When I started watching this play, I thought that the role of Lophakin is played by Christian Bale but I was confused. But when I googled it, I was shocked, as it was him. 😮 1:59:45
Just heads up, the Closed Captions seem to stop after 21:42. If you don't want to fix it then it would be best to just take the captions off. I was able to get a copy of the script so I could follow along, but most people watching I doubt would have it. Other than the captions everyone did a great job! Glad we still got to see it even with the coronavirus happening!
When I read a play, my imagination creates images of the story. When I see a play in a theatre, images of my imagination are destroyed cruelly, by the actors and acresses.
I think this was an admirable effort, but the performances left me wanting. A bit too much yelling instead of passionate delivery. I know one has to project their voice on stage in a theatre, but the delivery of so many lines with so much strident yelling didn't feel convincing, to be frank very little of it did, and it just sounded very irritating. Anyway, those are just my personal criticisms. Still a wonderful play.
