My grandmother was born in 1890. When I was young she told me she started using vaseline on her face as a young woman. She passed at age 75 with NO wrinkles on her face. Staying out of the sun was a big factor but the use of vaseline I believe gave her that smooth, gorgeous skin. I have been subscribed for a while because I positively love your tell it like it is when it comes to not over spending on skin products. This blew me away that you are recommending something my grandmother knew about over 60 years ago.

I've always used Vaseline for my lips and to take eye makeup off. I've never understood the hype around other products. I guess I'm cheap. It became kind of a joke with my daughters because I never went anywhere without my little jar of Vaseline. I kept it at my bedside for dry lips. I'm glad to know that what I did for years being cheap was actually the best treatment. Who knew?

I use the generic version - petroleum jelly. Petrolatum. It’s even cheaper and it’s the EXACT same thing. I also love petroleum based balms and ointments. Aquafor, cerave, and cetaphil all have amazing versions. Even aveeno has a wonderful baby balm that’s mostly petroleum jelly. My favorite is A+D ointment, and that includes lanolin. The lanolin might be an allergen for some people, but for those who tolerate it, it’s the best. A+D makes the most difference in my skin.

I love this! When I was a kid in the 70’s, my minimalist mom had a bottle of shampoo, a bar of ivory soap and a tub of Vaseline in the bathroom. Who knows where I got it but, at 9 or 10 years old I was totally into primping and pampering. That tub of Vaseline was my what I had to work with, lol. Lots of Vaseline face masks for me. 😂 Now I love the CereVe healing ointment just a little bit more than Vaseline (but it’s still great) Have a beautiful day! 💕

There was this lady that had to have eye surgery to remove the oils and she almost lost her eyesight. I use a cold cream to remove my makeup it also removes waterproof makeup. Great show. I’ve used Vaseline as my main skin care product for at least 20 years. It’s superb for all the reasons you’ve explained. The one way I need to be careful with it is to not use on too much of my body at one time. It occludes the cells from breathing for a short time so I overheat it I apply it all over without care. My face is mostly without wrinkles at the age of 69. Much to be grateful for. Thanks for sharing the wisdom. ❤️

My wonderful father lived to be 94. He spent a lot of his life in the sun. When he was 5 years old, he was picking tobacco from his grandfather's tobacco fields. He also spent his life enjoying a variety of sports that kept him outside a good amount, even in his 80s. One thing that he swore by was Vaseline. He said it really made a big difference to his skin, and said that he thinks it better than anything else. Vaseline is not a moisturizer, but it will certainly help keep your skin looking young because it is a barrier. I will definitely keep Vaseline as a staple for my skin.

Long-term and repeated use of Vaseline in the nose can, in rare circumstances, cause a severe lung problem known as exogenous lipoid pneumonia. When it's applied to the inside of the nostrils, it usually drains down the back of the nose with normal nasal secretions. Then it is swallowed. 😳😬 So use VERY rarely in/under nose if at all just fyi..

@@JasminMiettunen true. I could use on face, neck, ears and petrolatum around the eyes. Thank you! 😊

I had always used Vaseline on my lips. Not too long I watched a commercial on skin care where a dermatologist said not to use it. Her reason was because it comes from the bottom of oil barrel. I didn’t think it was true but I did stop using it just in case. I’m glad she was wrong about Vaseline

Petrolatum is an oil byproduct, but that does make it bad. Water can also come from the bottom of a swamp, but most skincare products contain water, and we drink it. Whete it comes from doesn’t make the ingredient bad. They obviously make sure they’re clean and safe to use when selling to people.

she was not wrong. why on earth can't you people do some basic research on a product? nowadays it is SO easy to get profound information. just start googeling and read through the papers. and I would not recommend putting something like vaseline in your face. urgh. very bad YT clip here.

@@juu2356 you're wrong. Vaseline has been used for many many years and it works wonders. Are you a dermatologist? I don't think so.

I feel like kicking myself! I had Vaseline in my makeup drawer and I threw it out ! ( luckily is very cheap…) I will buy another tub for sure

I didn’t like Vaseline or petroleum jelly until I found ultra white refined petroleum jelly. It is so much better than usual yellow Vaseline.

Love the vid. HOWEVER the only time I developed milia was when I used vaseline as an under eye substitute. And then I was stuck in long lockdown with the darned milia. YMMV.

I starting using aquaphor about 10 years ago at night on my eyes for a rash and it worked so well that I kept using it at night. Is Vaseline better than aquaphor?

So for years people were using Vaseline for things and then doctors began telling everyone and it was a magazine etc. how Vaseline is so bad for you as she doesn’t moisturize your lips etc. etc. that she dries up your lips etc. etc. And now we’re back to Vaseline is OK to use.

I used vaseline on my face for years until one of my acquaintances mocked me and said I need to use quality beauty products. About a week before seeing this video, I started using it again. I love to use it on my face, neck & chest when I'm home and won't be wearing makeup.

your acquaintance is wrong. High priced products are a scam and do the same things as cheaper products, they're all the same.

That’s strange to hear that she said that. I worked for a dermatologist and that’s all they used after biopsies etc..for wound care. Other derms have said the same for years. It’s been in my life for 56 years and my skin hasn’t had an issue yet. ☺️
