The wolf statue with the two babies underneath it is a famous statue based on the myth of how Rome was founded: twin brothers called Romulus and Remus were abandoned as babies due to their father technically being Mars, god of War, and were saved by divine intervention by the Roman gods, and nursed by a she-wolf. To keep a long myth short, when they grew up, Romulus would go on to found the city of Rome.
Longtime fan, and just wanted to say the Dixie Highway series has been my favorite thing you’ve done, which is high praise considering how much I love the channel.
During these insane times of politics and covid, i for one, am glad for these videos. Love back roads, old businesses and homesteads. Those blue skies make me happy. Been miserably grey here in Ohio. Glad you got your rest. Drive safe.
Dent Meyers made sure i was comfortable looking at metal detector magazines in his store back in the 80s.Just seemed happy i liked looking at his antiques and books.
This road trip has been really interesting, & very fascinating. I hope someone can give you more information about the Human Bunny. I would have liked to have seen the gardens when they were blooming with color years ago. Looked really neat! The glass house was unique with all the mirrors. The walkway was neat too! Glad you were able to take a break & get some much needed rest. Have a nice day. Be careful.
It was the leave the hate outside sign on the door for me. 🤣 Welcome back Jacob!!! You know what I like seeing? The old gas stations. I wish they would restore them. I don't know why I love seeing them so much. Lucifer liquor was interesting. 🤣 Wish you could have went inside just to see. If they were still using the train as the restaurant, that would be so dope!! Paradise Garden was very interesting to see. I wonder how many people are keeping all the stuff up. Thanks for another great journey Jacob!!
The statue of the wolf with the babies depicts the Myth of Romulus and Remus, the Twins that legends say founded Rome Italy. I really love how the Train station was restored and Repurposed into a Hotel. More historic buildings need to be preserved.
I was gonna mention the Romulus and Remus myth, but I see someone beat me to it. The most interesting thing about this particular statue, to me at least, is the fact that it came from Mussolini.
That Ellis restaurant sign reminds me of The Houston in Mason, OH...not far from Kings Island and was a staple of special family gatherings of mine for years. It's been around since probably the fifties and they boast a salad bar with over 100 items, and foods similar to what that sign says including frog legs. Going inside is like stepping into a time machine. The last time I visited was in 2019 and heard it was for sale, but no idea what's going on with it now. Crossing my fingers it survives!
On the road again, just can’t wait to be on the road again...Excited for sure but a little disappointed this will be the “soft” leg of the Dixie Highway. Nothing but warm weather, tropical drinks, and palm trees for JCB from here on out.
I absolutely love your videos! If only I were in the USA! I’d love to travel like you do..... I’m an Australian nurse 38.... I’ve been to the USA 8 times to go to Disneyland California and Florida Disney World......I’m so enjoying your trip during this pandemic.....There’s a lot of places in Australia too... but no one that I can see on RU-vid that document it... I love seeing your travels! Xx I’ve just signed up on Patreon too 😀
In the Chicago region we have a restaurant called the choo-choo but right now it’s temporary closed I love that restaurant because the train comes to deliver your food on the table
(15:29) I somehow feel as though it's rare that I get to see Jacob recording a mirror, and also as that helps me a little with that Carpetbagger crossover fanfiction I dream of writing.
OMG.. lol. yes its true about the Big Chicken directions. Anyone needing to go somewhere you tell them how to get there from that restaurant. I haven't been there in several years since i live on the other side of Marietta towards Paulding County. So glad you came to see a part of Mariettas "history " so to speak . =)
You are on fire!!!! 💥💥💥💥This one is hilarious! That motel near the beginning with the office out front and old motel room row out back blows my love for abandonded motels mind!!! Once again much love from ontario Canada....🌞
That statue of the wolf and the boys was Romulus and Remus. They were two twin boys left in the woods to die and a mama wolf supposedly took care of them.
I started to go visit the Wildman's tomb this morning since i had a doctors appointment out that way . Hope you are coming back to Ga for the Hot Wheels event at Six Flags Over Ga
Glad you're back on the road. Really been enjoying your Dixie HWY series. Today's was awesome. Loved seeing Paradise Gardens again. Does the Choo Choo hotel still have their very large train layout there ?
@@TheCarpetbagger wow ! That layout was so cool. Still got my old brochure showing the layout. Seems like all of my childhood is vanishing. World of Illusion gone and last weekend "Roadside America" got auction off piece by piece. Oh "World of Illusion" looked really cool to me in the late 70s.
Wow Jacob I live just a few miles from the Chickamauga battlefield I have been busy and have not been watching your videos daily like I usually do. Glad to see you were near by.
Looks like that Semi really took a wrong turn. Paradise Gardens was an amazing look into a creative mind. Sam's looked awesome . I wonder if the food was just as creative? That statue was a very interesting but appropriate gift based on a myth . Love all the road side signs. Interesting stories as well. Hope you had a good rest and wonderful time with your family. That looks like an interesting snack. Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Romulus and Remus were twin brothers raised by wolves. They are the legendary founders of Rome. Romulus went on to kill Remus. This statue is basically the symbol of Rome, the Roman Republic, the Roman Empire, etc...
I heard a story that the Big Chicken beak and eyes were shut down for a while because the place vibrated so much, they were worried about the building collapsing... Good to see it in motion again!
Longtime watcher of you and adam the woo! I never have commented before! But I have most awesomely enjoyed this Dixie highway journey! Love seeing old gas stations and buildings of the past! I'm Ronnie and located in the very northeast of tn. ( Kingsport). Keep rockin !!!
Idk if anyone got to this yet, probably have.. but Nelle's friend Human Bunny was her stuffie. She had him all her life and was buried with him, of course. And he wasn't the size of a person... he was just a stuffed toy bunny.
Hello Jacob I hope you're having a wonderful day ..be safe out there and thank you so much for bringing us all of this good stuff! You are sincerely living my dream job ..I've always wanted to travel around and see all the cool stuff especially the back roads stuff and you have probably taken me places I would have never ever in my life ever seen so thank you so much for your sacrifice from your family and for your persistence to keep going and for visiting so many cool places.God bless!
