Luke From South Australia, love to see UD one day Seen UthaibThani and Nakhon Sawon and enjoyed the regional experience more than tourist cities, im 47
Everything in this link is from Udon Thani back in Vietnam war days & it might bring back some memories. There are still some old boys from then who retired here around & the still meet meet up for their VFW. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P463feJh13Y.html
Spent 14 months there (March 1975 - May 1976) with the U.S. Navy. Closed a great facility at Ramasun Station. Wonderful people, and low prices on fine jewelry. Would love to see Udorn once again.
Lived in Udon Thani for 4 months. Had a great new 3 bedroom house for $ 400 a month. But it is boring and food options are very limited. Unless you want to eat Thai food all the time. ( I do not) I left due to being bored. Flying to BKK too much.
Inspiring stuff. Jason, you mentioned some friends who taught English there. Could I ask what their general feeling about living/teaching Eng in Udon Thani is? (Im an Australian teaching in Phnom Penh and am planning my next move-UT sounds like it could be somewhere a bit more quiet , peaceful and different but with good food!).
Thank you Penh Dog! My mates I met from the UK don’t actually teach English in Udon but it’s in a town a few hours away from Udon. Sorry about that! UT could definitely be a good place for you and I would suggest perhaps checking out some of the expat forums/groups of UT on Facebook and there may be somebody who can answer that for you. Cheers 👍
@@JasonsJourney Hey Jason! Thanks so much for your quick reply!A town a few hours away is interesting also.Yea, it looks like a good place if you're looking a for some quiet and have a dog but also some modern conveniences etc. That's good advice. Enjoy the next step in your journey!
