thank you so much for your awesome analysis mate ! :) i am studying chord progressions and circle of fifths, key signatures and and anything else to do with music theory while applying music theory to all my favourite late 50's, , 60's, and 70's rock n roll music ! and this helps me out alot in understanding what is going on. so thank you so much for all your help ! you're a wonderful teacher :)
Wow! So glad the RU-vid algorithm gods led this video and your channel to my attention. I had so much trouble getting through it as I had to keep pausing and reaching for my guitar. I actually love the key of B on guitar. Once you get over the compulsion to play "all' the strings "all' the time, it is actually one of the easiest keys to play and improvise in on guitar. A bit like C minor on piano. Ergonomic and the notes just seem to fall under my fingers. Main feature being the open top strings, being tonic and perfect 4th. PS. I went to subscribe and found I was already. Will have to look at more of your stuff as I find your style and explanation very helpful. Thank you.
I've spent much of my life trying to hear, understand, write and perform music of this style. 5 semesters of theory and a very few YT videos of training & I'm starting to see results. Thank-you, Tim!
Nobody does this kind of analysis like you do. It thrills me to watch and understand the theory that underlies what happens in my heart and head with the progressions--especially coupled with the lyrics.
Amazing instruction. So happy to have found you and your work Tim. Wisdom and insight just drops effortlessly from you, even when you said "key of B has a more relaxed timbre than C" for me that just rings so true but I never had the wherewithall to articulate it to myself. ;-)
Great analysis especially the harmony at the end. Love the simplicity of the melody stacking into itself. b7 and iv are two of the most awesome chords in rock, and the Beatles employ them perfectly in In My Life.
Excellent video! Thanks for making these. I appreciate you including the I, ii, iii etc notation (since i don’t play piano). Helps me connect the theory dots better. Ps Gorgeous acapella at the end.
Great stuff! New to your channel & love it. Why don’t you blow all our minds & analyze Brian’s THIS WHOLE WORLD ? You may require a bottle of scotch to assist you, but probably worth the effort. Thanks again for what you’re doing.
I personally am not a huge believer in modes as far as keys of pop songs. Sure a song can be emphasizing a chord other than the one but to me, it is still just a roman numeral of that fundamental. And what is the "clear b7 later," in this case?
