The story of Star Wars is the rise, fall, and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Don’t let Disney ruin that.

As kids we like heroes, as adults we understand villains

The Clone Wars really made Anakin’s fall to the dark side even more depressing then it already was. Now that’s good storytelling.

Everyone saw the fear, anger, and hate. Luke, and probably Ahsoka, were the only ones who also saw the suffering, and refused to give up on Anakin

When Palpatine talked about how Anakin wanted to be more than a simple boy and that he wanted to have a life of "significance," you can see clearly that that was never what Anakin truly wanted. What Anakin truly wanted, what he yarned for above all else...was family. He longed for a father. He wanted to free his mother. His love for Padme was the desire that she would become his family. Obi-wan was a brother to him. Ahsoka, a sister. His reason for wanting Luke to join him was the hope that he could reclaim the shards of the family that he's lost. Everything Anakin has done since becoming a Jedi, even when he fell, was to have a family. And though that love for family may have led to his fall, it was also what helped him rise up again and end Darth Sidious's reign of terror.

“I will even learn to stop people from dying!” This line always gets me Anakin has heart, he wants to save everyone. It’s always warming to see someone dedicating to help others than himself. That’s what makes him special :)

Anakin was truly the Chosen One. Even though he fell to the Dark Side, he truly brought balance to the force by defeating Darth Sidious and saving his son. He lost so much, and deserved so much more. But at least he was with his family, his son, in his final moments. He trained to be a Jedi, became a Sith… But died as the Hero of the Galaxy

Qui-Gon found him. Obi-Wan taught him. Yoda spoke of him. *He's the Chosen One. He will Bring Balance to the Force.* He did by destroying all the Jedi and the Sith. By helping Palpatine and killing him. He was a slave till his son set him free

Everyone should send this to Disney because they clearly forgot who the chosen one really is.

I believe he really heard padmes voice saying “stop, stop now come back, I love you” as the last redemption. Seeing their son in that pain broke their heart.

"Is she alright?" "It seems in your anger you killed her." "I- I couldn't have." This part just carries so much emotion that it brings me to my knees

Palpatine tought he would be safe after killing all the jedi, but he forgot 1.

I love how Qui-Gon was always about trusting instincts. He knew people are generally good and well-meaning. He knew Anakin had a good heart. He simply said, “Follow those instincts.” Don’t complicate it, don’t overthink it. Your deepest feelings already know what’s right or wrong.

Don't know if there will ever be a more tragic story than Star Wars. I can't imagine living through the kind of agony that Anakin Skywalker went through his entire life.

In Episode I: Anakin was a fearful boy. In Episode II: Anakin was an angry young man. In Episode III: Anakin was a hateful man. In episodes IV-VI: He was a suffering old man. “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” -Jedi Master Yoda

Star Wars is really the tragic story of Anakin Skywalker. The greatest villain and the greatest hero.

This video, in the weirdest way, helped me in the darkest part of my life. And here I am returning to it today to reflect on where I was, and how I made sense of my pain through this story. Thank you.

Story of Anakin Skywalker is truly a Shakespearean tragedy. But at the end, he redeemed himself. What I take away from his story is a father's love for his son will always triumph.

How many people shed a few tears while watching this, a tragic story of fall from grace, loss and battle of what's right and what's wrong, then the best redemption arch a character can go through, i loved this, great job

Anakin is the most beautifully, deep and complex character in all of star wars and cinema history. Born without a father, poor, a slave with no hope for the future, taken from his mother, his mother taken from him, fell into forbidden love, feared loss again, fell to darkness, lost his title and gained a new one, destroyed the order he fought for his whole life, lost his wife, lost his friends, lost his children, lost his body and became trapped in a suit which made him suffer constantly and was the fuel for his hatred, comitted terrible acts, met his son and daughter years later and his heart was again moved and awoken, defeated his wicked master who fooled him and saved his son and was redeemed. Beautiful. No one can tell me there is a better star wars character. Anakin's story is fundamentally about what it means to be human. Anakin's redemption story resonates because it tells us all something we desperately want to believe - that no matter what we've done, it's never too late to turn back. It's never too late to learn from your mistakes. It's never too late to stand up, dust yourself off, and turn around. You are never too far gone to change. Vader tells Luke earlier, "It's too late for me, son", yet his last words were "You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right..." It's only too late to change if you have convinced yourself of that very fact. Personally, as a Christian, I relate Anakin's redemption to the idea that none of us are too far gone to be beyond God's forgiveness. We're all flawed, but we aren't lost if we turn and accept God's pardon through Jesus.

This really makes you appreciate Hayden's performance in the prequels. He had the hardest job in Star Wars history. To literally take the most feared character in Star Wars and make him the hero in one movie and then the next he was asked the turn him into the most feared character again. He handled the anakin to Vader transition like a pro to me

Star wars started with Anakin. It should've ended with Anakin.

The real tear jerker here is that Qui Gon never lost faith, even through the dark times

The beginning when Vader was looking off into the distance and young anakins voice playa over his masked face staring off contemplating everything, it brought tears to my eyes. I have always connected to anakin in more ways then I can really say but these movie have always been more to me then just film. It was always there for me. It always gave me an escape and it always reminds me of my mother who showed me Star Wars as a boy and we shared it until she passed. I have some of the best memories when I would take being sick, and my mom knew what was going on but we’d watch Star Wars together and she would make me her Spanish food she always made and we’d just play around and she would tell me stories of what it was like seeing Star Wars in the 80’s in the movies and what it was like to see Vader for the first time. Oh I miss you mamma I love you so much and I will see you again one day

Anybody else kinda mad they are bringing back Palpatine just for Rey to beat him? Don’t disrespect my boy’s arc like that...

Anakin's story is the most tragic in film history.

He never went a day without calling someone master, and in the end his final choice was his own and it was made out of love. He died a free man.

Anakin has a tragic story. He was a slave, he had to leave his mother, train to become a Jedi, deal with his mothers death, train and befriend ahsoka, treating obi wan like a brother, turning to the dark side just to save everyone he loves. Then not using his hate for others to fight as a sith, but using his hate and disgust of what he had become to always kill off all evidence of his past. Anakin was a hero, and in the end he triumphed against the darkness of the sith. Anakin was a good friend, in fact he was the best one

This year. My mother died. My wife left me and took my kids. My family is gone and im alone. This helped me get through tough times. Idk how to explain it, but thank you for helping me when i needed it

Something that was heart breaking to me was when in Rebels when Vader and Ahsoka were fighting and Anakin came back just for that one moment..made me burst into tears. He's still in there, he wants to come back, but he just couldn't. I can't even think of what to say, I'm at a loss for words...it's just heart breaking...

Anakin was about 44 years old when he died. He became Darth Vader at 22 years old. 22 years in the light. 22 years in the dark. Balance to the Force.

But he was no longer the same man he used to be. He became cold, dark, unforgiving, ruthless and feared across the stars and one of the most feared man in the galaxy.The right hand, the puppet of the emperor. A slave of the dark side. For years, his only purpose was only to bring chaos, fear, suffering and death. For he had nothing. No love, no hope and no reason to live. Only serving his master. And punishing himself with anger and hatred towards himself. But... when he heard about his son. He felt something. Something that he forgot many years ago. He felt... hope. And love for his son, through a great sacrifice, he defeated his nightmares and demons. And brought balance back to the force, like he was meant to do. For his entire life, he was a slave. Slave to the Hutts, slave to the Jedi's code and slave to the dark side. But in the end, when looking his son, with his own eyes, he was no longer a slave. He was free. He was called with many names. I love how the clone wars took an already heart-breaking an interesting story and tripled it's complexity and meaning. Every character has their own well developed storyline.
