Awesome idea. Reading the comments there's only 1 legitimate concern. That people will use this to farm only meta characters. Solution, you don't pick a character, you pick a faction. Slowly grinding through characters until you unlock the last character in the faction. Maybe it'll take 6 months to unlock the full faction through these events but I think unlocking characters as you progress will feel rewarding. This way 40k fans have a way to collect the faction they downloaded the game for and people chasing meta characters will have a tonne of work to get through before they've optimized their list.
Yeah the Tacticus community has a huge problem with being too consumed by the meta. I mean I can deal great guild raid damage and yet I don't use any meta strategy and also there is no real reward from playing the meta because no matter the amount of resources you gain and how many upgrades you can give your character, you're not unlocking that much more to play with, you need to unlock characters to truly gain more gameplay. people should play with what they want mostly new players and what we need the most is a good way to be sure we can get the character we want one day. one idea I had was an exchange shop (where you could exchange upgrade item for example) that everybody even new players can access that always has a character shard option that change everyday for each faction in the game.
The fact that you need RNG to build even one of the three most effective GR comps is very eye opening and should be raising alarm bells, a long time ago frankly, with SP.
If a game is good, meta shouldn't matter. Players should be able to build whatever and still be effective enough to contribute to their success or guild
Snow print should listen to this guy bc unfortunately for them, I downloaded the game bc I wanted to play AdMech…imagine my disappointment when I realized that: A) they’re not unlockable like most of the other units, B) I was just at the tailwind of playing the event to unlock the Tech-priest dominus which I couldn’t have done anyway bc of how hard the event is, and C) the RNG would rather give me 5 shards for other characters that still aren’t farmable
As a DA player, with farming maybe 1 stone guardian fragment a day. I feel your pain. Let us play our fav factions, it is mostly the reason we're here.
I know a very easy concept from other pay to progress games: Reset tokens on campaigns. Reset an existing campaign. potentially have "stuff" you have to farm for it (or simply pay X$ for it!) before you´re allowed to reset a campaign. You can then pick and chose an uncommon/common/rare character of your choice that fits the narrative (xenos / imperium / Chaos) to add as prerequesite to the existing teams and replay the campaign. For each boss down, you get more shards of it. Bonus: You regain the old rewards, too. Rinse and repeat, no new mode no new coding, just let us reblock the campaigns and add a 4th char as requirement to play for shards so we can "relive" the campaigns continuously. Potentially make it more and more expensive the more often you have reset a campaign? Put Elites in the elite campaigns? make it more expensive depending the char you chose? So many options! But choice is key!

it's funny a lot of problems of this game can be solved with more campaigns, but yeah i had fun with incursions and definitely wish this can be used to farm some shards every now and then #CHOICES
Definitely agree. Every faction should have a campaign available to play, it might mean we have to wait a bit longer for new factions as the developers would need to build 6 characters from 2 factions to release simultaneously for the initial campaign 3 stages plus the mirror, but if they released campaigns pitting all the existing factions against one another that should keep everyone busy in the meantime!

What a damned good idea. I get lots of new people coming into my guild (about 2-3 every month) and it is heartbreaking because every one of them is like "man do I love me some x faction. How do I earn x faction?" And I gotta be like "...well, it's not as easy as all that, you just missed them or they were a year ago and you missed them" and then they lose interest. The new player quitting point in this game is extremely tenuous and based on the game featuring the IP they enjoy seeing and playing with.
Honestly having reinforcement charater events would be a great idea. Less pressure on SP to make new characters and they could finally finish the factions knowing they can effectively rerun charater events if they have technical issues with a new one
Great ideas. You show the biggest problem games like Tacticus have: the more characters they release, the harder it gets to get a specific character. I started when quest: tan gida was active and wait for Actus since that. Chances are getting smaller every month. For me there is a critical point of randomness at which I just stop playing the game, thinking that they become too greedy and random. That's when there are more randomly obtained than grindable. My personal idea is to just create further mirror campaigns, let's say necrons vs Mechanicum, black Templars vs Tyranids etc. and make money from that and increase the grind by requiring 4 characters of the beginning faction. I really like your AdMech theme and I hope you will produce a lot more videos in the future. You're the only way for me to get my 50 missing Actus shards 😂❤
P.S. removing early grind ables out of req scrolls and quests would also solve the problem. Why the hell should anyone like the upcoming quest: Angrax?! I drown in Angrax shards. I paid for quest: Yarrik and I liked it. Quest Angrax is just a missed opportunity to make money for snow print
Or put the existing factions without a campaign against one another eg blood angels vs world eaters, space wolves vs tyranids, dark angels vs death guard, adeptus mechanicus vs tau empire, adeptus sororitas vs genestealers or something along those lines.
Great ideas! I’d recommend one other. In the Milestones for Req Scrolls, that already fall right in line with SP’s approach, make some of those rewards a chooseable reward. A free legendary? How about a free Legendary of your choosing (so you don’t work at it forever only to wind up with a bunch of Abbadon shards). Free 500 shards? How about if your choosing (but single choice, unsplittable)?
When the linchpins for the best teams are locked behind RNG, it creates a bad experience for new player trying to get into the game. And your solution to this problem sounds excellent. #choices
I wish there was an onslaught lite mode that we could constantly play even if it only gave gold. So I can test new team setups without using a token or energy
Adding campaigns for unfarmable factions would help a bit, with the additional bonus of not having to spread upgrades to thinly when new factions with their specific upgrades are constantly added.
Unfortunately, campaigns bring the lowest profit out of all content in-game, most likely- you can easily beat them and not feel like needing to buy any pack EVER, since it'll just take some time to upgrade your teams. New content that brings F2P-friendly features needs to bring money to Snowprint, too.
@@TechPriestFred I hate this reasoning so much. You can't run business by selling only the thing with highest margin for you and refusing to do anything else given there is such demand for campaigns. I mean it will work for a while, but you'll eventually run out of slots in campaigns for upgrades and its not like there is not enough money coming to SP from Tacticus. I think this game would be dead for a long time if it wasn't using WH40k IP
@@kleskzor I feel like there should be some sort of permanent Incursion-style campaign thatd allow you to pick different set of missions each week or something and you could farm certain items inside them, f.e. 15 missions structured like a Quest that'd have thematic commons, uncommons, rares, epics and legendaries that you could farm with energy.
@@TechPriestFred That would be nice, but there are so many ideas floating around on discord how to improve basically every aspect of the game and not one of them is being implemented. We waited so long for Requistion Scroll rework and it pleased no one. It even made the game worse in places that worked just fine (mercy system for materials/shards). Ive lost all my faith in SP and the only thing that is keeping my from quitting Tacticus is the WH40K universe
Thank you, as someone who started playing this summer, I'm disappointed that the game is extremely difficult to come into as a new player and feels like I've missed out on a lot of content and can only gain access to it through RNGeezus. I'll also add that the way requisition drops work means that it isn't a fulfilling path to get any character much less a specific desired character. I like your proposals, I'm sure there are other possibilities but think there does need to be another path to unlocking characters. #choices
Luckily I started playing right after the end of Roswitha event and got her in a req early so then for late game it creates an even bigger problem in that the resources are so finite that you can't use any of the new characters that come out
Just started playing a month ago and its good to hear someone say things should be tweaked. Started playing and even unlocked titus from the season pass and to be honest i’m glad I did now learning he is unobtainium now. I would like to add though even if you unlock characters like Rho and neurothrope you won’t be able to upgrade that for higher level stuff unless you get lucky multiple times. I unlocked Rho from a drop but he is still stuck at 2 star uncommon so despite learning he is extremely useful i don’t feel that way because he is stuck at 2 stars and if i want him to be better I meed to get lucky yet again just to make him slightly better.
If it's shards then onslaught will let you level him up. But if it's a particular item then yeah you're stuck barring asking guild mates to help you out.
If the IP wasn't warhammer, I would hazard that choices mostly just lead to people only grinding the meta teams as directly as possible. But people definitely have strong attachments to factions, and actually SP has generally done a good job balancing, so some choice is very much appreciated. Maybe to reduce decision paralysis, a rotating subset of the ungrindable characters could be available in the HRE select screen.
Maybe I am too cynical but the player base #Choices will almost always just be the meta so creating multiple paths is not seen as a more content for the player. But also for me I would love to experiment with as many characters as I can so making them easier to acquire would be great.
Snowprint could do a really easy fix: Get rid of unlockable characters. Just give every character at base rarity to every player. LRE and HRE can be used to level them up if people want. if they dont they dont have to but they will have the character unlocked at least if they decide to develop him later. I missed the HRE of winged prime and still cant play him as of today because i cant pull him even if my life depended on it. but im not gonna shell out money for a BP just to unlock a character. thats just greedy in my opinion
This a great assessment. Particularly highlighting the impossibilities of using one of the 3 meta teams unless you happened to be playing for ages. As a bonus, I’ve been playing like a fiend for about 10months and still don’t have access to the Rogue Trader, so shouldn’t even be considering that in a route for new players to get shards. #Choices
I'm a new player, about 3 weeks in. Now I have a feel for how things work I can see I'm at a massive disadvantage from missing all these character releases. One thing I'd note about the hero events is that at the moment you get to skip orbs on the upgrading of the character, which feels like a big deal to me at the moment.
I think these #CHOICES are a really good idea! I'm mostly an Ork fan, but as a newer player, I still want some of Tau and others that are much harder to get! It also might be nice to have a better way to get common badges, as onslaught ends up not being a good way after you get to the higher stuff.
Started playing the last day of the Lucien unlock event and was 1 shard short asked around and was told not to do it because it was 600stones for 1 shard kind figured out early how predator this game is for those not in the know
I think those are some decent ideas for character aquisition, as a lategame player I have all the characters unlocked so it wouldnt affect me so much, but I find HRE event frustrating because of how difficult it is to unlock new characters at legendary which mean I have to grind them up on onslaught waste valuable legendary orbs on them, I have all the character at legendary gold 1 as a minimum #choices
They should make old LREs part of the game as a consistent playmode. When i started I could only compete in the last Aunshi Event. of course i missed him. Now i have to do stupid farming which takes forever, but at least in theory I could do it. I got lucky and was able to obtain shadowsun later. You cant farm her. or Vitruvius, or Ragnar, or Kharn and so on. so making it possible for new players to replay old LREs would be the most easy way to get access to those characters. And it doesnt cost SP anything to do it! Literally nothing, cause its already in the Code!!!! And it would be fun as well, developing your Roster to be able to 100% complete all the LREs! they could implement the token system as well like 1 a day but i dont think that would be necessary...
I brought this up on the Snowprint Discord like 6 months ago, and many, many other people have brought up the same issue. It sucks that none of the 3 viable teams are farmable. Snowprint's response was "We're aware of it". I think they don't want to fix the problem. #choices
IMO they should introduce another LRE-type event after eg.3 months of time that lets lower to mid level players unlock the legendary heroes easier, but not upgrade it (while also giving another chance of single upgrade for veteran players) OR like you said - availability of shards of every epic/legendary character in some sort of shops (guild/guild war or whatever)
SP need to release 3 Battle Pass characters simultaneously If they choose to do common rarity then you choose between a Xenos/Chaos/Imperial. You pick the character and you’re locked out from the others. That way I can farm for a character I may not have, like Roswitha or whatever. And do the same with other rarities. So for example: There’s 4 tiers of Battle Pass. All cost the same. You get Common and can pick from 1 character out of 3. Uncommon is the same and repeated to epic. Let me choose who I want to farm. The missions are the same no matter what character you really pick so coding isn’t ever going to be an issue as it’s copy and paste but kill X enemy that changes.
Yeah i wholeheartedly agree with this. Making characters redundant is already a big no for a lot of people and this plus the recent ork rework would ensure both parties win
One more thing; give us a free weekly scroll. Think about it, when you’re done with the campaigns and even elite campaigns, your only source of scrolls is battle pass, doing the daily missions & other character related missions to get the xp bar filled for the Haarken shards, daily shop @ 300 BS a scroll You don’t even get scrolls in arena chests or guild chests. If SP gave us a free weekly scroll in the arena shop or even in the inbox, in 2 months really I’ve got a free 10 pull. 5 free 10 pulls a year. They make most characters unattainable except during LREs, HREs or those blasted character weekly events which give you 1 shard per level no matter how high you can go
A tech priest saying that the system needs to be changed would be considered blasphemy by the standards of the adapteus mechanicum,but hey if belasarieus cawl did it so can tech priest fred,but really very good ideas to change the system personally I am a new player I played for like a month and a half now and I really love the world eaters, but sadly it is hard to get them and it's even more sad that I missed the first legendary release event of kharn the betrayer
there are 2 more coming but it will be really hard tbh. get the tacticus planner App and see what you need to unlock him and grind for those characters. it may work out in the 3rd event....
Ive been playing since Ulf HRE, the roster is broad and does help a lot, it would be nice if epic was more obtainable in the current state. I dont mind the RNG of it all. It is a Gatcha game and they have to make their money. I believe the best way forward would be to make req drops more obtainable. A weekly mission that requires a fair amount of playing to obtain that gifts one req scroll. DragonBall Dokkan does this effectively, the power creep is insane in that game, you must play to stay on top. #Choices
Letting us choose a character to work towards with reoccuring events would definitely fix the biggest issue. I dont think guild wars is a viable farm though, it would take a year of tokens just to get someone. Grind to unlock is okay but if everything takes a year and things get added like every quarter its impossible to keep up.
Ye more ways get characters is neded. Even 1 nu campaigns a year wold be nice. Tau ws deaths guard. And the 3 day character qwest shold have characters that cant be farmed for and characters they don rework on to show the diferens compared from old.
I like 40k lore. Orks make me laugh. But I WANT to play Black Templar (lucky me that’s a farmable Faction). I think they should let players pick at least 1 character to slowly unlock over time. Make it so we’re locked in for 35 days or whatever. I feel bad for the players who want Tyranids or something else you can’t farm
Id love to be able to place a bounty on characters or factions for req drops too. Probably some amount of Blackstone to set a bounty before doing the req drop?
there is a wrong point the astra millitarum, you cannot farm yarrick. (yet) there isn't a campaign to use to farm. You HAVE to either get lucky with a req scroll OR pay money up front when you download the game to unlock him. I didn't originally because i was trying to be a free-2-play and it took me over a year and a half to get lucky enough to unlock yarrick from a req pull.
I just wanna have a way to work towards the factions I wanna build. Like, if I got into a store I buy Tyranid pieces specifically, why can’t I play towards them specifically..? :/
Add campaigns for the factions that dont have one. Add a few more characters actually a new one or two per faction. A few game modes for just new players too #choices
nice ideas Ive given up on getting those legendaries as I started playing in Jan 24 and not got them in req drops and I only get about 1 ten pull a month now
Dude I played (as a very casual player) when the game was first released and my only legendary is ahriman that I had to farm from the campaign. I never got a legendary character from the req drop and the mercy system has come too late for me to use it at all to get legendary.
I must suck at this game bc every time theres an event I get about 1/2 way there and never get the characters, makes me never want to play...I love/hate the game 100%...I would rather watch ads and have characters tbh.
@@joottheloser if you're talking about HRE like the current Xybia event, doing the missions and just not wasting energy while getting the ad refresh should unlock her without a problem whatsoever
