We added on to the Louisiana chicken coop cages once again. Now the Isbars (chickens) now have a new home of their own. I had a request from Lori asking how to build the cage doors. I explain it in this video.
I like that you not only show the "how" but you explain the "why" as well. Good video Joe. Hopefully you are as thorough when you finally tackle your cabin project. I know there are a lot of viewers who appreciate the time you put in to sharing your experiences.
+HAFFT1ME Thank you for the nice comment. When I do the new cabin I will for sure be doing videos on it. I like it when people ask to know a certain thing so I can explain that because if I explained everything I think the people would find the video long and boring. I always struggle with that because if I myself watch my video and want to click through it I know everyone else is going to be bored.
+NorthernSeclusion Don't worry about your vids being boring because they are not . Long vids are great because you go into detail in how you do things which is one of the reasons why I like watching your vids . Your construction videos help a lot of people and give us some great ideas . I hate it when people build things and don't show how they did it . Long with details is the way to go Joe . Nice job you did there .
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else is searching for how to build a tool coop try Coop Magic Tactic (just google it ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my mate got great success with it.
Wish I watched this video BEFORE I 'knocked' my two runs together. Oh well; next one will be improved greatly by tips picked up here, thanks for taking the time to make this movie!
I just found this channel, I love this, simple instructions and beautiful scenery. Love the snow videos, I have subscribed so I can go back and watch the videos I have missed.
Thank you for showing us how you're making your setup, Joe. My husband is making our brooder box this weekend for 20 standard Cochin chicks coming from MurrayMcmurray on May 6th. The next job (which I'm researching on RU-vid) will be the coop, automatic feeder & waterer, and whatever else we'll need for when they're older. My main concern is the coyote population; based on all the howling I hear from time to time (& yipping puppies a couple months ago), I'd say we have quite a few & they're close.
Nice coop and clear instructions. I might add a latch for the door on the bottom or mid bottom as well. I have found that if predator wants in they test the bottom of a door pretty severely. Especially racoons. I have latches top and bottom and don't use bottom one in daytime but do when I put the birds to bed at night.
Wow Joe you make that look so easy but I think I can do it I was a good little student and wrote down measurements, of course I will most likely watch this video a few more times lol you need to live close to me so I can just have you build it for me lol thank you again Joe, the coops are awesome !
+Lori cook Thank you Lori. The doors are not that hard to do they are just a pain in the butt because there are so many little things to do before its finished. Just keep it nice and square and you should be fine.
Hey neighbor, have you considered th rolling henhouse, that has 2 Axles? This henhouse is built light weight enough, that 2 people can push it around, through th pastor. Th chickens will eat all grasses down to th ground, & then you can move it to another location, to keep th good flavored eggs coming in.
Nice job, easy to follow. But I'd be worried someone or something would bump that coop, the door would latch, and I'd be locked inside the coop, lol.. That latch on the top that just slips down.. Nope.. Just inviting Murphy's Law to have a bit of fun with you. hehehe
Do you find a benefit in the triangle door supports vs the door supports that fit into the frame of the door from hinge bottom side to top non-hinge side?
+jackson kristoff The treated lumber will last a very very long time, you have to deal with some warping but if you build the whole structure in a short amount of time vs taking a month to build the whole thing once its all tied together the warping is minimal and you have a life long coop. Thanks Jackson. Joe
Wow that is awesome and gives me some great instruction as I am just starting to build my chicken coop I live up in Manitoba Canada and have 6 chickens and live out in the Riding Mountain area North west of Winnipeg. I look forward to watching more of your videos and thank you for posting.
Hello, I just retired from the Army and I live in Minnesota. I could really use some help with questions I have about keeping chickens in the winter. How do you keep the water from freezing, and how do you keep your coop warm enough? thanks in advance.
hello! i like your chicken coop, i was wondering how much do you spend every time that you expand? can you also tell me the dimension of the chicken coops? thanks very much and great job
Hi I really like your videos and I'll be building a chicken coop soon, one question on how you figure the angles from front to back of the coop to get that drain off the back. So I can cut consistent boards thank you
