I basically grew up at my Aunt and Uncles camp in Donaldson's Camp Grounds just before the channel leading into Upper Saranac Lake. Sadly both have passed. Many, many good times. Wish I could get them back. When I first got Married, I took my wife to Chapel Island for a Sunday service. I'm not Religious, but even though she used to camp at Rollins Pond over in the State Campgrounds, she never went to the island. She cried but it's all good up in that whole area of Long Lake, Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, Lake Ckear and Fish Creek Ponds. We always go up every Summer. Wish I didn't sell my boat 2 years ago. My cousin used to own Double Jay's Pizza across from Hickok's Boat Livery. Yeah real good times.
"Hickok's Boat Livery" - oh YES. Starting at 12yo with my Scout troop, til 20 years later I have paddled those (darn-heavy-to-portage) aluminum canoes. Last time camped on Goose Island with my wife and the dog.
