Great video! I’m shocked at how few reviews there are of the Canon 400mm Lens. I myself have the original Non-IS 400mm Lens. It’s super super super heavy, comes in more of a trunk than a case but it’s a great lens.
I have the non IS one too which I bought very cheaply and I love it : the optics are so amazing although it's hard to carry around but I bought a Cotton Carrier harness which spreads the load nicely making it fairly manageable
POTN! I started in that forum almost 15 years ago. This or the 300/2.8 have always been my dream lenses. That football sample photo is so sharp it's ridiculous.
I had the 400 2.8 about 2 years ago and sold it. Sharpest lens I ever owned. As I transitioned through all of the Tamron and Sigma zooms, I realized I need to go back to a sharp prime lens so I purchased another 400 2.8 non I/S yesterday for $2400, and can't wait to get it. Nice video thanks for sharing.
Just got this lens, excellent condition, in the suitcase, with keys booklet, etc... locally for $2k from a pro photographer. Looking forward to using it for field sports and track.
I bought a used 400mm f2.8 IS 10 years ago for $4200. Best investment I have made. I recently switch to a 400mm F4 IS DO II. 1/3 the weight of this, 70% the weight of a 400mm f2.8 IS III.
You can take fantastic photos photos if you are at the right time and right place and the advantage you have in your country is LIGHT and here in Uk the LIGHT is not the same and most Days here in Uk is either raining or cloudy or a day when is sunny
Even cheaper option is the original non IS version which is very cheap, great optics but very heavy at 14 lbs or 6.5kg Also that filter does not take a circular polariser , you need a different one with a scroll wheel on it : Canon PL-C 52WII 52mm Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter
Thanks for the video. Great photos and the lens really is crazy sharp! I´m debating getting it but am put off by it´s lack of IS. Of course, the IS versions are much more expensive.
Hi is this 40mm is mk1 version ? also what would it be in £ uk pounds and what to look out for ? i did use 400mm non f2.8 before was good but pretty heavy so is the is version alot lighter?
I am looking for a good deal now on the 400 2.8. Is IQ comparable among the ver 1, 2 and 3? I am not concerned with weight. I purchased your LUTs - using them with my 1DXII, R5 and C200.
I just bought a mint used 400 F2.8 IS version 1 and I love it! I would love to see a comparison as far as image sharpness between the version 1,2 and 3. Is the sharpness that much better then the version 1? I use mine for surf photography so I like the extra weight to combat the wind on the beach.
That's something I've tried to look for, it seems there aren't exactly a lot of people making the comparison. The comparisons I've seen basically just talk about how much of a weight difference there is.
@@maciekukasiewicz6726 It's not the cheapest 400 f2.8 as the video maker claimed. The 2 non IS versions are cheaper used of course, and I think there are manual focus Nikons.
I have the 400mm f2.8 II, no IS, wonderful, apart from the weight! I don't know if the IQ has changed much over the years, but the IS and weight reduction would be a godsend.
Hi , do you or anyone on here have any experience with the 400mm MK 1 adapted to a Sony A9 or A7 series? Particularly for sports / fast focus needs. I desperately need a 400mm but the Sony is prohibitively expensive
