I’m insanely shocked how well Niantic adapted CB into the combat system. I really thought that it was either going to be insanely dumbed down to the point it was no longer fun, or it was going to be too complicated for its own good with the limited tap, hold, and swipe system, but they managed to really nail it. CB is my favorite weapon in the series and playing it in Now felt insanely natural, like I just intuitively swiped forward when charging an AED and just assumed that would charge the shield, and it just worked. The fact they managed to make it feel so natural with a completely different control scheme is just astounding to me.
I was thinking the same even when I was shooting ideas in older videos brainstorming how they could of executed adding CB to the game. They really overhauled my expectation.
Additionally, if you swipe down in the windup for an SAED, you will instead cancel it into an AED, which is far safer, but doesn't deal as much damage. There's also a guard point at the end of the roundslash that can be performed after the main 3 hit combo, doing a charged double slash, or charging up your shield.
Despite starting out as a rank 5 weapon, I’m surprised how much it takes advantage of max element with phial damage. It’s really rewarding…aaand, I’m scared it’ll see some sort of nerf. Time to get in while the gettings good!
I've played roughly 3000 hours of charge blade over a bunch of monster hunter games, but CB in this game made me feel like i was just picking up the weapon for the first time again.
The shortcut input is kinda tricky haha! After the shield thrust (swipe up) you can skip to AED but now you have to tap and hold then swipe up to cancel the AED and transfer the phials into the shield. Super complicated haha!
@@PauwerPlaysI found an easier way is to go into axe mode and hold down to go into the AED, you can then just swipe up to cancel it. The shield thrust isn't needed
@@PauwerPlaysI’m still getting the hang of it, but I’m sure we all are. Sometimes I do an overhead axe swing instead of a shield charge…yea. Not great after hitting Rank 8 hunts. But man, when everything comes together smoothly and you pull off a manual SAED to finish the hunt. It feels so good!
Charge Blade is a very technical weapon, so I don’t use it much in mainline titles but it is fun once you get into it. Appreciate the advice. Made my hunts with it more smoothly in Now.
Just wanted to send a huge THANK YOU for this video. Super easy to understand and extremely helpful. I was loosing my head over why my G8 Jagras Escudo wasn't doing proper damage to 8* monsties (my water build has lvl5 ELEMENTAL damage bonus). I forged the Jyuratodus CB and now I can hunt some 7* monsties with my G5 CB xD (still upgrading it of course). Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love dual Blade by the fact that they are easy and deal a lot of damage, but I also wanted to try Charge Blade. Now I know how to start and what to do. Thank you :D
main series charge blade main here: I'm glad they kept a lot of the functionality of the weapon from main series. The weapon sounds complex but in reality has a very simple gameplay loop: attack is sword mode and occasionally reload, guard point -> AED or SAED depending on your window. Once in a while you cancel the AED to charge your shield. That's all you need to use the weapon, you can get a lot more than that but you don't have to if you are careful.
@@PauwerPlays well obviously MHnow is a different game so you have to AED not only out of counters. but in it's simplest form the safest way to AED is to use counters.
I mastered it in World, and I'll master it in Now We lost the sliding attacks and charging the blade but they did a awesome job for a mobile game 👏🏻 I want to get the Deviljho CB or Zinogre, I want to go full power
Definitely the weapon I'm most interested in but just started playing a couple of days ago. Will stick to dual blades until I'm more accustomed to the game overall then figure all of this out! Thanks for the vid will definitely be using it later :)
Salamat po sa guide! I've been trying out the weapon, and just like the lance at the start, it's taking me some time to get the hang of it. It's a very technical, even punishing, weapon indeed! Hopefully I'll get used to it eventually!
Now they need to add Arena where we can hunt back to back with minimal gain for progress but still enjoy and practice with our load outs. Or even a testing area would be good for now.
one thing to note: this weapon is insanely OP as of now so make sure to use it before it get nerf. despite the weapon being complicated and punishing, there are LOTS of wiggle room compared to main series. you can hold AED/SAED animation by simply hold your finger and you can cancel it by dodging. its powerful then LS, its mental!
Oh so I can't charge the sword or axe mode. It was driving me crazy trying to figure that out. Also now I know how to go axe mode after thrust so thanks. I didn't see you mention if I can charge the shield during that animation though. But I'll figure it out.
Apparently my block and counter build for sword and shield build transferred well to charge blade RN now I'm rocking Diablos Wall 😂 with my original build but with odogaron arms instead of rathians to transform and unshealth faster (my block couner build has offensive guard and firm footing which makes me literally have almost no knock back if anything with this weapon along with raising tide and critical eye)
@@PauwerPlays when so far I'm only able to take down the one black diablos 😭 as soon as I get my great girros sw&sh overgraded I should be abled to hunt them easier
Is there a guard point at the end of the "transfer charge to shield" animation? I'm sure I blocked something with it at one point but its much harder to guard with due to it being at the end of an animation instead of the start
Wait, so basically when you play CB with impact philes you should have lock on to focus on aiming into head to deal KO damage… But with elemental it doesn’t really matter right?
The charge blade can benefit from a lot of skills depending on your playstyle. For damage, you can got for element if your cb has elemental phials and add either burst or offensive guard. If it has impact phials, you can add slugger to get KOs using the AED playstyle. Totally up to your style :)
Sounds like Lance. Seems neat, but way to complicated to dish out while also timing dodging. I'm often a car passenger so can't 100% focus on the game, just nabbing what I can at stoplights. Easier to just bash the heck out of it with DB and be able to maneuver for last minute dodge if needed, plus the special usually does a break. I do still run LS but have mostly moved away from SnS because I wasn't really blocking because you really need more dps and the jump is easy to whiff. I also don't like how you tumble way back at the special finish, so if you broke something you have to run back to the monster. I feel like DB is going to get a nerf.
i dunno mate; Longer i'm practicing, harder it becomes. trying to focusing on SAED, but i keep failing timing getting pwned. i guess AED is much safier then SAED. it's quite an hard weapon to use, even at 200+ hunts (i know, those are not that much, but still better then 10 or less hunts)
@PauwerPlays what I mean is like In world, you're able to charge the sword then deal extra damage. There's no way to empower your faster attacks outside of axe mode
I can't do the SAED after blocked. I've tried swipe up right after blocked, swipe up when blocking, tap right after blocked. all are failed. my shield is charged. need help here 🖐️
@@PauwerPlays thank you for responding. After I try several times, I still failed to do it with swipe up. however, I've succeeded several times by tap + hold right after blocked. not sure why it's different from you
For now, i think its an L. Charge blade has slow strike and it might be inconsistent with paralyzing the monster. Its better to output a lot damage fast with SAED than wait for the para
For element, stick to maximizing elemental damage. You can choose to add quick work or guard depending on your playstyle. For raw, im testing offensive guard right now
They will nerf it 🤣 Also in my opinion it should give us a dummy for practice. Further more should put a place where the items which we delete to transform into heals or zennis ... How it sounds?
You can shield charge when you transform from axe to sword if you have phials charged. When shield is charged you can do powerful phial explosions call SAED. thats the most important reason why you charge the shield
Can you do a video on the new skills, specifically the status sneak attack when it's lvl 5 its says guaranteed status effect so will it be stuned forever for example 4 players with girros sns attacking from behind + sneak attack on lvl 8 girros sns would be crazy right? Well for now status sneak attack can only be build up to lvl 4 but thats still a high percent chance on inflicting status effects, or how about 2 players with girros sns then 2 with sleep sns will the monster still wake up? Well its just my theory if you could recreate it it would be a fun video thanks
Same here, I've watched this tutorial thrice instead of my hunter doing the spinning slash to charge up my shield after a full phials, she ends up rolling forward.
Yeah there is corrupted field areas. Click on a monster in an area like that and it may appear instead. Seems like a luck chance. It's kinda like ditto showing up instead of the Pokemon you clicked on. It may be worth paintballing if you're not sure you can do it. I don't know if it disappears or goes back to map if you fail.
@PauwerPlays I might have to knuckle down and give it another try in World. If I can finally make sense of it in a real MH game it might transfer over to Now. Maybe.
Just remember that in sword mode, the most important move is the charge attack. While holding the input you can swipe up or down and stuff will happen haha! Swipe down to load the phials and swipe up to switch into axe mode
