This home is absolutely stunning. I wish I had $35 million to purchase this beautiful home. The guy that designed this is absolutely creative and definitely isn't boring.
The idea of this castle is what I dream Of when it comes to my home. But it’s very small and the inside is tacky for my taste. Castles should Have at least 30-50 ft height ceilings with mouldings columns and at least 4 floors. Give me the haunting interiors that’s what I love
If I become a billionaire, I’d buy this or build something like this. Old world charm will always be more exciting to look at than ultra modern glass and steel houses (which feels like you’re in an office than home).
A house like this can only be the product of obsession. No other psychological trait would endure long enough and deep enough to design and build this house to this level of detail. It must be surreal to walk through it...and it must take a team of 50 people to clean this house in half a week.
Personally knowing Chris , he is the most humble, kind and giving person I’ve ever met. He loves his daughters and made there dream come true …. There is no harm in that. They are also incredibly intelligent, noble and virtuous ladies. I applaud the talent it took to create this archetype with the soul that went along with it.
I have a question. Does it come furnished? It seems like it would be impossible to move furniture in and out of that place. Especially seeing how big and heavy the furniture looks.
Don't mean to sound negative but to my eye this looks like something that belongs in an abandoned Chinese theme park. It's a tasteless and architecturally contrived white elephant that will likely never sell.
Beautiful and horrible at the same time. He will NEVER sell this monstrosity. Why destroy the garage ? There are so many other spaces for a garden - hot tub area. The house would be too hard to live in , which is one main reason it is for sale now.
Wow, thank you! Most of us probably wouldn't have been able to set foot in that house because don't you at least have to get your credit checked and proof of major income to come see the house? Lol.
The tippy top glass area should be accessed not by another spiral staircase, but by a rope ladder which can be pulled up to make it inaccessible to burglars should any break in and the residents have no choice but to go up there for safety. And it would help if the glass itself were bulletproof as well.
Blows my mind with all the Millionaires & billionaires in the world that nobody wants a castle.. how could you not want a castle! to me that's the epitome of wealth is to own a castle ...it's the thing fairy tales are made of. This one is the most perfect I've ever seen even compared to the European one's..
I was thinking that, but maybe because its Connecticut not France. Where you can get the real deal for cheaper. It's kind of like a rich millionaire buying a knock off Prada, wouldn't happen. But yes a decent Vrbo.
@@LOLO-lm7pr Here in France nobody would have buy this. Never. It's not a real castle it's just a millionnaire's fantasy which has absolutely no value at all. In real estate, ultra personnalized homes worth nothing most of the time. It starts really high in price then the price tag shrinks a lot until everybody decides that it never get sold.
A couple of years ago. I was thinking about buying this property. It was actually on Zillow. Was half the price. Passed because its in the middle of nowhere and I probably wouldn't get along with peoole in Connecticut.
I don't understand why people are so taken with this thing? It looks like a weirdo's McMansion with a bunch of stone cladding on the outside. You can't fake a castle. The "castle" elements have no function beyond trying to represent a certain aesthetic. It looks like an upscaled version of a child's playhouse or something from Disneyland.
After going to Disney World earlier this year reminds me of the rides and the Magic Kingdom castle at Disney(my initial thought once I first saw it). A pirate ship in the lake would be the perfect touch to the castle! As they were talking once they met at the door and talking about how his daughters were little they loved dressing up like princess’s. My daughter isn’t quite old enough but I’m sure she’ll love dressing up like a princess. Just something else to add to my dream list I’ll never afford!😭 Anyways thanks for the tour! Definitely an awesome home!! Just came to my mind but also reminds me of the castle off of Frozen…..yes I watch a lot of Disney movies now with 2 kids….but honestly I like them because reminds me of my childhood. Just had a walk through memory lane.
If it was worth 60mil it would be listed for 60mil. No buyers at 35mil either, so it isn't even worth that. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. The land is worth something but nobody wants someone's silly castle. Lots of them are sitting on the market with no buyers. EDIT - The price is now 29mil. The property is worth maybe 5-7mil, it is in the middle of nowhere.
If I ever win the lottery I will most definitely purchase this home here for eternity hire a butler to cook my healthy meals invite people I enjoy being around to enjoy the home with me have 5 huskies 1 German Shepard and a few cats. I'll be living my dream and best life 🥰
Being a life long CT resident can say its really awesome there are properties like this in our small state! If this was in europe ect with some few hundred year history itd sell super fast for a lot of money, but being in CT not sure who will spend that type of money on an actual castle with that much land & sized lake. Very cool property but will be hard to find a buyer i think.
Wtf…fantasyland meets bizarro world. Incredible vision and attention to detail. Sure dude has got some great stories and entirely too much time and money. Tough sale but the person buying it should have equally amazing stories. Can probably lease this place easier. Great tour
I'd buy it and move in the family and rename it the MARK FAMILY castle lol. Being my name is Mark, makes sense and keeps its name Haha. Wondering is it for sale furnished?
It's not that person's job to give their money to the homeless. Wealthy people do not need to fix everything and either does the government. It's their money stop pushing personal ideals onto others. Go give all your money to the homeless and terribly run programs then come back and complain.
The beauty of being a U.S citizen and anyone being able to make millions/billions ect its not private citizens who are successful jobs to support or pay for the homeless ect problems. Its the governments, charities, aid organizations ect so if you wana cry about it and other issues every country in the world has go to Washington DC and start there.. you sound uneducated, petty and jealous leaving comments like that on here.
It would take a certain type of person to wanna buy and live in this sort of place. I’m not surprised they’re having trouble selling this place. It’s just a bit over the top in a lot of ways. So much clutter and so many steps and stairways and just spaces that aren’t really that useful to someone in a house you have to live in every day.
this fairytale castle is rad awesome cool gorgeous. I'd love to stay as a guest for a week or two. it would be so cool to live here. however I wouldn't want to pay the bills for heating, ac, electricity, gas, landscaping, maids, and more. I'd rather have the extra money for future savings, vacation here and there, and other things. much success on finding a new owner for such a stunning fairytale castle home.
This house is almost perfect. The island should have been raised to tree height in case of floods, and that bridge should have been a drawbridge. Other than that, perfect.
Am I the only one that absolutely hates the interior design?? I can’t stand the sense of clutter that this home brings when you walk into it. Like it has so much potential to be beautiful but all those knickknacks are just really killing the vibe.
