I take you on a walk through the changing areas of Blackpool. If you like what I do, you can make a donation to my PayPal at paypal.me/Stephencheatley?cou...
If it wasn't for the sight of the tower or the sound of the seagulls you would think you were in the sketchy inner city areas of say Liverpool, Manchester or Birmingham when strolling down Central Drive. Hard to believe you are just a few hundred yards from the seafront of the most famous holiday resort in the UK. Yet in the other direction you are in what looks to be a desirable residential area within a couple of minutes walk. Fantastic video showing all faces of Blackpool
@@davidscott9483 “Once you know the areas”. Yes, Blackpool is the same too. It’s a shame the nicer areas are hardly ever shown. Plenty of new housing being built which is very much a plus.
Most seaside towns are the same I used live in Bournemouth and parts of that were very seedy and rundown. Ithink Blackpool has a lot going for it, it is what it is!
Watch all your videos and you are the best at providing videos. Varied all over the town day and night. Keep up the great work Steven. Bringing Blackpool into our homes. Excellent.👍👍
Hello Mr walk on the wild side, l have been watching your old videos, a walk in the winter times, and other ones, thanks for them, looking forward for this one thanks again 💚👍🏴.
Ah Stephen, thank you as always for allowing me to accompany you on your latest Blackpool 'walk about' report. A great nightcap and I always sleep peacefully after viewing your latest update on the place that I love so much after many decades of visits to this great place!
Whatever happens in Blackpool Stephen...so long as we can hear the seagulls, walk along prom and of course see the view of the magnificent tower, then Blackpool will always be beautiful 😍
I used to cycle to work down Grasmere road and Central drive on the way to the H&A club, I was a glass collector. Central Drive was never brilliant but it looks dreadful now. Even worse a few of us from School used to go into the George pub occasionally. 😂. Who can remember Fast Ted’s barbers?
I lived in a flat at the back of Stagebox in the 90's, my sister had a flat above 'a stitch in time'. My uncle had a barber shop further down and my mum had a Guest House where H&T Pawnbrokers is. Unbelievable how run down it looks compared to 25 years ago. sad to see.
I use to use the Stagebox music shop when I lived in Blackpool, Danielle who now runs it is a lovely lady. And I use to use the Central Drive Laundrette and they are decent guys.
We had a fancy goods shop down Chapel Street in the 70’s during heatwave 1976 everywhere was vibrant and alive the shops all open and many visitors. Sad to see the decline which was bound to happen as more people started going abroad for holidays. Really good video .
I am staying in a hotel literally just down the road where you were filming this video It's a shame I didn't bump into you I watch your videos all the time 😆
Stephen, I used to love walking up Central Drive, I hope when this new entertainment centre is built, some tlc will be put into returning the life into the area.
Hello again Stephen how are you today You're knowledge of Blackpool is amazing you know all the areas avenues Good areas and bad areas Stephen we need even more streets of Blackpool absolutely well worth watching because you're showing areas of Blackpool that the tourist doesn't see Take care Stephen
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as always central drive needs some tlc the run down roads could be so nice if they had some money spent on them tower looks amazing as always have a great evening xx
I have been in the King Edward only once and that was about 25 years ago. It was alright though. Don’t know what it’s like now. Don’t really go into pubs as I stopped drinking many years ago. My place for drinking was the old Yates Wine Lodge.
I was called up do jury service when I was 18 and one of the cases over the fortnight was importuning for immoral purposes by a young lad in those toilet you mention in Bethesda Square. We have to look at pictures of the place as part of the evidence and I must say they did look unsavoury to say the least! We found him not guilty by the way. Hanging about in those toilets must have been unpleasant job for the police officers and I think they simply fitted up the first person that went in there that was gay.
The Mrs had a Betty boop tattoo done at that shop years ago and it now has no face because during key hole surgery on her shoulder she had a bad reaction to something put on her lower arm causing big blisters that looked like chemical burns one of which was the face area of the tattoo, yes the NHS literally wiped the smile off Betty Boops face , after five years it has healed to an extent that she should be able to have the face area re done when we come to Blackpool begining of Sept.
My family used to own the Tasty Plaice chip shop at the bottom of Palatine Road in the 80s and 90s, such a shame to see it now. Hopefully the area will improve soon.
The best way to describe that walk was 'from the alright side to the downright dodgy side '. I quite like the 'dodgy side' not that I would like to linger . Good Vid.
you should interview real blackpool people on there thoughts of the state of blackpool. i would imagine you would struggle to find a real blackpool born and bred resident
Love how that guy does a runner at 5:14 when he realises you're filming 😂. I actually like the sound of the seagulls; makes me think I'm at the seaside, not the Midlands; that said, last time me & the wife went to Blackpool, a seagull shat in my wife's Harry Ramsden's chips 😂; I saw the funny side - she didn't! Great work, Steve, as always 👍.
I use to live off Grasmere Road, Rose Avenue, it was lovely in the 60's 70's, cannot believe how much it has changed! Revoe Tuck shop use to be in big demand next to Revoe School!
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool Yes I do! I use to live at number 36! I was actually born in the house, so was my brother! My mother opened a cafe in the town centre opposite the old GPO, she was only the third person to open a cafe in Blackpool, and was the first to sell chip butties! The cafe was down a side street, Cheapside, tucked away from tourists but used my the 'regulars' and the people from the Winter Gardens who knew about it, we once had all the Tiller Girls in! Happy days, it is really sad to see how far it has declined!
Some of the shops look run down Stephen, much like a lot of towns nowadays, and it's not much better than some of the resorts on the North Wales coast here. It looks like things improve as you go towards the town centre. You say that you've never had a tattoo, and never wished for one? I'm just the same. I'm terrified of needles to say the least. I had a local anaesthetic a few years ago for an ingrown toe nail. and I blacked out! Not for me, Stephen, no way. Anyhow, keep well and safe. Many thanks for this presentation.
Welcome to modern Britain. Blackpool typifies how well British towns are surviving in the C21st. Glitzy, glass fronted emporia overlooking the promenade but noisy, dirty & squalid reality at the rear. Those who can, retreat into the hinterlands, freeing up space for the new comers.
It's not a good advert for a tourist attraction at the height of Summer...it's become a political dumping ground like most towns & Cities throughout the uk.
We have a knife bin in Burnley (and swords) its a sign of a responsible community. I have to say your painting a gloomy picture struth, I'm coming to Blackpool on holiday in two weeks
It is? Surely a responsible community would look after their knives and maintain them instead of chucking so many away they need a special bin installed.
@@sevenman9672 It's the special bin that takes dangerous and unnecessary knifes off the street and beyond use.Thats my point of a responsible community. An irresponsible community wouldn't act.
Stephen, at 3mins 50 seconds your going past an hairdressers that you think was once a tuck shop for the school, if you look up there's a road sign that indicates left to a SHOP, is it the most important shop in Blackpool, please investigate
When I was a wee girl, back when dinosaurs walked the earth, there was a burger stall outside the Castle pub and as I could never eat breakfast in whatever Guest House we were staying in, my Dad took me for a burger mid morning. I don't think I could ever find another that tasted so good.
Great video as usual Stephen, doesn't look the best area you can go. Reminds me of your Lythem Road and Bond Street videos. Would've want to go there at night
I'm curious, how do you film your videos? No one ever seems to notice or care that you're filming. Not a criticism or anything at all, your videos are my absolute favourites on RU-vid, I'm just wondering.
Hey mate great video this ..... Other day when u flimed coral in island and you said aboit Leroy about reviewing that chip shop inside .Leroy did eat there and flimed it too mate .... Have you heard anything new about leroy please I have heard lots of different stories about him from other you tubers on here ...
Stephen, hi my friend. Let’s be honest, I’m going to say what I shouldn’t. There is an area like this in every big city/town. These are the people who are supposed to be “multi cultural “ and just make their own ghettos and just try to relieve the indigenous citizens of their lives.
The council are investing their money in the wrong places. All these development plans are focused on restoring places close to the prom to pull in more tourists but they forget about everywhere else. Take south shore for example, no new developments there and it’s just being left to rot. Caring more about tourism than the locals
I use to drive a taxi in Blackpool and I’ve never seen Central Drive so run down ,shame on the council letting it get into such a state, what surprises me is the amount of Asian people living in the area ,from someone who was born and bred in Blackpool it saddens me to see this ,Central Drive even when I was young was always a bit rough and ready ,but never as bad as this ,after seeing this it’s going to take some super big investment to turn it round
Do the local Council Members watch your YT? I lived there back in 1974. So much cleaner, no cars on pavements, no excess of litter...there are enough people to take care of their own location?
Looks like a right dumping grown now sad to say. Been there a few times and you don't realise how some parts are that bad. Still would go for a day though. That's about it.
