The tenant of Herm, Peter Wood, talks about the work he has done in the seven years he has lived on the island and the community of 12 families introduce the restored buildings, local industries, gift shop, church, school, stores and the Mermaid Tavern.

I came across this wonderful archive film whilst reading Jenny Wood’s book I found on a sale shelf outside my local library… What an amazing story of a dream come true. I now wish to visit Herm in her memory x

Nothing's stopping you! We've just got back from our usual week there in October every year. Have a look at my other videos, I've posted a drone fly-around and a walk down from the top of the island to the harbour.

Amazing footage! Thank you. Major Wood threw us out of the island back in 1977 for under age drinking and speeding up Shell Beach in a 16 ft Shakespeare (😂😂). But not for long.

What an absolute delight! As a Guernseyman now living in NZ, Herm remains a very special place in my life. I was lucky enough to live and work there for two seasons. The Woods are a wonderful family; they were passionate about the island and its community.

No I live in Lisbon now. My dad is George and Pats son. He mostly grew up in little Sark. George and Pat went on to run La Sablonnerie Hotel there. I have only been there one time. Where are you from?

@@edwardlister1000 I’m from Essex, we spend a week on Herm in October every year when it’s not so busy and we love it. You might be interested in a couple of the other videos I’ve posted. Never been to Sark, might give it a look some time.
