The chill debrief after our Citizen Sleeper 2 Actual Play

I absolutely loved this over most other actual plays because it felt like normal people playing a game very well instead of performers earning a paycheck. I know there's room for both and I'm happy both exist, but this one's for me.

I absolutely LOVED this session! Definitely follow the things that are exciting you in the moment, but more Actual Play one-shots like this would be a real treat!

I really enjoyed you guys taking the time to discuss what the actual-play element was like for you all. It reminded me of a comment on the main video where somebody said it’s interesting to see how you play at home and how that informs Quinn’s Quest reviews, but it’s also useful to know where you feel this experience differs.

yall did such a great job telling such an interesting mini story! i wishlisted the citizen sleeper games, the world is super cool, im sold on all the game design Gareth hinted at in talking about their game, and the screenshots/trailer look great

Loved this actual play so much! Apart from the amazing skill of all partecipants, being able to paint a world with such few strokes and create characters that I now want to see a whole backstory of is incredible. And damn, is the Citizen Sleeper universe SO GOOD! I'd love to see how you adapted the CBR+PNK system for this world, I'd like to give it a try!

APs should be an at least semi-regular fixture of this channel! Won’t blame you if you make them Patreon-exclusive, itd be worth it

Excellent job everyone. If you had ran this without telling anyone you've never ran 'actual play' then I would wholeheartedly believe you had been doing so for years. Never heard of Citizen sleeper either, going to check it out!

"Some people who've been stepped on just want to step on other people" reminded me of my personal belief/headcanon that Maywick, from the first Citizen Sleeper game, is himself a sleeper.

This is so damn cool and you're the most pleasant GM I've ever watched play a TTRPG. Im also not much into Actual Play, maybe for the same reasons as you, or maybe not. Maybe I don't enjoy the excesive theatricallity of the ones I saw or maybe I wasn't a fan of the approach on many of the channels I watched. Perhaps it makes me overthink how I'm gonna play in the future. That being said, I loved your approach and the players were also fantastic. What a source of inspiration. Cheers!!!!

So true about roleplaying old people, I'm like three years older than the rest of the players in my group so I am automatically type cast as a 55+ divorcee in every game

I really enjoy the gimmick of the main line videos and think they're great, but the AP and this debrief were so satisfying to me. I think you nailed it with the initial scene setting monologue and it dragged me right back to that initial play through of Citizen Sleeper in terms of vibes. I thought the pacing and pitch of the scenes was excellent and all the players really did bring their A game as you said. Gareth, I love that the metaphor of the sleeper was unintended, but I don't think you need to worry about it being over egged, it sits perfectly with me. I definitely agree about being the past being so instrumental in where you are and there's nothing you can do about that from here being a universal thing. I really hope that you consider this a huge success for both Quinn's Quest and JOTA, and I'd absolutely love to see more of this format to see a more dynamic take on what the games you review are like "in the flesh" and also I can't wait until CS2! ❤

the experiment might've been nerve-wracking, but the result was great :) the players had a great energy between each other, Quinn was fantastic in adapting the world of Citizen Sleeper, and the system you chose lent itself well to this short, fast-paced narrative style. I don't know how feasible it'd be to do it with other systems so frictionlessly, since many are more complicated than this, but I'd certainly watch 1-3 episodes' worth of whatever you review! also, to echo a commenter in the main video, I think watching Quinn DM helps to better understand some of the points he's made in past reviews, so to at least have this experience as a one-off was also a great choice 🫡

The saddest part about this is I would love to have this level of experience at the table but I know I'll never be able to GM as well as Quinns and won't be able to draw this out of my players. No matter what system I'm using. Lovely to watch though.
