les quatre jouent à un haut niveau. Je suis amoureux.
KEXP just keeps on getting the best bands live like The Chameleons for example. Inside this studio you better have your chops down otherwise the band will sound and look foolish. I wish we had a studio or even radio station of this quality in Toronto. No such luck though and thats why I keep buying lottery tickets. If I ever won my dream would be to beam such great beautiful music all over the world from up here in the great white north.
Respect for one of the greatest band of the eighties which was for me a way of living and thinking....Mark Burgess that I have seen twice recently on stage is probably the most honest musician I may know.... 55 years old...and an unrecognized genius...
Don’t usually comment but saw this band I think 2018 one of those bands that I wanted to see before I die and worth it. Sometimes old bands don’t sound great but they are worth it. I felt I should of paid more lol this band means a lot to me just like everyone who loves them.
Listen to the lyrics, really listen to the lyrics. Mark is probably happy enough travelling the world playing his songs , he did not need world fame ,and was perhaps not prepared to sell his soul to achieve that. He made the right decision, because he is a man of principle , a man of integrity , a man who stands by the truth of this existence. Blessings to all brothers and sisters, you know who you are.
like Mark Hollis from Talk Talk! ❤ great musician's 👍 🔥 🥵 my fave song 🎵 is perfume garden! we r so lucky to have this great band!!!!!! ❤️ from USA❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Saw these on Thursday night and were a whole level above where they're at in this video. Had the crowd in the palm of their hands all night. Top class.
Sounds awesome for a guy with a sore throat! I love The Chameleons. I recently got the front cover of strange times printed on a t-shirt and it looks amazing! Good quality too :)
The Chameleons are a phenominal band and loved they’re music which I find to be timeless .I’m glad in 2021 we can still hear them and they still sound really good live. The guitar work is spot on I’m enjoying listening to this..
One of the greatest! Wish "Tears" was included which is a big part of my life..."one of the songs that plays in demand inside your brain, heart & soul" but Thank You KEXP for archiving.
Long life to Mark & cia. Such a good performance, despite the bad voice.... perfumed garden is such an incredible song.... and what a rendition to View from a Hill. legends
What a brilliant performance, seriously. Also you can see Mark at 1:13 telling the guitarist to slow down, he started it off so fast. I don't know why, it happens at every live show (Not just Chameleons, but bands in general)
I cannot help but to feel a strong connection to nature whenever I play the Chameleons. Their music makes me think of all the adventures I've taken. Definitely among one of my top favourites. A very beautiful band indeed.
WoW, Time-shift! Still great, maybe even better than ever before. There was no other Band in the Eighties and early Nineties who could create this Sound, Domo KEXP and Domo to the Chameleons!
My first Chameleons gig was September 86 at Manchester International. The band have been a part of my life since; I'll literally take them to my grave. Manchester December 2014 was class, as was Oxford 2016. Love you long time, Perfume Garden.
Hearing you loud and clear ! Thanks for your input it's been a blast . You go fly the flag me and the rest of fans at the sold out gigs around the world will sleep. Happy tonight . Chameleons vox
+Steven Grant Used to love going to Chameleons Vox gigs back in the day, before things turned sour......glad to hear you still enjoy, others of us feel differently.
ooh thank you so much KEXP for posting this, you're keeping the music culture at its best!!! The Chameleons is also a huge part of my young age!! I was just listening to them last week...... What a sound and what a band!!! Please come back to play in Geneva/Switzerland, you guys are loved here!
