I've been playing bass for 47 years now, and I enjoy Ellen and her Dad's videos so much. I started playing at 17 and Ellen already plays rings around anything I could do at 17. This beautiful little girl has a very bright musical future ahead of her. Her Dad, who is an excellent musician in his own right, is guiding her beautifully every step of the way.

As for the bass, it sounds way better than the price would lead you to believe. Love that bass clef shirt on the doctor!! LOL! Dad almost caught a shot in the face at the end there! Funny story. I got my first guitar from a neighbor who gave it to me on Independence Day. I was holding it sitting next to his father when someone shot off a really loud firework in the back yard. I jumped and the guitar headstock hit the dad in the mouth and chipped his tooth!! That was probably around 1970 when I was around 10 years old! Thanks for popping that memory into my head. Hey, Ellen ... Even though I am old enough to be your grandfather (or great grandfather maybe), I still admire the progress you make day by day. You just keep getting better and better. Today, on this base, you did something that I have been waiting for ... you played every single note perfectly in tune! I have noticed that on basses with a long neck, it is hard for you to reach or the distance you have to move you left hand is too far to play so fast. So, then the note you play is close, but not always "spot on" and in tune. Today was it was a thrill to listen to you to play. You are really getting up to speed. You might even want to stick with something close to this size for a while. Congratulataions on a magnificent job. "Grandpa John" Big hugs from me.

At just $110, Glarry is going to sell a thousand of these little basses solely on the basis of this one review. Ellen and Hovak will be coming back very soon for another, somewhat larger bass, and they're going to ask for something really special! Meanwhile, Ellen's playing just gets better and better. Hi to al of you! I played the bass for 10 years off my life, from Jazz-Rock to nearly every stile, but you impressed me a lot more then anyone in the bass world. You could play at your age in any band on this planet. Great thanks to your father, parents too. Keep on posting! Thank you.

Great overview Hovak, and demonstration Ellen! Definitely a good starter for a child, and the price is reasonable! On edit, I just re watched her doing the demo again, and the size of that bass seems to be exceptionally comfortable for Ellen's personal playing style!

Still can't realize what the long scale is for! I started mastering the bass when I was about 13. And there was a bass with a scale shorter then another one I tried. And it was very comfortable and light. So I liked that guitar very much. And later when the lease of that short bass was up I bought another one with a long scale. It was shock! I cried experiencing great difficulties and dreamed of something shorter. And a couple of weeks ago I came across your channel. I saw such a pretty lady playing the bass I dreamed of 40 years ago! It seems comfortable to me even now when I am 50. Ellen go on!!! You play the best instrument on Earth!

Ellen can play. But the most beautiful thing is her smile and how much she enjoys playing. And the support of dad of course. I never played bass guitar but when I see her I wanna try. Btw. I'm 60 years old.

After the loss of my mum before 3 years ago, i had a bad luck and difficulties i had and still have to go through. I really had bad thinkings passing through my tired mind. Today i received a gift as i found Ellen's videos. The bright light that is coming through her beauty, gave me a lesson to realise what a miracle our life is. I have a rare short scale Gibson SG bass. I hope sometime you come in Kefalonia Greece for summer vacation where you can stay in my house where my mum used to live and now it is empty, for free. I will be very happy if i see this amazing beautiful gifted angel playing with my SG bass. It is an open invitation if you like to come for relaxing summer holidays here in Kefalonia. I will fix the bass hoping sometime Ellen come to make it sound again. I will try make a video so you can see it. My best wishes to you Ellen princess and your lovely dad. Congratulations to both of you.

Glarry has a decent reputation. The body shape reminds me of a Washburn Taurus or, on the higher end, Warwick Fortress. Both had the exaggerated upper horn which made them extremely well balanced basses when on a strap. Proof positive that with a proper setup you don't need to break the bank to have a very playable instrument.

Definitely worth that price with that sound quality. I'm a guitar player and it would seem worth it to me, to buy it even for home recording purposes. Love the father/daughter interactions between you two. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world and thank you for sharing this product info. ✌️☮️

As a Tuba player who's always despised the bass guitar (long story), Ellen's story actually makes me consider giving it a try.

I saw you struggling learning a Bootsie Collins song, but my computer would not let me comment. I commend you for the effort to not give up. , playing with others, you will often play with people who do not practice. When this happens on stage, you cannot stop and restart the song. When you practice, make your mistakes, sometimes, just keep playing. This is an important skill I have found in some of the bass players I have with. Your new bass sounds so cool! You look comfortable wit it. A new tool in your tool box! I remember Tina Weymouth had a collection of basses and was particular about which one she wanted to record each song.

I’m a drummer, a percussionist, although I haven’t been able to play since I was in a severe accident in 1971, my senior year of high school, while on spring break in Daytona. But, for drummers, once a drummer always a drummer. I’m so impressed with Ellen…and with the way she’s handled by her dad. Good job! I have a 36 year old son, who’s also a percussionist, by the way, who was in rock bands as well as marching and orchestral in school. Ellen, keep listening to your dad. I’ve got to ask, is your mom a musician also? Thanks guys, I love your music, Rodney Davenport, 2/2/1953.😊

I Love Ellen! She's absolutely adorable! I'm a drummer and my two sons are not at all musically inclined. I'd love to jam with Ellen - she totally rocks! Just subscribed to the channel.

This little girl is fantastic. 👍 I don't play any instrument, but I have listened to a big variety of music, each and every day of my life. If was not watching this video but only listening to the music, I wouldn't have thinking that something is odd or wrong with that bass sound. It's unbelievable that somebody can make that instrument so cheap.
