Sometimes I wish I could have one of those life changing moments. All my life I've never seen or witnessed proof that God is real, just what I have heard from others' experiences. Because of that I've always taken a leap of faith in believing. Whenever I'm having a bad day my parents remind me that someone somewhere is having it worse. I don't always acknowledge it but I am grateful for everything I've been blessed with in this life. There are times when I credit this, not to God, but to others. It's easy for me to get lost in my interest for other traditions and faiths, both Abrahamic and Pagan. My beliefs are both spiritual and universal, but no matter what path I follow, I shall never forget where I came from.

Good defense! We have to remember that the Bible is both God’s Word and a historical text. There were all sorts of things going on in the background that I’d say are up for creative license so long as we never let them influence what the Bible says. This is a hidden principle I think more Christian artists could be made aware of... actually, we don’t have a solid code of ethics for Christian artists or art critics to abide by...

I will be the first to admit, I was sceptical because so many shows / movies seem to have purposely changed scripture and doctrine to get more viewers or money. The Chosen, in developing back stories for the people that Jesus interacted with is not changing scripture or doctrine. Peter fighting is not a stretch, given he cut a man's ear off in the Garden of Gethsemane. Nothing in Mary appearing to get raped would suggest she was a prostitute. Her getting raped is very plausible considering the time, and it was a Roman soldier. When reading the Bible, most forget these were real people, living day to day. They had tooth aches, women had periods, babies got sick, at some point, somebody had diarrhea, etc... Things like this aren't written, but it's common sense to know they had to go to the outhouse. I love this show for making the people written of in the Bible real; without changing scripture.

There are other verses, which talks about her deliverance from 7 evil spirits. What I mean to say is, the portrayal of Mary Magdalene might not be the exact representation. And I remember during one of their interviews that they said, this is a show and they aren't trying to bring a different gospel. The way they have given a backstory adds to the drama of it. Something that people can relate to more. Her deliverance has become significant and it talks volumes to many. There are highlighted miracles written in the scriptures, which does bring a lot of light to our darkest times. The deliverance of Mary Magdalene though not that significant but the portrayal of deliverance is divine. I see God at work through this Multi web series, because most of the movies of Jesus haven't shown everything in detail though some has shown the a part of life of Jesus to an extent, but this Multi web series has done justice in bringing the audience to see the humanity of Jesus, not just His deity side. I mean, its written in the scriptures he was accused of having a party at sinner's house, we have no idea what really was their conversation but His approach to the sinners was nowhere close to Pharisees. There was humour, emotions and we see Jesus who was socializing. Everyone except the hypocrites were attracted to Jesus. There are scenes which brought us to the moment of tension and I binge watched what would be the next though I know what's going to happen For e.g., we read that Jesus hid himself from the Pharisees when they planned to catch him and arrest him, because it wasn't His time. The episode where they paralytic man, the Roman soldiers coming to disperse the crowd brought a lot of tension to the scene. And we see Jesus leaving the place. The director and the actors have brought the emotions well into our hearts. By reading some of the comments, this show has encouraged many to read the Bible. Bro, you should not take to heart that this is against the scripture, it's one's perception on the scripture, at the same abiding in its Word.

I will look into how true to scripture this series is and if it doesn't stray from what is written in the Holy Bible i will buy you a copy my friend. From what I have seen there is a lot added to scripture and i rebuke that but i will do further research.

RollerCoasterLisa Watching Jesus movies works fine for me! I love the Gospel of John movie, and have watched it at least 3 times through the years... Like you and a host of other believers, I live on a fixed income. I gladly gave up Cable and TV over a decade ago. I have no “extra” money for this, although I’ve enjoyed it immensely! I shall be patient and see what I can see of it whenever I can, as God wills...

Carolyn Nunes My husband and I are doing a major renovation in our house and also have a sick animal which is costly. I haven’t watched cable in years. But, adding a costly monthly expense just to be able to watch the entire series seems a bit fishy to me. I’ve watched many movies about Jesus and his disciples. Though they can be inspiring to watch, they don’t offer the best acting or script. The exception would be Franco Zeffirelli’s 1977, Jesus of Nazareth that starred English actor Robert Powell. That was a TV series that was well researched, well written, and offered a substantial cast of experienced and veteran actors. And, the viewers at home didn’t have to pay for it! My point is, The Chosen series would reach many more people (lukewarm believers and non believers) if it didn’t include a fee. I think it’s wrong to try to entice people to pay for it by offering the first episode free. That’s almost as bad as click bait. Any story about Jesus that portrays who he was and what he did should be free for all to watch not a selected few. The gospel is free for all who sincerely seek God. The price was paid by Christ 2,000 years ago. So, no one should have to pay a price to watch and learn about our Lord and Savior. I’m just sharing my feelings about this. God bless. ♥️✝️♥️

You have to think of it from there perspective too. They cannot just do something special just for you and it costs much more money than $20 a month to produce these shows, however harsh that may be. Having the first episode free I think is more than enough. Maybe buy the show when money isn’t so tight. I don’t mean to be harsh, but I think it’s only fair if you see it from their perspective too.

Marcus Andrews Yeah, I was thinking of that as the 4 dvds (episode 1-4) are $39.99 ($40) I will most likely purchase them. That’s about $10 per dvd. Once we get our rec-room renovation completed and furnished, it will be a good time to get these. The new furnishings I selected are new comfy leather recliner couches which will be perfect for watching this series and other quality series and films! I’m looking forward to wrapping up the renovation and being able to enjoy the room. We’ve already gotten our upstairs master bath, guest bath, downstairs laundry room and mud room completed. It all started from an old water leak that turned into mold. So, we decided it was best to just strip the old wood out and renovate everything. In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying episodes 1-4 on the livestream. I’ve now seen them all. God has a way of blessing us when we are patient and desire good things that are of His will. And these streams along with our big renovation and new furniture falls into that category. Now, we just need to have full trust and faith in the Lord in getting the VISA card debt paid off. I believe the more we cheerfully we give back to God in love, He will bless us abundantly. Everything we have is given from God. And we are told to share what we have with others with gladness. I’m looking forward to doing this with our church family in our beautiful new rec-room and the DVD’s series. God is merciful, patient, kind, loving, generous, faithful, understanding, and most of all good. 🙏🏻♥️✝️♥️🙏🏻

OK I just looked him up. He is indeed the same actor. Erick Avari. And he was in two episodes of Law & Order. The one I referred to was "Floater" in 2003. Great show. He also was in one in 1990. I'll have to give him another look. I always liked his work.
